Already, the changes are coming fast and furious in Las Vegas. Here’s a look at four new things to look forward to in 2018. Those who like the shouting, the fire and the adreniline behind “Hell’s Kitchen” will soon have a chance to be in the center of the action. Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen opens this winter at Caesars Palace, bringing the studio to the dining room. Previous show participants take over the kitchen while the design offers a nod to both the red and blue teams. Fans of celebrity chefs have a second excuse to dine on television personality Giada De Laurentiis’ cuisines. She plans to open her second restaurant,

The Slanted Door, which opened its first restaurant in San Francisco in 1995, brings Vietnamese fare to the Forum Shops at Caesars in early 2018. The modern take on Vietnamese food plans to open at the front of the shopping center, right on Las Vegas Boulevard. Fans of “The Voice” can see their favorite performers live when “The Voice: Neon Dreams” opens at the Hard Rock Hotel this spring, led by season 10 winner Alisan Porter and featuring Chris Mann (season two), Mary Sarah (season 10), Matthew Schuler (season five), and Matt McAndrew (season seven).

Tour de Steak

Hogsalt Hospitality’s Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar brings a chic Chicago steakhouse to the Monte Carlo. Diners find chandeliers, rich woods, red banquettes and a mix of vintage art and murals by acclaimed artist David Plunkert that look right out of the Gilded Age. These steaks come with a French flair. Multi-tiered seafood towers, dry-aged bone-in rib-eye steaks and lamb chops, all make the menu. For dessert, the restaurant features the hot fudge sundae royale with its buffet of candy toppings, chocolate cream pie with an Oreo crust and a classic lemon-meringue pie. $$$$ Open M-Th, 5-11 pm; F-Sa, 5 pm-midnight; Su, 5-10 pm. THE GUIDE

Ask the Expert YOUR CONCIERGE

Cecilia Allred Supervisor, Concierge Services at The Venetian and The Palazzo

Q: Tell me about one of your favorite places to send first-time Vegas visitors. A: Whether they are from the United States or international, I always recommend the Grand Canyon. Their length of stay will determine the best way to see it. My favorite is by helicopter to the west rim or plane to the south rim because it saves so much time. The Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and it is a must visit. The vistas and wildlife are breathtaking and you will thank yourself for taking the opportunity while you are here. Q: Tell me about your favorite hidden gem in Las Vegas. A: I love clothes and I find some unique, one-of-a kind styles at the gift shops in the resorts on the Strip. Seriously. And sometimes even at bargain prices. And you will avoid that dreaded moment when you see someone else wearing your outfit. Q: Where should I eat if I want to celebrate a special occasion? A: My favorite, and my family’s favorite for our celebrations has always been B & B Ristorante at the Venetian. The menu is fresh and not your average Italian fare. The bar is a great place to grab a quick bite before a show at the Venetian or Palazzo too. The bartenders, or more to the point, mixologists, are incredibly inventive and equally charming. Q: What’s the craziest request you’ve ever had from a guest? A: The craziest requests are the ones where a concierge must respond to the guest that we are only able to arrange what is moral, legal and ethical. Yes, it happens to all of us. Q: What’s the must-see show in Las Vegas right now? A: Again, this is impossible to pick one. I have to say “Baz” at the Palazzo. I have seen it four times and love it. It keeps you entertained with the action and live music and is so romantic. Find more tips from concierges on wheretraveler.com 40 W H E R E L A S V E G A S I J A N UA R Y 2018
