IA3 PHASE 3 Art as Alternate Hannah G

Focus The focus of this unit of work has been art as alternate. In this unit we as a class have explored many different forms of altering artworks to create different meanings. The focus of my body of work will be about exploring the past and using different art styles and mediums to bring forward meaning and to allow myself to explore different art styles as well. The body of work will be large scale, with five separate canvases with alternating art styles. Through the middle of the canvases will be a continuous collage with images from childhood. I will also be working with a partner for this body of work, so these images will depict both our childhoods and experiences we have had.

Artist Statement Lifetime Acrylic paint, Photo Collage This artwork is a collaboration and is a large scale piece. Our approach to this body of work was to create meaning using different art forms and mediums. The canvases will show the progression of childhood through a photo collage that stretches over all five canvases. Around this is alternating art works. Three of the canvases are block art with plain colours blocked in and two of the canvases have street art style works. These will all be in colour while the photos are in black and white. This emphasises both elements of the body of work. The photo collage will be like a timeline and depict events from my past as well as my partner’s past. It will also depict things that are important to us and places that are important to us.

Her work appears to be collections of images/paintings overlaying each other like a collage

Experimental work – Julie Fragar Reflection: My collage ended up being less crowded as compared to Julie Fragar's. I tried to communicate the idea of being free or feeling a sense of freedom through the use of images found online and collating them together.

SCAMPER Activity The SCAMPER activity consisted of altering an already existing artwork. We decided to cut up an existing artwork and weave the pieces together.
