Spring 2020, Third Year Architecture Studio Academic - Individual Project (12 weeks) Advisor: Aki Ishida, AIA, LEED AP Location: 3882 Cannon Pl, The Bronx, NY Program: Public Library Requirements: Two community rooms, each with 74 person capacity Adult, teen, and children area Staff work area and staff lounge, Library manager area
3 Interior Rendering from the second floor main entrance The lbookshelves naturally dividing the use of space Adaptable interiors
Because a wider range of activities and programs are taking place in these places where once endless rows of books were taking up most of the space, how can the space store books in a hyper-compact manner but also be as flexible and open as possible in order to serve the various programs and events?
Because the library is no longer occupied by an infinite row of bookshelves at all times, the interior space is always ready to adapt at any time. When the bookshelves are hoisted up in special days as shown in the rendering above, the first floor houses any program or event whille maintaining the function of a traditional library on the second floor.
The shelves embody mobility allowing the ability to open up the space when the library holds special activities and to come back to human reach when needed.

Fall 2021, Fifth Year Competition - International Competition (group) Location: Hverfjall, Iceland Program: Observation deck
5 “It was quite a hike up to this destination. I want to lie down and comfortably watch the passing clouds of the place.”
“I want to sit and look out to the horizon. I might take off my backpack and shoes, and by then I know I would want to stay longer.”
“I still feel energized and would like to watch the landcape at the absolute edge of the platform and observe the lakes in the distance.”
The mesh surface provides a range of positions to immerse in the landscape.

Ease of assembly
Perched on top of Hverfjall, a volcano looking out to the mountains and lake Myvatn, a generous flexible platform awaits the hiker to finally reach the end of a journey, rewind, and enjoy the panoramic views of the natural surrounding that stretch out in all directions.
In response to the rural context of the site, only light-weight materials such as steel cables, cube beams, and flexible mesh surfaces are used to assemble the platform.
One may enjoy the view and the sky on the flexible mat bed or on the walking deck tucked below that is surrounding the structure.
The light, conventional building materials lend and ease of surrounding and transporting them to the top of the volcano and also require a minimum of machinery on site for assembly.

Apartment units Gallery & workshop space
The entire building embodies the idea of creating volumes of space with planar elements. Walls and roof panels are carefully arranged, all together achieving a both light and airy aesthetic. As light as the building looks due to the thin panels, the building is also firmly grounded to its physical context. By digging a floor into the entire site, the liveliness atmosphere from the street corner is
pulled into the back of the building in which an underground and exposed garden welcomes the visitors. The workshop space hovers over the main gallery space and becomes a part of an artwork of itself in the gallery space, celebrating the idea of learning and education.
Academic
Situated in Palermo Viejo, an old and hip neighborhood in Buenos Aires, the gallery opens up to the crossroad along with the eight apartment units next to the gallery, facing the park.

Inward Revitalization
Fall 2020, Fourth Year Architecture Studio(12 week) Academic - Individual Project Advisor - Kevin Jones, AIA Location: 218 5th St, Roanoke, VA Program: Social Justice Center Requirements: Community Gathering Room for up to 70 people + 100SF kitchen space, 3 Classrooms and Breakout Rooms 8 parking spaces Administrative Suite, Entrepreneur Star tup Lab, 2 Anchor Tenants
9 Interior Rendering of Main Gathering Hall The concept of the design started from analyzing the site. Because the site is situated in a place in which there was a lack of development and maintainance, vacant lots are easily visible throughout the neighborhood. Also, having such a significant area dedicated to industrial zones, the design led towards a circular, dome-like volume that detcaches itself from the relatively cold and inhumane surroundings. The Social Justice Center mediates the contrasting conditions of the heavy indusrial zones and the low-rise residential units.
Academic
As a new community hub for the people, from the exterior design to the material pallette of the interior finishes, all design choices focus on recapturing a lost identity of the neighborhood. Like a soft marshmellow, the light, translucent building gently hovers over the site and welcomes anyone in to the space, allowing for gatherings to occur and to celebrate the history of Gilmer County.
