ALOHA PUMEHANA KĀKOU! Welcome to Royal Hawaiian Center where we’re honored to offer you the trendiest in fashion, the tastiest in dining and the truest of cultural experiences. Be it new to the palate, highly indulgent, simple and beautiful or memorable, you’re sure to find something for yourself or a loved one that will be cherished through the years. Sometimes it’s the simple nuances that make being on holiday magical. While Royal Hawaiian Center can proudly boast about its international flagships along Kalākaua Avenue, we would be remiss if we didn’t take the time to herald the humble, smaller shops. It’s my hope that when you explore Royal Hawaiian Center, you’ll

Fashion house’s refreshing collection reimagines a cold-weather staple. WHILE YOUR FALL 2018 PIECES may be safely stored in your closets, their sartorial sensibilities continue to linger, and they can now be seen in Hermès’ “Resort” collection. An otherwise cold-weather staple, supple leather is reinspired and brought to life with the reminder of warm summer days and windswept moments along the coast. Hermès creative director and designer, Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, eschews patterns with this collection, opting instead for a subdued palette of browns and blues with flashes of yellow and vibrant orange. Nalu Storage offers convenient and secure lockers to store surf and stand-up boards. “I started this five-and-a-half years ago because I couldn’t find long-term storage for my boards,” says Nalu Storage owner Maurie Feldberg. “And then this spot came up and I presented the idea to the Center’s management.” While most of the lockers are dedicated for long-term use, Feldberg does offer short-term rentals for visitors, many of whom come annually to surf the waves off Waikīkī. “I’ve got guys from Spain, Tahiti, Australia and, of course, the mainland who will reserve a locker before they visit,” says Feldberg, as surfers flash him a familiar shaka and a smile as they store their boards. “I even had one incoming UH [University of Hawai‘i] student’s mom call me to ask if her daughter could store her board here but she didn’t know how she was going to get it here. So I picked her up from campus. I’m paying it forward.” Feldberg personally designed the locker system, which can accommodate

SHE LIKES the butterfish. He prefers the beef tataki. She favors pasta. He would rather have pizza. Yet, when the question of where to dine arises, Emi Hart and her spouse, Michael Sorenson, share the same response: Royal Hawaiian Center, of course. As Yelp Hawai’i’s senior community director, Hart says she takes her food “seriously.” She knows what she likes. And she’s not afraid to share her honest opinions. “I’m not going to recommend anything that I don’t like,” says Hart, who is also a talented singer/songwriter.
