The Atlantic Station Christmas Tree Lighting and Christkindl Market are great places to sip on some hot cocoa while enjoying the holiday festivities.

at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis and a member of Les Clefs d'Or, was recently inducted into ACVB's Atlanta Hospitality Hall of Fame. Q: What is your favorite way to celebrate the holidays in the city? A: One is the Atlanta Ballet’s “The Nutcracker.” It's been a staple in the city for decades, but they are changing the format for the first time in 20 years. It marks the start of a new generation and is a mustattend event. If you enjoy a lot of festive cheer and a few cocktails, I highly recommend attending the Miracle Bars across the city: the original Miracle on Monroe inside TAPA TAPA, Sippin’ Santa at Bon Ton and the newest addition of Miracle on Highland at Parish in Inman Park. Q: Do you have additional favorite cocktail spots? A: The Lawrence is one of my favorites and I love to sip on the Lady Lawrence with flavors like lavender mint tea vodka and ginger. One of my all-time favorite cocktails is served at Red Phone Booth and it’s called 2 W H E R E AT L A N TA I D E C E M B E R 2018

Q: Where can you enjoy some great live music? A: TWO Urban Licks offers live blues music Wednesday through Saturday and of course Venkman’s, which is known as a bar and restaurant that offers a nightly eclectic live music selection. Q: What exciting events are taking place in Midtown/Downtown? A: The Children’s Christmas Parade will be taking place on Peachtree on the 1st and it benefits the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra also has an entire holiday program that you won’t want to miss. Of course, the ChickFil-A Peach Bowl takes place at MercedesBenz Stadium later this month. Q: What else should people have on their radar? A: Our main restaurant, Sear, is getting a renovation and will be open to the public at the end of the month. It will still be a fire-inspired American restaurant with local ingredients, but the interior is getting a major update. The menu will be getting spiced up and a newly renovated bourbon bar will be coming on the scene.

Q: Your favorite romantic restaurant? A: Without a doubt, Marcel. It has low lighting and big leather booths and the feel of a French steakhouse. O-Ku on the Westside is also great with romantic, rooftop sunset views and a great selection of sushi. I also have to give a shout out to Rathbun’s, which has a vast wine selection.

In the Eye(brows) of the Beholder Also from Atlantan Andrew Glass, one of the business owners of the aforementioned Waksē, are covetable beauty sets from LaTweez. Called “the most luxurious tweezer in the world,” LaTweez’s technologically advanced tweezers contain an ultra-bright LED light that allows you to illuminate your eyebrows and see hard-to-reach hairs. Truly beautiful, you turn on the light with a Swarovski crystal button. But if you forget to turn it off, don’t worry—it’ll automatically shut itself down after seven minutes. The superior gripping power of LaTweez’s products is possible from another covetable feature—real diamond dust. The dust provides a surface for grabbing the finest of hairs and also while elongating the life of the tweezer by strengthening the steel—and preventing the metal from wearing down. And those who find themselves allergic to traditional tweezers have nothing to worry about—these are crafted from the finest stainless steel; the hand-filed tips were aligned with precision and are guaranteed to be the best tweezing experiece you’ve ever encountered. The brand has created sets in a true rainbow of colors. The Rose Gold Set is new for Holiday 2018. It contains everything you need in a pretty, travel-friendly case: a steel nail file, nail clipper, eyelash curler, eyebrow brush and slanted tweezer. The case itself has a built-in magnifying mirror. For more information and to purchase, visit www.latweez.com.

HOLIDAY FUN

Let’s Get Ready to Rumble... With The Grinch Come holiday season, Ponce City Market sparkles with colored lights, menorahs, lush trees and a festive outlook. It prevails despite one of the greatest Christmas showdowns this country has ever seen, a raucous holiday rumble that pits the mean, green Grinch against jolly old St. Nick. Come one, come all for a ringside seat: this “Mayhem at the Market” is free and begins at 11 am, but activities, such as face painting, poster making and temporary tattoo application begin at 10:30 am. Housed in a former Sears, Roebuck & Co. distribution center, Ponce City Market is on the National Register of Historic Places and encompasses 2.1 million square feet, making it the largest brick structure in the Southeast. ROCK RANCH Holiday traditions abound at Rock Ranch, a 1,500-acre working ranch founded by Chick-fil-A’s S. Truett Cathy. Its drive-through holiday light spectacular began in 2008, after he purchased a truckload of lights from a Home Depot “After Christmas” sale. The mile-long light show isn’t the only draw, however—there’s also an

DIVERSITY AND DINOSAURS Now in its ninth year, Winter Wonderland at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History is a nod to the diversity of celebrations, holidays, traditions and events around the world. Two floors glimmer, shimmer and twinkle with a variety of decorated trees and a multitude of cultural objects. The displays are decorated by local cultural partners and recognize celebrations such as Christmas and Hanukkah, in addition to traditions and practices such as origami, indigenous art and national symbols. While you’re there, don’t miss (as if you could) the Giants of the Mesozoic exhibit, which documents prehistoric life in Patagonia, in the museum’s Great Hall. 767 Clifton Road, 404.929.6300, www.fernbankmuseum.org

Jazz Lovers

Get your fix at (1) Amélie’s French Bakery and

Jazz lovers with Georgia on their mind can head to Atlanta, where they'll find a range of venues celebrating the genre. Held in the High Museum's atrium, the third Friday of each month, (1) Friday Jazz boasts live music, drinks and art. The event is hosted by Jazz 91.9 WCLK, and features a lineup of straight ahead jazz, bebop, swing and free jazz. Located next to Piedmont Park, (2) Kat's Cafe is known for its "tangible love for the arts." Live jazz, comedy and spoken word events compliment its martinis and gourmet pizza. Overlooking the Atlanta BeltLine, (3) TWO Urban Licks is well-known for its wood-fired cuisine, 26-foot wine on tap barrel wall, stunning decor and, of course, its live jazz and blues. Stop in for Sunday brunch and enjoy live tunes and phenomenal dishes, such as Brisket Hash.

Cafe. Its scratch-made, French-inspired goods

pair perfectly with its charming interior. The bakery's seasonally inspired menu will put sugar-fiends in a festive mood. Ice cream is delicious year-round, which is why a stop by (2) Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is a must. Whether you're in the mood for sweet potato with torched marshmallow or Middle West whiskey & pecans, Jeni's has a flavor to satsify your sweet tooth. Located in Krog Street Market, (3) Xocolatl is a small batch micro-factory serving single-origin cacao treats. The microfactory's artisinal chocolate bars are made from imported cacao and range in flavor from blood orange and raspberry infused dark chocolate to coconut milk chocolate with vanilla-infused sea salt and cacao nibs.
