HOLIDAYS GALORE
Get into the holiday spirit in December in Las Vegas. Resorts up and down the Strip showcase the best of the season with an ice skating rink, holiday shows, snow (snow!) and Santa Claus making his much anticipated arrival from the North Pole ahead of Christmas day. Shopping, holiday decor and even hot chocolate make it a season to remember with family and friends. Get off the Strip for lighted cacti and illuminated racetracks. Best of all, holiday shows replete with songs of the season that can melt Scrooge’s heart. Here, nine ways to celebrate the holidays in Las Vegas.
COSMOPOLITAN ICE RINK Let it snow! Not something you expect to hear in Vegas, but if you’re at the Cosmopolitan, that’s just what you’ll experience. It’s part of the winter wonderland that centers on the Boulevard Pool, transformed into a 4,200-square-foot ice rink. Rent a pair of skates and take a few turns around the rink. Afterward, roast S’mores and sip hot chocolate (or something a little stronger) as you watch the snow fall (every 30 minutes every Friday through Sunday from 7 pm-midnight). The ice rink is open M-F, 3 pm-midnight; Sa-Su, noon-

What‘s one place very first-time visitor to Vegas should see? The perfect view of Las Vegas. The (1) Fountains at Bellagio not only bring dancing waters paired with music of all genres, but they put on a show every 30 minutes between 3-8 pm on weekdays and every 15 minutes from 8 pm-midnight. The weekends unleash the fountains starting at noon. Serpentine streams of water set to music blast 245 feet in the air. Travel 460 feet above the Strip to the top of this half-scale replica of the (2) Eiffel Tower Experience at Paris and enjoy a panoramic view. Open from 10 am to 1 am daily. At the (3) Stratosphere Tower, see all of Las Vegas—a full 360-degree view—in front of you at Stratosphere’s indoor and outdoor observation decks. Chilly weather calls for an indoor view.
No city does New Year’s Eve quite like Las Vegas. (1) Drai’s (The Cromwell, 702.777.3800) from Victor Drai, the man hailed as the “father of the Las Vegas after-hours scene,” offers views from the top floor of the resort while the new year rings in. The shenanigans take over five nights at the open-air nightclub. Ring in 2019 at (2) Omnia (Caesars Palace, 702.785.6200), the 75,000-square-foot nightclub paradise with an ultra lounge, mezzanine and stunning rooftop garden that showcases the panorama of the Strip. Calvin Harris bounces into the new year. The swanky (3) XS Nightclub (Encore, 702.770.0097) offers the epitome of opulence in nightlife. Guests can enjoy bottle service indoors, or outdoors at a luxurious poolside cabana. The Chainsmokers roll into the new year.
The holidays make it tough to just find some time to relax. These spas can put you in a zen state of mind. (1) Sahra Spa & Salon (The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 702.698.7000) finds inspiration in the desert’s sky, sand sculptures and moonlit nights. Find 30 treatment rooms, a penthouse spa suite and an authentic Turkish hammam. (2) Reliquary Spa (Hard Rock Hotel, 702.693.5520) has treatments with musical names, such as the Harmonic Massage that combines sound vibrations from the art of acupuncture. (3) Qua Baths & Spa (Caesars Palace, 702.731.7822) features 51 treatment studios including three deluxe couples studios, two personalized hydrotherapy tubs, three Vichy showers, seven facial studios, 35 massage studios and a Crystal Room.
