VEGAS LOVE AFFAIR
In the mood for romance? Las Vegas may not be the City of Lights, but plenty of opportunities abound to find a romantic setting. Start the wooing at the replica of the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas. The experience 460 feet above the city is one of the most popular spots for weddings with its views of Las Vegas. From there, make a little more amour with some restaurants, shows and attractions that add just the right touch of romance to any vacation. CARBONE Italian food gets the romantic treatment at Carbone. Aside from captains roving the dining room and table-side carts delivering dishes, the restaurant features timeless classics such as lobster fra diavolo, chicken scarpariello, veal parmesan and octopus pizzaiolo. Request one of the canoodling booths that surround the exterior of the room. Red velvet drapes provide even more privacy. Aria, 877.230.2742.

GONDOLA RIDES Does it get more romantic than gliding along the canals of The Venetian while a gondolier serenades you? Float beneath bridges, beside cafes, under balconies and through the streetscape that mimics St. Marks Square in Venice as a singing gondolier sweeps you down the Grand Canal for a ride like no other. Indoor and outdoor rides are available. Don’t be surprised to see a marriage proposal or two along the way. The Venetian, 877.691.1997.

Concierge Picks for Special Nights Out in Las Vegas Your best bet for finding a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion is asking your concierge. Romantic views, divine cuisine and overthe-top settings make the list. Here are their top picks. ALAN DE LEON, TOWER SUITE REPRESENTATIVE AT ARIA Carbone at Aria is a fantastic destination for a special occasion; however, do plan ahead of time, since reservations here are usually limited. Picasso at Bellagio by chef Julian Serrano features fantastic seating right next to the Bellagio Fountains. RALPH CARL JUNIO, WYNN LAS VEGAS CONCIERGE If you are looking for a memorable dining experience, I would recommend Costa Di Mare at the Wynn. What makes this restaurant so special is that they fly in fish
and langoustines from the coastal waters of the Mediterranean on a daily basis. NORMA CABRERA, CONCIERGE AT THE MIRAGE Aureole inside of Mandalay Bay is just breathtaking. This American seafood restaurant has a beautiful four-story wine tower in the middle of the restaurant with more than 10,000 bottles and even a swan pond in their backyard. TINA MCCONNELL, CONCIERGE AT WESTIN I would recommend either the Eiffel Tower because you get the view of the

Bellagio Fountains or Top of the World at Stratosphere because what’s more romantic than a nice city view? JONES TANTOCO, CONCIERGE AT THE DELANO Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. I had the best experience when we celebrated our anniversary there. We had a table by the patio and the best view of the Fountains of Bellagio. The food was amazing and you can bring your own wine bottle as well. DAVID MCMAHON, MEETINGS CONCIERGE AT WALDORF ASTORIA Twist by Pierre Gagnaire featuring
French cuisine with contemporary flair is intimate and lovely. Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand is superb…and Le Cirque at Bellagio are additional worthy celebratory options. MARCEY ESSES, CONVENTION SERVICES SPECIALIST FOR MORRIS VISITOR PUBLICATIONS My special occasion pick is Eiffel Tower, the corner table at 5:30 pm. Watching the Bellagio Fountains and the sunset unobstructed creates a very unique atmosphere for a special occasion.

Ask the Expert YOUR CONCIERGE
Tammy Cooper
Concierge/Guest Relations Manager at The Mansion at the MGM Grand Q: Tell me about one of your favorite places to send first-time Vegas visitors. A: The Wind Dancer helicopter tour with Maverick Helicopters. You take off in a helicopter and fly over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam before landing 3,500 feet into the Grand Canyon for 20 to 30 minutes. Enjoy a light snack with a glass of Champagne where you can watch the Colorado River 300 feet below you. On the way back you’ll fly over and see downtown and the Las Vegas Strip.
Q: I want to update my Facebook photo. What should I have in the background of my selfie? A: I know everyone loves the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, but I think it’d be fun to take it a step further and do the Neon Museum. It’s where all the famous Vegas neon signs are retired to. This way you can pose with several different ones. It’s also a super popular spot for photographers. Q: Tell me about your favorite hidden gem in Las Vegas. A: Definitely Red Rock Canyon and Mount Charleston. Mount Charleston is great for camping, hiking (there are even waterfalls), and snowboarding in the winter. Red Rock has amazing hikes year-round and features a gorgeous outdoor theater called Super Summer Theater. You can picnic in the grass surrounded by the beautiful canyon, while watching your favorite play. Q: Who is your favorite celebrity chef? A: Chef Akira Back. He’s incredibly talented and his dishes are so unique (not to men-
tion made with fresh, quality ingredients). His big eye tuna pizza over at Yellowtail at the Bellagio is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. What I really love about him is that despite all of his success and fame, he still takes the time to introduce himself to his guests and ensure they truly love what they’re eating. Q: What’s the must-see show in Las Vegas right now? A: Although it’s not new, “Absinthe” is hands down one of the best shows on the Strip. It’s a great way to kick off your night as it’s absolutely hysterical (and I must add pretty vulgar). Think Cirque Du Soleil meets vaudeville. Q: Where do you recommend visitors go to do some people watching? A: Hexx Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas. They have a huge, delicious menu to choose from and an awesome outdoor patio right on busy Las Vegas Boulevard. Find more tips from concierges on wheretraveler.com

Las Vegas Your Way
Gals February isn’t just wedding season in Las Vegas. It’s a great time for a girls’ night out. Start the night at the 24-hour (1) Hexx Kitchen & Bar (Paris, 702.331.5100) with its decadent chocolate desserts and giant shareable cocktail featuring prosecco, passion fruit and guava served inside a rose gold flamingo. Add a show to the mix with (2) Magic Mike Live (Hard Rock Hotel, 800.745.3000), bringing Club Domina to life with a bevy of hot guys who can dance. The show, based on the hit films “Magic Mike” and “Magic Mike XXL,” features a cabaret nightclub in the round, so the action is everywhere. Party the night away at (3) Tao (The Venetian, 702.388.8338) with its roster of big-name deejays and thumping beats. No matter who’s at this party, everyone will find a spot that’s perfect. 56 W H E R E L A S V E G A S I F E B R UA R Y 20 19
Art Lovers Las Vegas gives art lovers multiple opportunities to not only look at art, but buy it, too.
Late Night
location is one of the largest and most popular
Maybe you’ve been out partying until the wee hours of the morning. Maybe you woke up in the middle of the night and had a craving for pancakes. Either way, these restaurants in Las Vegas stay open 24 hours a day. (1) Pantry (The Mirage, 702.696.7050) keeps the doors open round the clock with homespun recipes made from fresh, wholesome ingredients, served in a cozy nook reminiscent of a French country kitchen. Go for the pancakes. In an Irish mood? (2)

and dinner, as well as a huge whiskey menu 24 hours a day. When enormous portions are calling, head to (3) Hash House A Go Go (The Linq, 702.254.4646) for farm-fresh food that is comforting day or night.
(1) The Art of Richard MacDonald (Bellagio, 702.693.7111) showcases the sculptures the artist created with Cirque du Soleil. Intricate works show not only the performers’ athleticism, but MacDonald’s eye for detail. (2) Lik Fine Art (The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, 702.309.9888) brings the artist’s landscape photography in vivid colors all in one place. This
