Ipswich Tyre Group are celebrating an anniversary after supplying tyres and motoring services for the last thirty years. We are one of the most successful tyre and fast fit retailers in East Anglia with 7 branches spread across Suffolk and North Essex. The group has a turnover of nearly £10 million per annum and now employs over 100 people. Steady expansion since the first branch opened in 1982 has seen the company grow to locations along the A12/A14 corridor with the most recent acquisition joining the group in 2016.

how did it all happen? Ipswich Tyre Centre Ltd was formed in 1982 and is still based at the original location, 37-41 Holywells Road, Ipswich. Ownership of the Company remains unchanged with the Founder and Managing Director directly involved with all associated Companies. Ipswich Tyre Centre Ltd started in business by supplying and fitting car tyres and exhausts from the site in Ipswich whilst offering a comprehensive mobile service in the supply and fitting of commercial, agricultural and industrial tyres. Having quickly established a loyal and expanding customer base the business began expanding the services it offered to include MOT testing, servicing, brakes, clutches and a full range of garage services. The commercial tyre business also expanded, and the Commercial Tyre Fitting vans were soon covering a 20-mile radius of Ipswich.

Having established a sound reputation in Ipswich it was time to expand the operation to other areas. In the early 90’s both Colchester Tyre & Exhaust Centre Ltd and Stowupland Fast Fit Ltd began trading, based on the same business profile as the operation in Ipswich. These new businesses offered tyres, exhausts, MOT testing and the full range of garage services coupled with mobile commercial, agricultural and industrial tyre fitting.

As an independent business we strive to offer the highest level of customer service which, coupled with our combined buying power and our ability to react quickly to changes within our marketplace, meant that by 2000 all three businesses were outgrowing the premises they were operating from and it was time for further expansion. Anglian Truck Tyre Management Ltd was formed in 2000. The commercial tyre business from Ipswich Tyre Centre Ltd, Colchester Tyre & Exhaust Centre Ltd and Stowupland Fast Fit Ltd was all placed under one roof to form a dedicated commercial depot. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength and now operates 12 fully equipped tyre-fitting vans covering a huge area around the A12 and A14 corridor. In 2001 Tollgate Tyre & Exhaust Centre Ltd opened in Bury St Edmunds. Offering tyres, exhausts, MOT testing and a comprehensive range of garage services as well as operating three fully equipped commercial tyre fitting vans and one dedicated mobile car tyre fitting van. In 2009, Premier Bodyworks joined the group. All our companies are constantly looking to progress their respective businesses with continued investment in new equipment, vehicles, technology and most importantly our staff. We remain committed to offering the best levels of customer service whilst ensuring we remain competitive in an ever-changing marketplace. The group currently employs over 100 staff.
