If you’re just passing through St. Louis and have only a short time to explore, Forest Park should be your one and only stop. This 1,300-acre park is 450 acres bigger than Central Park in New York and ranks as the seventh largest urban park in the United States. Beautiful in all seasons, Forest Park holds both indoor and outdoor wonders that will satisfy almost any interest. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do and see, from the 75-foot Flegel Falls (also known as the Cascades) to the iconic Bandstand in the center of Pagoda Lake. For indoor fun, options are wide and varied. There’s the Missouri History Museum, dedicated to local and regional history; the St. Louis Art Museum, a world-class art museum with collections ranging from ancient to contemporary and modern art; the St. Louis Science Center, a wonderland of over 700 interactive exhibits as well as a planetarium; and the St. Louis Zoo, home to over 17,000 animals. Did we mention that admission to ALL of these cultural institutions is free? No matter how much time you have to spend in St. Louis, Forest Park provides entertainment to suit every busy traveler’s interest.

Indulge in Comfort Though St. Louis thinks of itself as a solidly Midwestern city, the rest of the country (particularly the northern half) sees it as decidedly Southern. So be it. And if savory isn’t your thing, there are plenty of sweet indulgences too. DAVID LANCASTER

GIVE THANKS. SHARE A GOOD STORY.

don’t worry about the dishes

Ruth had a certain way of doing things. How to run a restaurant. How to treat people. How to prepare the best steak of your life. When people would ask Ruth why her food was so good, she’d simply say, “Just follow the recipe.” Come in and experience how Ruth’s timeless recipe is alive and well to this day. Call or visit us online to make a reservation this Thanksgiving.
