Ask the Expert T’NARYL HINES, CONCIERGE WITH CONCIERGE SERVICES OF ATLANTA Q: Name a place to (literally) stop and smell the roses (or any other springtime blooming flower). A: James Hurley Designs near Piedmont Park not only has great rose arrangements for you to smell, but you can take some along with you if you like. Q: Name a charming coffee shop with an adorable outdoor patio. A: Dancing Goats Coffee in Midtown has a quaint, tucked-away patio that you can enjoy people watching while sipping your favorite hot beverage.

T'Naryl Hines

Q: What’s your favorite way to enjoy the warming temperatures in the city? A: A way that I personally enjoy the warming temperatures is to have a nice walk through Atlantic Station with a chocolate swirl ice cream cone from Kilwins. Q: Do you have any favorite dog parks? A: Fetch Park & Ice House. Your dog gets exercise while you have a cocktail... fabulous combination. Q: Name a place to get outside and get physical. A: Hands down, Piedmont Park is an Atlanta staple to get that blood pumping.

Q: St. Patrick’s Day is coming, any Irish pubs/restaurants you recommend to partake in the festivities? A: I highly recommend Limerick Junction St. Patrick's Day Festival. Live music and green beer on St. Paddy's Day. Last year, there was even face painting and a balloon artist. Guaranteed family fun. Q: Name a place in the city perfect for some scenic photography. A: The BeltLine provides a great backdrop for any planned or impromptu photo shoots. Q: Anything going on in the city that you want to make sure is on people’s radars? A: Atlanta is more than a city, it’s an experience. On any given day, you can walk outside and ask yourself 'What's going on today?'. Mentioning one thing would not do the city justice. There's always so much happening in Atlanta. I highly suggest always keeping your eyes open for something exciting. The city will not disappoint you.

A Gold-Medal Worthy Park Nestled among phenomenal attractions, (such as the Georgia Aquarium, Center for Civil and Human Rights and World of Coca-Cola), the beloved Centennial Olympic Park holds its own as a must-see during your time downtown. The park serves as the "preeminent lasting legacy of the 1996 Summer Olympics," held in Atlanta. We don't need to convince history buffs to spend an afternoon here, soaking in the park's past; however, the space offers something for everyone. Just last month, football fans flocked to concerts and events on its grounds when Super Bowl LIII was in town. This month, participants in the Publix Atlanta Marathon will pound its pavement; and locals and tourists alike will grab blankets (and maybe a Frisbee) and make their way to the Great Lawn to soak in spring's warming temperatures. With so much to see and do, March is the perfect time to spend a day at this beautiful Atlanta landmark!

Centennial Olympic Park

Take an audio walking tour. Are you one of the history buffs we mentioned above? If so, you won't want to miss out on the park's audio walking tour. Available for download on your phone, the hour-long tour allows visitors to wander through the park at their own pace. Tourgoers will learn about the park's history and architecture and hear "quirky trivia" mixed in with interviews and original music. Interesting landmarks, such as the Gateway of Dreams, are covered. Head to the Visitor Center to start the experience. www.gwcca.org/centennialolympic-park

See a SkyView [of] Atlanta. Hop on one of the SkyView Ferris wheel's many climate-controlled gondolas and spin up, up and away. Once onboard, you'll be able to gaze out over Centennial Olympic Park, downtown Atlanta and the surrounding area from 20 stories above. Those who want to take their experience to the next level, no pun intended, can purchase a VIP package, which features a glass floor and longer flight time. Whether you soar into the sky during the day or take a ride during its popular nighttime hours, you can't go wrong with SkyView Atlanta. www.skyviewatlanta.com

STK: Tried and True A sleek Midtown steakhouse with a swanky bar and sultry vibe, STK is more than just ambiance. While the chefs here reimagine classic American cuisine with a modern, urban approach, each meal comes out perfectly prepared, an approach you can count on whether you visit in Atlanta, Las Vegas, New York City or the dozen other cities you’ll find STK in. Signature dishes include appetizers such as Lil’ BRG— made with Wagyu beef—sides such as lobster mac ‘n’ cheese and, of course, the highest quality steak. Be sure to pair that steak with one of eight available sauces (our go-to is the chimichurri) and decadent toppings such as Alaskan King crab, shrimp or truffle butter. For those who like to pair dinner and an evening’s entertainment, the onsite DJ seamlessy spins the restaurant into a dance zone as the night progresses, so order another cocktail and chill. 1075 Peachtree St. NE in Midtown, 404.793.0144, www.stkhouse.com 12 W H E R E AT L A N TA I M A R C H 2019

CREATURE COMFORTS Restaurateurs Billy Streck of Hampton+Hudson and Anthony Spina of O4W Pizza have joined forces in the most comforting of ways. Nina & Rafi, a tribute to the duo’s grandmothers, is now serving up generous portions of lasagna, eggplant parmesan, pizzas and more to hungry diners in Old Fourth Ward along the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail. Here, homestyle pizzas are handcrafted upon ordering, a tradition both Streck and Spina recall from their childhood. In keeping with dietary needs, all crusts are made vegan. The vintage vibe continues in the casual-meets-elegant design, where vintage lighting and banquette seating meet wood and tile floors and exposedbrick walls. Art Lovers

KidFriendly

Crazy for Comedy

Turn a corner in Atlanta and you're likely to stumble across a form of art. (1) The BeltLine is a fantastic example of this with public art practically dripping from every surface, even under (and across) bridges. Sculptures, murals, performances and projects, such as Tiny Doors ATL, make appearances. Of course, you can't make a list of art in Atlanta without the (2) High Museum of Art. In addition to housing historical and contemporary pieces, the High hosts a range of artistic events, such as Friday Jazz and the High Museum Atlanta Wine Auction, (March 20-23). With its mission to use puppetry to inspire imagination, education and community, the (3) Center for Puppetry Arts invites creatives to explore its collection, enjoy a performance and make their own puppet.

Are you a parent looking to entertain your children on vacation? A cool relative watching the kids for the day? Lucky for you, Atlanta boasts plenty of places perfect for playing. The (1) Children's Museum of Atlanta is designed for those aged 0-8, with hands-on exhibits based around science, food, art, travel and more. Located in Marietta, (2) Andretti Indoor Karting & Games is paradise for active kids. Here, you can bowl, go-kart and play arcade games; factor in its two-story laser tag arena and all day entertainment is ensured. (Oh, and the kids will love it too). Around since 1889, (3) Zoo Atlanta has plenty of experience entertaining all ages. Kids will love seeing animals ranging from African elephants and giant pandas to Sumatran tigers and western lowland gorillas.

There's certainly no shortage of comedy clubs in Atlanta. What can we say? We love to laugh. Be sure to visit (1) The Punchline. It's the longest-running comedy club in town, and many comedy greats have graced its stage, including Eddie Murphy and George Lopez. The (2) Laughing Skull Lounge holds the title of the smallest full-time comedy venue in the world and true to its claim, there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Laughing Skull's main focus is to showcase stand-up comedy as an art form for the people of Atlanta. Prepare to keel over laughing during your visit to (3) Dad's Garage Theatre Co. You'll find hilarious improv comedy, scripted shows, theatrical plays and more, (plus a stocked bar). According to its claim, if it has to do with comedy, Dad's Garage does it.
