Let’s Talk Jewelry Wife, mother, entrepreneur and real estate executive, Ivanka Trump is also a successful designer. Earlier this year, Ivanka launched her Affinity Collection available locally at Neiman Marcus, Betteridge Jewelers and ECJ Luxe in Boca Raton. We caught up with her to talk about accessories, personal style and travel tips. BY VICTORIA CERVANTES piece to the office that I later wear to a black tie event in the evening.
What was the inspiration behind your collection? I draw inspiration from travel, design and architecture. I’ve always been influenced by the people and places that surround me. My line is created for women who, like me, transition frequently between many different roles throughout the day. What makes the collection a good find for travelers? The collection is easy to style—you could wear the same piece throughout the entire trip and not have to bring separate items to accessorize each look. What’s your personal style? I define my style as chic and sophisticated. It’s timeless with a youthful edge. I’m a huge fan of versatile pieces that transition well from dayto-night. I may wear the same
You have spent time in South Florida, what are some of your top picks? BLT Prime at Trump National Doral Miami is one of my favorite restaurants. It has an amazing terrace that overlooks the golf course. I also recommend brunch by the beach at The Front Porch Café. If you have lots of free time, Miami has wonderful museums to offer, from the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami to the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. Or, stop by the new Trump Spa at Trump National Doral Miami for a luxurious treatment. Where are you off to next? I’ve got quite a few travel plans this fall! Next up is a trip to Washington, to check in on the progress of the Old Post Office—the soon-to-be Trump International Hotel Washington D.C.

1.) How did you get started in the industry? My father ran a business, so entrepreneurship was always in my blood but I also wanted to feel as if I made a positive impact on the lives of people in the community. So I considered the Peace Corps until I met my future boss who told me as a financial planner, you can have both the heart of a social worker and the mind of a capitalist. The desire to help people reach their financial goals while building a successful financial services business is what still drives me today. 2.) How can you help people achieve their financial goals? We step back to take a personal, in-depth look at your goals and decide how you intend to achieve them. A complete financial plan looks at 6 key areas: Financial Position, Risk Management, Wealth Accumulation, Tax Planning, Retirement Planning and Estate Planning. Once we have a strategy to reach your goals we help you implement the strategy in each of those 6 areas through a consistent, repeatable client service model annually. 3.) What makes you different than the others in the business? Our firm is built with a team of professionals to approach your individual needs.
We have advisors who came from investment banks, executives from Fortune 500 companies, fixed income traders, people who ran and sold businesses, attorneys, CPAs, group benefits backgrounds, etc. Coastal Wealth professionals specialized in complex solutions such as business owners transitioning their companies to families just starting to save for retirement or their children’s education. Our teams put your family’s needs at the center of everything we do. 4.) What is your favorite part of your job? Helping clients reach their financial goals. I remember early on in my career going to a client’s house and when I knocked on the door, the child answered and yelled to his parents, “it’s the man who is helping send us to college.” 5.) How do you dress for success? If you feel good about what you are wearing your confidence goes up. I was reading an article earlier this year that people who wore nicer clothes, achieved more. Success leaves clues, so wear what you feel confident in and if all else fails, wear nicer clothes and make sure they are tailored to fit right. You will look and feel like you own any room.

South Florida Your Way UNIQUE TRAVEL RECOMMENDATIONS, FIT TO MATCH YOUR PERSONAL STYLE.
Foodie
First-Timer
Cocktail Enthusiasts
From Miami Beach to Coconut Grove and Palm Beach, let your taste buds do the traveling. Add these foodieapproved eateries to your list. (1) Ariete puts a modern twist on Cubaninspired cuisine; go for the foie gras but save space for the smoked pork chop with braised collard greens. Over at (2) NaiYaRa, Bangkok’s street food scene and Old Siam collide for tasty Thai dishes and Japanese classics. For seafood lovers, the eateries here are known for the freshest catch of the day. Café Boulud in Palm Beach won’t disappoint you with their lobster rolls and seafood tower.
Whether you are looking for a lazy day at the beach or touring historical landmarks, you can find it in South Florida. Get lost for miles in the secluded beaches of (1) Key Biscayne, considered among the best in Miami for family travelers. At the (2) Freedom Tower or the “Ellis Island of the south” you can explore the city’s Cuban heritage and art. And there’s more history to be found at the former home of industrialist Charles Deering. Wander the grounds of the (3) Deering Estate on a naturalist tour; see the mangroves, salt marshes and pine rocklands.
Be it straight-up, super spicy, fresh and fruity or intricately infused, there are as many drinks to imbibe in as preferences. When you think of Miami, a mojito naturally comes to mind. Generally made with rum, (1) Sugarcane Raw Bar & Grill transforms this classic by infusing beets into Bacardi Superior rum. Sky high atop the heart of Miami’s downtown, you can cool off with drinks and Asian tapas from (2) Sugar. Throwback to the age of good ol’ supper clubs for the vibe at (3) Craft Social Club. Handcrafted cocktails with a variety of elixirs rule the day here.
