Q: Baked goods are on everyone’s mind this time of year. Name your favorite go-to bakery. A: Henri's in Buckhead. They carry amazing petit-fours that are little cakes with icing and flowers on them. Q: Where can you pick up an authentic craft cocktail? A: Seven Lamps, they have some of the
best mixologists. I'm not much of a cocktail drinker, so they construct drinks based off of the flavors I like. Q: Name an adventurous way to enjoy the changing of the leaves. A: Amicalola Falls in Dawsonville, Red Top Mountain, Ellijay and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Honestly, if you just head anywhere to the North Georgia mountains you'll get the best views of the changing leaves.

A: I have several favorites: Flower Child, Buckhead Diner, Mary Mac's Tea Room and South City Kitchen. Q: Name a spot to pick up some hot cider. A: Apres Diem in Midtown, they add hot cider to their menu in November and it's spiked. Q: What’s your favorite way to enjoy fall in the city? A: By walking through the "Garden of the Lights" at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. The lights start in November and can be enjoyed through January. Q: What else should people have on their radar? A: Most definitely The Macy's Great Tree Lighting Show that takes place at Lenox Mall on Nov. 18th of this year. The tree will stay lit through Jan. 1.

“Atlanta is at the forefront of a trend gradually developing across the country,” said Angela Renals, below, founder of Destination Tea and knower of all things loose leaf and tea tradition. She believes millennials are to thank. “Thirty- and forty-somethings are finding out that afternoon tea is the perfect scrumptious, leisurely get-together for catching up with friends or celebrating special occasions.”

The new moniker isn’t the only big news however, as State Farm Arena’s new Courtside Club features the NBA’s first ever court-side bar. The Hawks play eight home games in November, including hosting the New York Knicks on Nov. 7, the Toronto Raptors on Nov. 21 and the Boston Celtics on Nov. 23. nba.com/hawks GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS Based in Atlanta, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets often take a back seat to the “Dawgs” but their stadium, the Bobby Dodd Stadium at Grant Field, is located in near downtown Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets host the Miami Hurricanes on Nov. 10. ramblinwreck.com 11

We’ll never call Atlanta “the city that never sleeps” and not just because that title is taken. Our bars close fairly early and the only part of the city that never really stops is the airport. Still, there is plenty to keep you occupied at all hours of the day and night. 10 PM: LATE-NIGHT DELIGHTS No matter what time of day you arrive in Atlanta, there are a handful of eateries where you can indulge well into the night. This is the home of Waffle House, after all. Cook Out has enough locations around town that stay open until 4 and 5 am. Depending on the time of night, you might be standing in line alongside local college students or the post-bar crowd. Fill up with a burger, sides of quesadillas and fries, and, of course, a milkshake for a cheap, latenight feast.
Centennial Park
12 AM: REVELERS WELCOME Every city needs a late-night movie theater and the Plaza Theatre (470.225.6503) in Poncey-Highland is Atlanta’s. First opened in 1939, it runs independent and classic films, including “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” A screening of the cult classic is held every Friday night at midnight, put on by the fan group Lips Down on Dixie. The theater also hosts special screenings and premieres and has its own cocktail, the Plaza Punch. 2 AM: SING YOUR HEART OUT Still buzzing from your performance at “Rocky Horror,” end the night at a nearby karaoke bar. Fam-Fam (404.328.7070) is set up in the Elevator Factory in Grant Park and stays open until
Plaza Theatre
3 am. You can bring your own alcohol and reserve a room by texting the bar’s phone number. Karaoke costs $10 per person and a minimum of six guests is required. Flying solo? Head to 10 High (404.873.3607) under Dark Horse Tavern in Virginia-Highland for Metalsome Karaoke instead. 6 AM: CATCH THE SUNRISE If you’re still out, or already up, catch the sunrise on the Jackson Street Bridge, which has the best views of Atlanta and technically never “closes.” You likely won’t be the only one there as it’s a popular spot for snapping Instagram shots. If that’s not enough, the Atlanta BeltLine (404.477.3003) opens at 6 am; start your morning off with a walk through the city’s paved rails-to-trails pathway. 7 AM: FUEL UP FOR THE DAY Open 24 hours in a bustling corner of Buckhead, R. Thomas Deluxe Grill (404.881.0246) is the best place for an earlybird breakfast, open since 1985. Speaking of birds, be
sure to greet the parrots and other feathered friends that live outside the restaurant. Nearby, Arden’s Garden (404.209.1200) is another great option for a healthful kick-start to the day. 9 AM: TOUR THE TOWN If you’re short on time, focus on the history and important neighborhoods. Start at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site (404.331.5190) to learn about the Atlanta native, then head to Center for Civil and Human Rights (678.999. 8990) in Centennial Olympic Park, which documents both Atlanta’s role in the Civil Rights Movement and modern human rights struggles. 3 PM: FAST-PACED PLAYTIME When you’re ready, head back to the area around the airport to finish your trip. The Delta Flight Museum documents the airline’s history from cropdusting planes to international flights. And the Porsche Experience Center is home to the luxury car maker’s North American headquarters.

6 PM: RELAX AND REJUVENATE There’s plenty to see and do within Hartsfield-Jackson. Don’t miss the global cuisine and cocktails at One Flew South at Terminal E or try Xpress Spa at Terminals A and C for massages, manicures and facials.

When you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, these destinations never disappoint. Adventure awaits in (1) Athens, current home to the University of Georgia's Bulldogs and former stomping grounds of bands REM and the B-52s (yes, you can actually travel down the Atlanta Highway). Shopping, sports, music and restaurants reside in one place that will keep you entertained. When you really want to commune with the outdoors, a trip to (2) Georgia's Blue Ridge will cure what ails you. Nature shows off its beauty with rolling hills and tall pines covered in mist in the morning and speckled with stars during the night. For a great mix of the two, (3) Serenbe is a community focused on
Make time with your sweetheart more memorable at these must-visit stops for romantics. Worry no more about where to find the best sunset. A daunting sight, (1) Stone Mountain just might have a soft side. As the sun sets, colors paint the sky, making an unforgettable date night. A meal and movie make a great date, But you've never experienced the pairing the way you will at (2) Cinebistro —grab a plate and your date and enjoy a movie as you eat. For the ultimate in relaxation, reserve a couple's suite at the (3) Mandarin Oriental. Indulge in a side-by-side massage; the Couples Retreat package begins with a soothing foot ritual, a couples bath, full-body exfoliation and scalp massage before delving into the full-body massage. In addition, the spa offers a treatment with warm peach oil.
You'll never be at a loss for great shopping options in Atlanta, but these are some of our favorites. Marked by stunning architecture, Buckhead's (1) Phipps Plaza offers high-end brands such as Jeffrey Atlanta, Gucci, Tiffany & Co. and Nordstrom. Another way to shop 'til you drop is to get into the Peach State's walkable neighborhoods, and (2) Midtown is certainly one of the them. Here you'll find one-of-a-kind boutiques nestled among arts, entertainment and sports venues, in addition to city parks. The fashionable (3) Westside Provisions District is full of passionate shop and restaurant owners, known as a community of good people who work to create the best experiences for locals and visitors alike. There's so much to see, you'll want to work your way through slowly to savor it all.
fresh and modern but homey environments, it's a place for adventure and relaxation in harmony. 32 W H E R E AT L A N TA I J U LY 2018
