Art As Code FIA 3 Experimental Folio

Reflective statement My artwork responds to Sol LeWitt and his use of colour throughout his Colour Bands artwork to the point of stereotypical colours for male and female. His artwork also talks about a connection between shape and colour by using the same shape which is a triangle and the same colours throughout but changing the pattern of the colours, so it isn’t the same across the whole canvas. My artwork follows this as I chose 2 sets of colours that people commonly associate together with the terms of ‘men’ and ‘women’ as they are the most thought of colours to challenge the metaphor about how men and women are from different planets.

Supporting Evidence Here you should be placing your supporting evidence that shows your ability to do the following: Researching- Reacting to stimulus Experiments with processes inspired by key artists to discover new ways of working that challenge and evolve art practice; experimentation with media, colour and artistic control connects reaction to stimulus through contemporary or personal contexts. Analysis and interpretation to show how context or ‘different lenses’ impact individualised pathways and constructs new knowledge in the work of self and others. Analysis and interpretation of visual language and expression in artworks that create meaning through processes related to the artists personal experience or intentions

Analysis and interpretation of literal and non -literal meaning in artwork and display decisions through personal contemporary context to engage audience (How you choose to present your artwork). Developing — generating solutions Implementation of ideas and representations that enhance reading and engagement for audience. This could include research of artists and how different lenses have been applied by artists to challenge your own or the viewers perspective or how you have endeavoured to do this through your own artwork Reflecting — considering ideas Evaluation of choices demonstrating knowledge and understanding of interrelationships of visual language and influences. Evaluation of interconnected artistic influences, visual language, and aesthetic choices through questioning and consideration of selected processes and techniques; careful consideration of how display choices can enhance meaning.
