There is no better time to get out and enjoy a walk through Atlanta’s diverse neighborhoods, burn off some calories at a park, enjoy green spaces and stroll through outdoor shopping centers, and get to know this city. Spend some time in the Old Fourth Ward and Midtown. The former boasts the Martin Luther King Jr. historic site and birthplace, in addition to Ebenezer Baptist Church, where MLK was baptized and later preached alongside his father. OFW is also home to Big Bethel AME, the oldest predominantly African-American church in Atlanta. Then, of course, there’s the hottest stop in town: Ponce City Market, which beckons with an eclectic mix of shops, bars and restaurants. The 2.1-million-squarefoot building was once a Sears, Roebuck & Co. distribution center. In Midtown, literature lovers should visit the Margaret Mitchell House, where “Gone With the Wind” was written. The High Museum boasts the area’s best-curated and most coveted exhibits. If it’s green space you’re after, the 182-acre Piedmont Park is considered Atlanta’s Central Park; adjacent is the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Both the Old Fourth Ward and Midtown offer easy access to the Atlanta BeltLine, a popular rail-to-trail favored by walkers, runners, skateboarders and man’s best friend. I always see something unique, and the square is easy to get to on MARTA. This month is also chock full of notables such as the Sweet Auburn Festival, Greek Festival, Candler Park Festival and the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival.

If the weather is nice and you want to enjoy art outside, stroll along the now-famous Atlanta BeltLine. Enjoy 22 miles of revitalized pathways that are constantly being populated with new sculptures and paintings.

Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ATTRACTION IN THE CITY? A: One of my favorite

things to do when I visit any city and can highly recommend in Atlanta is taking a tour. The Electric Car tour or Segway tour offers a wonderful overview of the city, where you can take in history and anecdotes from knowledgeable guides. As someone who gives out advice daily, it is nice to listen to another point of view, and I always learn something new.
