How to fall back in love with your
Conservatory
DINING • PLAYING • RELAXING • READING • WORKING • ENTERTAINING
Fallen out of love with your conservatory? If you’ve got an older style conservatory, there’s a good chance you’re not using it as much as you could be.
02
Here are 4 of the most common issues we hear about old conservatories…
1. too
hot Older style conservatories used A LOT of glass, with no heat reflective technology. Glass + summer sun = a room that’s unbearable in the summer.
too
cold
2.
With little to no insulation, old conservatories can be like an ice box in the winter making them unusable in the colder months. 03
outdated
3. 4.
Older conservatories can look a bit out of date in the style stakes, looking like an add-on rather than a seamless link to the rest of your home.
too
noisy
If your conservatory has an old glass or polycarbonate roof then you’ll know how annoying the rain noise can be. That peaceful garden retreat you dreamed of, suddenly doesn’t seem so tranquil!
but, there is a solution... 04
...a solid roof! Transform your conservatory into an extension with a light weight solid roof from Frames Conservatories Direct.

We will manage the entire project for you from beginning to end – from designing the style and shape to suit your home through to managing building control. Replace the roof on your existing conservatory If you have an existing conservatory that you find unusable because it is too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer – we have a solution for that too. You can replace just the roof on your existing conservatory and transform it into a room for all seasons. There are several options of replacements roof – you can choose from a high specification polycarbonate roof or a high performance, self-cleaning, glass roof. In some instances you could even choose a hybrid warm roof with a solid, fully insulated, plastered ceiling blended with glazed sections to add natural daylight. For those that want a lightweight, tiled effect roof – that is an option too.

“My wife and I are very pleased with our conservatory. All members of staff have been very helpful and polite and kept us informed. The workmen on site have always cleared up at the end of each day and we could not fault their commitment to the job. It has been a pleasure to have them on site, they are a credit to your company.” Mr & Mrs N, Elmswell

Gable Design A Gable design is square or rectangular in shape and has the unique feature of a roof which stands upright and proud rather than slopes backwards as other roof styles do. This is where the Gable gets its name. The Gable roof provides a grand and stunning impact both inside and out. The front of the Gable can look like the rising of the sun and maximises light coming into the room while the roof height gives the feeling of space.
Mr & Mrs L, Bury St Edmunds
The beautiful Gable lends itself perfectly to tranquil room for reading, listening to music or simply enjoying an afternoon snooze.

Edwardian Design The Edwardian is a traditional looking Conservatory. The bold, large, square or rectangular shape maximises the large floor space, whilst the sloping glass roof gives a greater impression of space, and creates a light, relaxed living area. The classic roof shape of the Edwardian design makes a fantastic structural statement and will set off both period or modern houses. The roof height and generous floor space of the Edwardian make it a multi-functional space, large enough to accommodate a dining table or lounge furniture – you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it.

What will your unique design look like?

Orangeries An Orangery is a Glazed Extension with a difference. With brick built pillars, an atrium style glass roof and period features, an Orangery makes a statement of grandeur. Dating back to the 17th Century, an Orangery was traditionally a room within the homes of the fashionably wealthy used for growing citrus trees as the warmth of the glass ceiling protected them from the elements during the winter months. An Orangery adds both elegance and splendour to your home.
Mr & Mrs P, Cambridge Rubberised EPDM Roof The most popular choice of roof material to compliment your glass lantern roof is EPDM (rubber). This durable, lightweight material is long lasting, waterproof, fire resistant and virtually maintenance free. Despite being black it is solar reflective, therefore keeping your Orangery cool in the summer. It is perfect for flat roofs or those with very low pitch.

UltraFrame Livinroof from Frames Conservatories Direct The Ultraframe Livinroof is the first roofing system designed to give you the flexibility to combine solid and glazed roofing seamlessly. A Livinroof enhances the thermal performance of your glazed extension to give you a room that you can use all year round. Installed on a new room or to replace the roof of an existing conservatory, the Ultraframe Livinroof allows you to incorporate one or more glazed panels that lets daylight penetrate deep into your room, making the space instantly brighter. The glass panels can be inserted to replace any of the roofing panels in any shape enabling you to maximise the light in your room, to produce a very contemporary design not easily achievable with other types of roofing system. Internally the Ultraframe Livinroof is stunning. It can deliver a magnificent vaulted ceiling and incorporates an internal pelmet around the perimeter, where lights can be installed. At the ridge at the top of the roof you can insert or hang lights in a place where you otherwise wouldn’t be able to on a vaulted ceiling. If a vaulted ceiling isn’t for you then there is an option of a suspended ceiling, allowing you to continue the ceiling height from an adjoining room or to give your room a more ‘cosy’ feel. The Ultraframe Livinroof can be formed into any shape or roof style. The roof can incorporate the Classic Cornice - hiding the guttering and giving your conservatory a modern, aesthetically pleasing feature. Externally the roof is finished in urban grey to compliment any housing style and give a contemporary look. The roof is quick to install compared to other solid roofs on the market and because of its prefabricated design, doesn’t require any onsite cutting, reducing waste and disruption. 14
“A brilliant company with excellent workmanship and ethics. Very, very pleased.” Mr & Mrs C, Thetford.
UltraFrame Lightweight Tiled Ultraroof from Frames Conservatories Direct The Ultraframe Ultraroof has all the great features of the Livinroof but with the added benefit of the external appearance of a tiled roof. This system truly makes your new space feel like an extension of your home. Fully insulated with sound absorbing qualities the Ultrafroof consists of lightweight recycled upvc tiles available in a variety of colours or colour-matched to the existing house roof if desired.
A Glazed Extension with an Ultraframe Lightweight Tiled Roof really provides the WOW factor. Because the roof is so light, it doesn’t require additional major structural elements such as columns or piers. You can even add roof windows or velux windows to allow extra light to flood in exactly where you want it. Our tiled roofs are manufactured to the highest quality. Once constructed, they won’t rot, rust, peel or flake, so they need very little care.
Frames Conservatories Direct Extension Roof For a truly authentic roof, you may like to consider the Frames Conservatories Direct Heavyweight Tiled Roof, it has all the benefits of the lightweight roof but can use the same roof tiles or slates to match the main house.
