Seaford approves construction projects for Penco, Home Team By Lynn R. Parks After a public hearing, the Seaford City Council Tuesday night approved final site plans for two construction projects in town. Penco Corporation, Seaford, plans to build a 3,700-square foot store and showroom at the former Halpern Eye Associates site on Stein Highway. Halpern recently moved into a new facility on alternate U.S. 13, near the post office. The farmhouse that was part of the Halpern office will be torn down and
the store added to a 1,600-square foot building behind the house. Penco, a plumbing supply company located just west of the former Halpern site, plans to renovate that existing building. The project has already received approvals from the Sussex Conservation District, the state fire marshal and the Delaware Department of Transportation. Home Team Properties received final approval for construction of two office buildings on Norman Eskridge Highway, in front of the Little League park. Each building will be 8,580
square feet. The buildings will not have direct access to the highway. Access will be from the intersection across from the former Ames Plaza. During the public hearing, Betsy Godfrey asked whether people attending baseball and softball games in the Little League park will still be able to park on the Home Team property. People currently use the vacant lot for parking. City manager Dolores Slatcher said that Seaford Little League and Home Continued to page 20
