INSIDER’S GUIDE

Top Shows from Concierges Your best bet for finding a show that’s right for you in Las Vegas is asking your concierge. While the Entertainment Capital of the World has a little bit of everything, from Cirque du Soleil to magic, famous singers to comedy, concierges have the fingers on the pulse of what’s hottest in the city. Here are their top picks. MARCEY ESSES, CONVENTION SER VICES SPECIALIST FOR MORRIS VISI TOR PUBLICATIONS My favorite shows are Donny & Marie— as they are a part of my childhood and their passion for entertaining is still visible today. “MJ Live,” as I enjoy watching an impersonator recreate a icon I never had the pleasure of seeing perform. I like “Tenors of Rock,” too, and their live music on stage. Human Nature, too. I like the old school. ALAN DE LEON, TOWER SUITE REPRESENTATIVE AT ARIA Any of the Cirque du Soleil shows are

a staple of Las Vegas entertainment, but “The Beatles LOVE” at The Mirage has got to be my favorite. “Opium” at Cosmopolitan is a new show for those into over-the-top comedy and science fiction, and features a great live band. RALPH CARL JUNIO, WYNN LAS VEGAS CONCIERGE “Le Rêve—The Dream,” hands down. There is no wonder why it has been recently voted the No. 1 acrobatic show for the eighth consecutive year in a row; it’s everything you could want in a show. It has everything from aerial acrobatics, synchronized swimming,

18 W H E R E L A S V E G A S I J A N UA R Y 2 019

high dives, stunning choreography and has elements of fire and water. NORMA CABRERA, CONCIERGE AT THE MIRAGE Any Cirque du Soleil is amazing. But hands down “The Beatles LOVE” is my favorite. If you’re not a fan of the Beatles now, you will be after seeing this show. JONES TANTOCO, CONCIERGE AT THE DELANO There are a lot of must-see shows in Las Vegas, but I usually recommend “Michael Jackson One” and it never disappoints. I have seen it four times and it always amazes me

MJ Live

how good it is. Plus, I’m a fan of MJ. MILDRED SCHNEID MAN, CONCIERGE AT ARIA There are so many headliners in Las Vegas, such as Bruno Mars, Ricky Martin, Cher, Britney Spears, Celine Dion and more. Las Vegas has become an entertainment mecca and guests can actually see headliners almost every night. NATALEE SIMMONS, CONCIERGE AT THE COSMOPOLITAN For the adult crowd, “Absinthe” is the best! I also enjoy “Le Rêve— The Dream” and recommend that to many guests.

Ask the Expert YOUR CONCIERGE

Kristi Amundson Concierge at The Cromwell Q: Where should I eat if I want to celebrate a special occasion? How hard is it to get a reservation while I’m in Las Vegas? A: To celebrate a special occasion , I would recommend Oscars Steakhouse at the Plaza. The steak is always cooked to perfection and the view of Fremont street is uncanny. Reservations do become difficult on a busy weekend, or even on holidays they tend to fill up quickly. Make sure to plan ahead, also request a table by the window if it’s available. The window seats are the best for people watching. Once in a while the former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar

Goodman does pop into the restaurant; make sure to keep an eye out for him. He always has a martini in hand and a show girl on his arm.

guy to talk to. His food is always delicious and he always comes up with a creative menu. Make sure to checkout his trash can nachos. You won’t regret it.

Q: Where do you like to send guests to brunch? A: I like to send guests to Mon Ami Gabi over at Paris Las Vegas. They have a beautiful patio that overlooks the Bellagio Fountains and their chicken apple brie crepe is to die for.

Q: What’s the must-see show in Las Vegas right now? A: My favorite must see show in Las Vegas is always “Le Reve” over at Wynn. The show has everything from pyrotechnics to synchronized swimming to acrobatics and dancing.

Q: How about nightlife? I want to hang out with friends but avoid the nightclubs. Where should I go? A: If you want to avoid the clubs, I would suggest Napoleon’s Dueling Piano Bar over at Paris. It’s a really fun bar where you can watch two musicians go head to head in a dueling piano battle.

Q: Where do you recommend visitors go to do some people watching? A: I love going to Fremont Street at night. You can watch the huge LED Fremont Street Experience screen. There’s lots of street performers and there’s lots of fun casinos like the Golden Nugget you can check out. Also if you make your way downtown, check out the Evel Pie pizza place.

Q: Who is your favorite celebrity chef? A: My favorite celebrity chef is always Guy Fieri. I have met him a few times and he is always down to earth and is a really fun
