Modern Japanese Design

Desirable Turbo Option

Evolved from Datsun’s Early Z Cars

The Model -The Nissan 300ZX, also known as the Nissan Z31, hit the automotive scene as a 1984 model and was produced through 1989. Considered to be an evolution of the early Datsun 240Z and 280Z models the 300ZX was a popular choice amongst Japanese auto aficionados in the 80s, leading the brand to success with over 329,000 units produced. Power was delivered in the form of Nissan’s first generation 3 Liter electronic fuel injection V-6, with the option of a turbo to boost the anemic 160hp to 200hp. The Z design featured a low stance, aggressive body lines, color coded front and rear bumpers, covered headlights, and came loaded power windows, power locks, a modern digital dash display, and bucket seats. Transmission options were limited to an automatic or a 5-speed, and all 300ZX models shared the R200 rear differential. The Nissan 300ZX models continue to trend well in the current market, reflecting a growing appreciation for early Japanese design.

The Car - Sporting just around 46,000 miles on the odometer, and still retaining a hint of the new car smell, this Nissan is dressed to impress. Although exempt from state mileage requirements this vehicle is believed to be an actual-mileage time capsule which is easily identifiable upon inspection. The interior power seats are adorned in leather and are in remarkable condition for a car of this era. Power is supplied by the desirable boosted turbo V6 , which delivers ample torque and is a pleasure to drive. Other amenities include power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, a T-Top roof and rear window wiper. This vehicle retains much originality and has been well cared for over the years, something any collector car enthusiast can appreciate. The 300ZX’s low entry cost affords any car lover the opportunity to become a part of the classic car culture.

Dramatic Cadillac Styling

Restore or Drive from Estate Collection

Perfect Parade Car - It Waves For You

The Model - Stylists at General Motors were in a world of their own when it came to lavish accents to bring out their futuristic styling themes. No other brand dared to share the lines and features of Cadillac, they were a family unto themselves. Up front the grills were massive and let everyone know what brand of car you were driving. From the rear, those trademark tailfins set these cars apart from everyone else. For 1960, the Coupe de Ville was a step up from the entry level Series 62, with plusher interiors, a bit more trim, and a few more amenities that made the owner know that they had truly arrived. A total of 21,585 Coupe de Villes were produced for the 1960 model year and while Cadillac was ranked ninth among American car makers, it was the leader by a long-shot in the luxury car field. The Car - Finished in its original Olympic White, the Coupe de Ville we are offering for sale has been fairly well preserved in its original state. The original white leather bolsters with sumptuous black broadcloth are quite comfortable. Maintaining its original engine and transmission, the odometer has apparently flipped over, showing this vehicle has been enjoyed, but does not exhibit any signs of abuse or deteriorations. It is appointed with power steering and brakes, as well as power front seat and windows. Along with the deluxe AM radio, this car also has factory air-conditioning. While this vehicle has not been completely tested, it has recently been driven and appears to be ready to hit the road. This Cadillac would make a perfect driver for a Sunday drive or could be an excellent candidate for a full restoration. 18 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

This Targa-top coupe would see the bodies built and the assembly process done at the Karmann plant in Osnabruck. It arrived at a perfect time for both car makers as VW was looking for a replacement for the Karmann-Ghia sport series. These mid-engine cars were fun to drive and did handle quite well. While not able to keep up with higher-powered Mercedes SL sports car nor even a little Ferrari Dino, they held their own especially when it came to performance versus costs. These little cars did suffer a bit due in part to disagreements between VW and Porsche, but in recent years collectors have warmed to these car and the 914 is no longer to be scoffed at. The Car - During the early 1970’s, high-impact colors were all the rage and the Porsche-VW alliance didn’t disappoint. Willow Green was the type of “in-your-face” color that got attention, as were the other hues used on the early 914’s. This 914 was sold through the Dave Strong Porsche-Audi dealership in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today the car has been restored to its factory appearance as verified by the original window sticker and sales invoice which specifies the Willow Green exterior and black vinyl interior. It is still riding on it original steel wheels with factory hubcaps. The interior is still original, but the paint was reapplied in 2012. Included with the car is the original owner’s manual and maintenance book, plus the window sticker and purchase invoice. Also included is the highly treasured tool roll. A lot of fun is in store for the new owners of this fun little car. 20 WW W W. W. M MO OT TO OS ST TA AL LG G II A A .. C CO OM M W

The Model - In the early days of building the Volkswagen brand, the idea for a lightweight cargo and passenger vehicle became reality with the introduction of the Type II. Starting off with panel vans and mini-buses, other uses were soon developed including a pickup truck. When the second generation of Type II’s were released in 1968, the pickup was included. These double-cab pickups performed a myriad of duties, being capable of carrying up to four passengers plus the driver, and with easy access loading by having the side drop down leaving a flat surface to load whatever would fit. Employing just 3-doors, two on the right, plus a driver’s door, they were able to hold passengers, cargo, were reliable and able to keep up with highway traffic. As capable as these trucks were, sales were slow, especially in the USA, with the model disappearing from the scene after the 1972 model year. W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Model - The first Ferrari to be christened Mondial was a two-liter racing vehicle produced between 1954 and 1956. Only 39 of these cars were prepared with the Scuderia’s Formula-2 engine, and they found moderate success when the main focus at Ferrari was still on the mighty V12’s. In 1975, Ferrari introduced the 308 family of sports cars with the Dino 308GT/4 offered as the entry-level Ferrari. In 1980, the Dino 308 was transformed into the new Mondial. It was still the least expensive Ferrari at the time, but that still put it in a league far superior to most every other car on the road at the time. With its low stance and wide tires, it grips the road with excellent acceleration, brakes with ease and hugs a corner tighter than a race winner hugs the trophy girl. The Mondial is a car that you can and should drive as often as possible.

The Car - Finished in Ferrari Red with a complimenting tan leather interior, this Mondial coupe exhibits all the traits of a car that has been driven and enjoyed, but not abused. Showing just over the 39,000 mile mark the body appears to be straight with smooth panels with the interior showing minimal wear and tear. The dashboard is fitted with all the proper gauges and shows no sun-fading or splitting as is often seen. This Mondial offers an excellent opportunity to enter the world of Ferrari ownership and experience the thrill of Italian design and engineering from behind the wheel. In a league of its own, the Mondial is the type of car that will impress others and put a smile on your face.

The Model – Ferrari’s new 308 had the difficult task of replacing the popular 246 Dino in Maranello’s lineup. When the new car was first spotted during initial testing, rumors flew about the new Dino. The new car was very different however. Rather than use Bertone who had designed the angular 308 Dino GT4, Ferrari engaged Pininfarina design legend, Leonardo Fioravanti, to pen what has become one of Ferrari’s most iconic shapes. The gorgeous design was an instant hit at the 1975 Paris Motor Show. The first two years of 308 GTB production wore fiberglass body shells while later cars were clad in all-steel bodies. Underneath, a sophisticated four-cam 90-degree V-8 provided the power accompanied by an impressive soundtrack. While not delivering blistering performance by modern standards, the new 308s was a breath of fresh air as the Malaise-era drew to a close. Today, the V-8 Ferrari market continues to grow as enthusiasts and collectors recognize the 308 GTB as one of Ferrari’s greats. The Car – This 308 GTB is presented in solid well maintained condition. The car has just received a fresh sympathetic restoration and is correct in every respect. From the desirable Rosso paint to the tan leather interior, this car stands out. This steel-bodied Ferrari benefits from the elegant European marker lights rather than the oversize markers that US cars wore. The freshly serviced engine bay and close attention to details absolutely set this car apart. It is fully serviced and ready to go for the next owner. The V-8 Ferrari market continues to grow as collectors recognize the excellence and beauty of the design. This is an outstanding opportunity to secure a top-flight example of Maranello’s most iconic V-8. 26 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

Rare Early M Series BMW

Classic BMW Precision, Luxury & Performance

Estimate: $40,000 - $55,000 Chassis Number: WBAEE140XH2560693 Decoded: WBA=BMW AG Germany; EE1=M6; 4=Passenger Vehicle; 0= Manual Seat Belts X=Manufacturer code; H=1987 2=Munich 560693= Serial Engine: 3.5 Liter, 24-Valve, Inline-Six Bosch Fuel Injection / 258 hp 5-Speed Manual Transmission FourWheel Ventilated Power / ABS Disk Brakes Mileage: 69,790 Actual The Model - The 1980’s have widely been regarded as one of the worst periods in automotive history, but there was a bright spot imported from Germany. The new BMW 6 Series design, released in 1976 was the brainchild of BMW exec Bob Lutz, who put an end to business as usual at the German auto maker, sketching out the basic framework for the new modern design. The 6 Series would be offered with the BMW Motorsports division upgrades starting in 1984, that is if you didn’t live in the United States. If you did reside in the US, then you would have to wait until 1987 for the US market M6 to arrive. Hyperbole aside, when the M6 did arrive, the ultimate driving machine would now be part of the American experience. The E24 chassis acquired its engine, the M88 from BMW’s Pro Car, the M1, albeit slightly detuned, to power the M badged car. The M6 would also get the M Tech suspension upgrades making commuters feel like Mario Andrette. Not forgetting that BMW owners had come to expect a certain level of civility in their 4 seat coupes, electric Nappa leather seats came standard, as did rear A/C and an A/C cooled chiller between the seats. All that luxury and power came with a stiff price tag, almost sixty thousand dollars if you picked one up at a dealership, a small price to pay for a truly fantastic grand touring car. 28 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - Surviving with its Cinnabar Red factory finish, this grand tourer’s paint is lustrous and eye catching. The shark nosed BMW’s trim and black spoiler are black with no greying, adding the perfect contrast to the exterior package. Sporting a track focused stance this M6 sits on its original cross spoke alloy wheels. Inside you will find more original equipment. Four gingerly used nappa leather bucket seats in tan, let you know this is a true grand tourer, but their immaculate condition is the real story inside the bimmer. The clean and complete theme is carried on throughout the interior with the only exception being the addition of an in dash CD player. Finding the sweet spot between performance and luxury the front and rear A/C controls, Nappa leather door panels and headliner are connected to the performance parts via the black leather “M” steering wheel. Mechanically well sorted, the sporty 6 cylinder fires to life at the first turn of the key and idles smoothly. Along with a full brake service including a new master cylinder, the A/C has also recently been serviced, to include a new compressor. The 5-speed gearbox continues to transfer power flawlessly shifting gears without a hitch. A car this clean and complete without a full restoration is a true tribute to the enthusiasts that love and care for these cars. As investments go, we know the market loves a survivor, as drivers go we know that stepping into a real time capsule and taking it up and down the boulevard is one of the most genuine driving experiences. No matter your plans for the vintage BMW just remember the adage, they are only original once.

Coachbuilt in Modern Platform

Chassis Number: 2272917834 Engine: 5.4 Liter Modular V8 by Lincoln Electronic Fuel Injection/320 bhp SelectShift Automatic Transmission Power Assisted Four Wheel Hydraulic Disc Brakes Mileage: 1600 Showing

The Model - During the classic era in America, Packard was a super-star in the luxury car market. With superb engineering, cutting edge styling and design, and a loyal customer base, there was a pride in ownership, one that the company touted by challenging potential customers to “ask the man who owns one.” With the brand disappearing from the luxury market in 1956, and completely removed two years later, there was a longing for custom crafted, coachbuilt luxury cars with the remaining competition, but the lure of the Packard was gone. One region that is a stronghold in the coachbuilding tradition is Ohio, home of C. Budd Bayliff, a skilled designer and fabricator who had worked in the professional car industry. Bayliff had a vision, to bring back the style, flair and tradition of the Packard. Several funeral coaches were produced and over the years other body styles. One of the last vehicles from Bayliff was this Roadster. 30 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - Titled as a 1949 Packard Bayliff, this stunning roadster was completed in 2003 and recalls the styling themes of the sporty classics from the 1930’s and early 1940’s. It is powered by a Lincoln 5.4 Liter V8 with electronic fuel-injection, and has all the modern amenities such as power steering and brakes with discs on all four corner, plus power windows a power top and of course, air-conditioning. Luxurious and eye-catching this 19-foot long beauty has been carefully stored since its construction, and shows about 2,300 miles. Styling captured many of the Packard’s themes including the ox-bow styled grill-surround and features original era badges on the side of the classic hood line and those massive fender skirts. Riding on chrome wire wheels with wide whitewall tires, it truly qualifies as a neo-classic, yet, like the original Packards, does so with understated elegance. A masterpiece recalling a golden time, with a modern mechanics touch.

Final Year of Iconic Model

The Model – It had been a glorious run for the E-type Jaguars, born out of the famous D-type racers, progressing from rather bare-bones 6-cylinder sports cars, to a vehicle that had grown into a gentleman’s roadster that was so smooth and comfortable that even a fragile lady could handle. When most every other car maker in the world had abandoned multi-cylinder cars, Jaguar championed its beautifully engineered V12, and while the E-type might be retiring, this engine would power a number of body styles in the new XJ series. Accessories such as power steering, air-conditioning, and improved audio systems made these E-types a delight to drive. Over-looked for way too long the latter E-types, or XKE’s as they were marketed here in the states, have recently come into the lime-light with enthusiasts beginning to fall in love with the power, styling and status of driving one of the world’s most exciting sports cars. 32 32 W W W. The Car – Even after 50 years, the lines and design of the E-type is still as fresh and modern as can be. This example is wearing what appears to be its factory applied British Racing Green exterior with an interior of light saddle tan leather. A recently replaced tan soft top fits snug and covers the bows just as developed and installed at the shop in Coventry. Although this car does have some miles showing, it appears that there has never been any body repairs or replacements. Under the hood displays well but does show a patina of use. The dashboard is fitted with Blaupunkt period AM-FM radio, as well as heater and a full assortment of gauges. With the factory chrome steel wheels and a fresh set of tires, this is a Jaguar that is ready to enjoy a drive along the coastline, or a quiet picnic in the part. 33 33 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . Purpose Built British Racer

Curvaceous Aerodynamic Styling

Proven Performance Credentials

Chassis Number: S-71527 Engine: 3.5 liter Aluminum Rover V8 T10 4-speed Transmission Front disc, Aluminium Finned Drum Rear Brakes

The Model - In the era when fiberglass bodies were new and revolutionary, Bill Devin was set to capitalize. Devin, who had already established himself as a renowned innovator in the auto industry, with the first belt driven overhead cam engine, started covering already apt racecars with the new lightweight wrapper. Many British machines received the Devin treatment, including James Gary’s 1956 Triumph TR-2. Gary commissioned Devin to body his purpose built racecar, giving it the racing advantage and aesthetics that would rival any Italian work horse. The “Gary Special’s” first glimpse of daylight came in 1957 at the Los Angeles Concours d’Elegance before being swiftly ushered off to the racetrack by driver Don McQuilken. The “Gary Special” continued to actively compete around the United States in 1959, despite its new Canadian owner. After being retired following a well-documented race career, the roadster remained in Canada under the care of its second owner. Rather than let the little racer rest on its laurels, the power plant was replaced with a British powerhouse engine, the all-aluminum V8 Rover. The underpinnings were also upgraded to handle the added muscle, benefitting from additions to the chassis from a TR-4. In its final transformation the track machine’s body was removed and given several coats of hand rubbed paint. The 3.5-liter V-8 was rebuilt and detuned for street use. When the restoration was said and done, no bolt was untouched and no expense spared putting the little speed demon back in Concours condition. The 34 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - This stunning evocation is titled as a 1963 and wears a maroon racing livery that features the number 12, this roadster’s hand-applied finish is pristine and full of life, presenting itself in the highest regard. Its corner carving credentials are further evidenced on the exterior with the small touches like the wire mesh headlight covers and grill and knock off wire wheels. Substituting for a roof line is the perfectly matched dual windscreens and symmetrical roll bars. Inside, the marks of a past life can still be scene, not by battle scars from the track, but rather by the tools of the trade. Finished in a flawless black, the hand formed aluminum racing seats promise to hold you tight with the contrasting red five-point racing harnesses dropping neatly in the seats. A classic wooden steering wheel ads the appropriate touch of sophistication in the British two seater. The dash is well organized, again clearly focused on the track as the passenger is given a built in stopwatch to keep track of the split times. The Aluminum V-8 stashed beneath the bonnet, while detuned will still motivate this lightweight roadster in a way that will make you appreciate the racing seat belts. Fully rebuilt, the mill was dressed in Offenhauser and topped with a Edelbrock Carburetor, leaving a street friendly package. This remarkable racer is a time capsule of the way things once were. With more than a well-documented SCCA racing history, this Devin comes with the provenance that began as the face of Devin cars and ended atop the podium. Grab this roadster as a spirited back road carver, or put it back on the track at any of the many historic racing events, either way be ready to talk about your unique piece of racing history.

The Model - 1953 marked the 50th Anniversary of General Motors and to celebrate each automotive Division, save Pontiac, was given the chance to produce a limited edition of custom-bodies convertibles. Chevrolet produced the compact Corvette, Oldsmobile fielded the lovely Fiesta, Cadillac the smart Eldorado and Buick, the sporty and elegant Skylark. Each of the full-size convertibles received had a considerable amount of hand-built craftsmanship applied to the bodywork. While the Fiesta was a one-year only model, the Eldorado returned as basically a trimmed-out Series 62 convertible with major body alterations. Buick’s Skylark also returned, but it wasn’t just a re-trimmed Roadmaster, it was marketed as a series unto itself and to many, even more impressive than the original edition. Most notable is the “bobbed” rear quarter treatment featuring shaved down rear panels adorned with huge taillight housings, and all four wheel-wells enlarged and painted in contrasting colors. These were truly impressive cars. 36 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car – For 1953, Skylark saw limited examples produced, and we dare to say that this Matador Red convertible is one of the finest in existence. Treated to a full restoration and kept in a private collection for the past decade, it is turn-key ready. Fitted with all the proper factory accessories including push-button AM radio, heater-defroster, clock, plus power goodies such as steering and brakes, plus power windows, seats and the top, you couldn’t ask for more. Kelsey-Hayes produced the special Skylark wheels, of which this car retains a set with deep and reflective chrome finish plus the special tri-color center cap. All of the unique trim parts from the special taillights to the Skylark badges are exquisite as this is a show car waiting to win awards and bring you smiles. Considered by many to be even more attractive and special than the original, you really did get more from Skylark in ’53.

The Model -After the end of WWII, Mercedes-Benz could have been written off. But determination of those who headed up this company got to work coming up with new designs. Within a few years of being allowed to resume production they were producing more passenger cars than they had before hostilities began. With the introduction of the new 220 series in 1951, they were well on their way to prosperity. Under constant improvements, when the 220S was introduced in 1957, not only sedans and coupes were available, but also a Cabriolet. A total of 2,178 of these sporty cars were built, each one exhibiting the quality of hand-crafted workmanship in regards to the fit and finish of the body, top mechanism, and soft trim. With superb engineering, classic styling and customer loyalty, Mercedes-Benz has gone on to become a world leader in quality automobiles. The Car - One of the most desirable post-war Mercedes-Benz “consumer cars produced the 220S Cabriolet was one of the last hand-assembled cars from Mercedes-Benz. This example has been treated to a cosmetic and mechanical restoration and is finished in Arctic White with dark red leather seating surfaces. The tan soft top fits snug and proper. Beautifully grained wood which appears to be factory installed, as well as the garnish and trim moldings grace the interior of this automobile. Under the hood the engine bay is neat and tidy and a recent road test shows this 220S has a lot of power for a pleasurable cruise. Body panel alignment is at or above the rigid standard set in Stuttgart. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a car that has been appreciating in the eyes of collectors.

The Model - Ever noticed that just before GM retires a generation of cars, they always seem to hold the best for last? With history repeating itself over and over again, that was the case in 2013 as the last of the C6 Corvettes were coming off the assembly line, an honest world-class performance machine was born in the ZR1 package. 638 HP right out of the box, superb handling, excellent braking power and modern technology all combined to create an unbeatable package. When Car & Driver compared the “aging” C6 ZR1 against the brand-spanking new Dodge Viper SRT-GTS, it couldn’t hold a candle to the Corvette with lap time differences of up to two seconds. It might have been the last of a generation, but it was the best. Add to that a number of bonus items, such as the 60th Anniversary trim option, the C6 came in like a lamb and went out like a lion. The Car - This is the ultimate in performance, style and looks, this Arctic White ZR1 accented with the Blade Silver center-stripe is every bit what a modern performance car looks, sounds and acts like. Driven only on short hops, this 2013 Corvette is virtually brand new. With a base price tag started at $111,800, which included a short novel filled with performance items, another $10,000 for the 3ZR option package, and then the addition of the 60th Anniversary package plus gas guzzler tax, the special Design-7 black out alloy wheels and before tax and registration you are right at the $125,000 mark! This car has it all, all of which has been meticulously cared for since new. Who cares about Bluetooth, upgrades Navigation or sound systems, it is the 3.4 seconds of going from 0 to 60 mph that matters, and no other car can take to that speed with the comfort of this Corvette.

The Model - When word got out at the New York Auto Show in November 1935, that Cord was presenting a new design being showcased at the nearby Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, the lines that formed to see this new marvel stretched for blocks. While it may have picked up the nickname of “Coffin-nose”, it would soon become a term of endearment. E.L. Cord’s Central Body Company was able to produce bodies that had unitary construction with concealed door hinges. A step-down floor was made possible by the lack of drive-shaft humps due to the innovative front-wheel drive system, including a rolled under body side, without a hint of a running board, and a front end design with concealed headlights. With the Lycoming produced V8 engine, the Cord 810 was among the best performance cars in America, and built with outstanding workmanship. In recent years the Museum of Modern Art declared this design as one of the most significant cars of the 20th Century.

The Car – This stunning example of a Westchester sedan represents the height of design from America’s Art Deco era. Finished in Ivory White, the interior is done in shades of dark blue with gray broadcloth. The engine-turned aero-inspired instrument panel features the throttle-like controls for the heater and defroster and is fitted with all the factory instrumentation including speedometer, tachometer, amp-meter plus a clock and radio. It appears to have been treated to a cosmetic restoration several years ago and is quite presentable today. Under the hood the engine bay is quite tidy and in order with that Lycoming built V8 engine properly detailed, as are the rest of the mechanics. Reported to start easily, it runs out quite well, with the engine purring so smoothly, one will hardly know it is running. An iconic classic that every 45 collector should own, this is simply a beautiful sedan.

ot 19 L The Model - Do you ever find yourself looking down at the speedometer and find it approaching your cruise speed, right around 200 MPH. Probably not. When Mercedes Benz and McLaren put there heads together on the SLR that was to be released in 2003, paying homage to the 300 SLR, the result was a GT car that would ride along at 150 plus, all day long. Stuffed with an all-aluminum supercharged V8, the McLaren’s side dumped exhaust is nothing short of visceral, producing a sound that would make Tim the “Tool Man” Taylor grunt. Aerodynamics were given special attention on the SLR, giving it unmatched stability at high speeds, even incorporating an air brake to whoa the machine from its 207 MPH top speed, testifying to the speeds that Mercedes and Mclaren expected their clients to be traveling. Giving drivers the whole package is a must in the GT car market, and this collaboration hit the mark with a comfortable interior, enough trunk space for golf clubs, and an active aero package that gives drivers the confidence they need on the fastest tracks in the world. The Car - With the legendary 300 SLR as the backdrop for this coupe, no more fitting color combination could have been chosen to cover the all carbon fiber body as the Coronadite Silver finish over red leather. The heir to a life of status, that silver finish looks as good as when the factory laid it, just a shade over 10,000 miles ago. The exterior finishes up with just a taste of flare with exposed red brake callipers. Upgrades in the interior start with $9,000 worth of Silver Arrow red leather seats set off with black baseball stitching and continue all the way to the floor with leather edged mats. If aggressive lines with a 617 HP V8 dumping its exhaust just in front of the drivers door doesn’t get you excited, perhaps you are looking for a boat, if it does this is the time to grab some of the finest German engineering since the 300 SLR.

The Model - For E. L. Cord, he felt that strong sales of his Auburn brand would carry the rest of the A-C-D automotive empire. 1933 would mark the last year of Leamy’s styling and with limited production, only a few subtle changes were visible, including a redesigned front grill. Auburn fielded a complete line of models that season for both their eight-cylinder and 12-cylinder cars. Enclosed sedans were the top seller, but for the crowd who wanted a sporty ride, something that would turn heads at a social event, the boattail speedster was the rage. However, money was tight and these cars were about as impracticable as could be, resulting in very few sales. As the love of classic cars began to grow in the USA, especially during the late 1970’s and 1980’s, a number of craftsmen created limited production fiberglass bodies for chassis that had been born with a common sedan.

The Model - In January 1964, those attending the Brussels Motor Show in Belgium got to see Ferrari’s replacement for the popular 250 GT 2+2 with the new 330 GT 2+2. Mechanical improvements and aesthetics were noted as was the use of the new more powerful Colombo designed short-block V12. Ideas came from several directions with the canted headlight design attributed to Mike Parkes, a factory test driver. During its run a total of 625 units were produced proving the public loved the ideas behind this sporty 4-place coupe. Pinifarina’s coachwork lent itself well for the purpose of these cars with flowing lines and expert craftsmanship in the build. Also applauded, when new, was the more powerful and efficient engine that boasted a 25% increase over the previous version. Performance, handling and the ability to take friends along, albeit rather cramped in the back, all made for a more practical sporting coupe.

The Car - In 2015, Chassis 7515 was given a sympathetic restoration that insured the integrity of the car, preserving it originality. Ferrari historian Marcel Massini has been able to trace this car back to its July 1965 completion date, where it was fitted with air-conditioning, and its shipment to Luigi Chinetti Motors in New York. In 1973 it was owned by Ewign Hunter a well-known marque dealer in Georgia, and then went through the hands of several other enthusiasts in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. As of 1992 it showed just over 25,000 miles from new. During 2015 new motor mounts were installed as well as new belts, hoses and a partial rebuild of the engine saw new piston rings, rod bearings and valve guides installed. At an earlier date it appears the paint and interior were given a respray and freshening. Ready to go, put the power of a Ferrari V12 at your service.

One of the greatest marketing minds in America’s post-war import automotive world was Max Hoffman. In the fall of 1953, at a special board meeting in Stuttgart, he recommended that if Daimler-Benz could develop a lightweight, sporty car based on their new and popular 180 series and reflect the styling of the 300SL, it would be a winner. Fritz Nallinger was given the task to produce such a car and within five months had created a working prototype ready for exhibition at the 1954 New York Auto Show. Designated the 190SL, it won rave reviews based on its looks and it was announced production would begin for the 1955 model year. The Car - Never one to rest on its laurels, Mercedes-Benz was always improving the product. For 1956 over a dozen improvements were implemented in the 190SL since its first year in production, and this example features all the contemporary updates. Finished in a smooth rich silver color, the body work on this car is lined up at or above factory specifications. The interior is done in pleated saddle-tan leather with matching door panels, while the dashboard shows off the attractive gauges and speedometer which marks this car’s velocity in kilometers per-hour. The original design was for a coupe and specifically aimed at the Chrysler Corporation. It wasn’t hard to adapt this retro-rod design to fit the requirements of being a roadster. It would prove to be the perfect “halo” car for Plymouth, one that company officials could have fun with, customers could enjoy and those watching them drive by would marvel at the sleek looks and peppy performance from a brand that would leave Prowler as its legacy. The Pinnacle of a Testarossa with Classiche Certification

Up to Date serviced and Fully documented

5-Piece Factory-Option Luggage Set and Ferrari Wristwatch

Stunning Low Mileage Preservation Car with All Books and Tools

The Model - By 1978 Ferrari had already began work on a successor to the famed 512BB. Central to the design brief was to address the cabin overheating and storage issues of the earlier car. The new Testarossa, ‘red head’ in English, was a significantly larger vehicle to accommodate the enhanced cooling requirements. These requirements led to a larger wheel base and significantly more passenger and luggage space than the preceding car. New side-mounted radiators cooled the engine and eliminated the need for plumbing to carry hot coolant through the cabin. Large intakes fed cool air to the radiators but created a perceived safety risk for pedestrians. The iconic side strakes were not simply a design cue but an elegant and effective solution by Pininfarina to the legal requirement in some markets prohibiting large openings in the side of vehicles. This cooling airflow helped achieve remarkable aerodynamic efficiency by exiting through the rear deck cancelling lift and eliminating the need for a spoiler. The Testarossa enjoyed a significant aerodynamic advantage over rival Lamborghinis. The five liter boxer engine could accelerate the Testarossa up to 180 miles per hour while the wider stance delivered outstanding handling to make it a brilliant performer in every respect. The looks and performance of the Testarossa appealed to buyers despite its initial price of $181,000. Beyond color and carpet choices there was only one option available to Testarossa buyers, the addition of a Schedoni leather luggage set. Ferrari took deposits for 37 cars at its Paris Motor Show debut to launch a car that became a legend.

The Car - This is the pinnacle of today’s hot Testarossa market. Presented in preservation condition with only 22,137 miles over 29 years, this car bears its original paint and interior in outstanding original condition. The present owner completed the meticulous inspection and evaluation process to earn Ferrari’s coveted Classiche certification as absolutely correct and authentic in every way. In 1987, the original owner of this car had the forethought to select the very rare factory luggage option as the icing on the cake. An original Ferrari wristwatch accompanies this car in addition to the complete records archive. Every original book and tool right down to the spare lightbulb case conveys with this car. Other features include air conditioning, powered mirrors and a heated rear window. Despite its low mileage, this car comes complete and ready to perform with up to date engine-out Ferrari servicing. This incredible car is offered at no reserve and represents an unmatched opportunity to enter the top-tier of the fast-growing 1980s Ferrari market. 67 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Model - Rootes West Coast USA rep, Ian Garrad, figured that to improve Alpine sales an American V8 would improve performance and appeal. Turning to Carroll Shelby they started with the Sunbeam Alpine Mark IV, stuffed a smallblock Ford V8 under the hood, gave it a solid 4-speed transmission, and tweaks to the suspension and brake systems. Presented to the Rootes Group, they loved the car and contracted with Jensen Motors to complete the production of the cars. Often referred to as a “Baby Cobra”, these were hot cars, and had surprisingly excellent handling abilities. To get the engine to set back as far as possible, the firewall was moved back a couple inches, while the original steering box was replaced with MG’s rack and pinion set-up. Shelby didn’t get to name this little car, that honor went to Chairman Lord Rootes, christening this new sports car after the company’s 1926 land-speed record car.

The Model -As the Depression continued its grip on America, the competition for the luxury car market, of which Auburn was considered, was intense. One advantage E.L. Cord had, was his industrial machine which had excellent quality control with engineering, materials and workmanship. Auburn’s chief stylist, Alan Leamy was gifted with talents that could translate his ideas into sheet-metal designs that set the mark for other cars to follow. Among one of the sportiest regular production Auburns ever produced was the Boattail Speedster, a design that made Auburns into legends. With one of the most potent engines on the market, combined with the dual-ratio Columbia rear axle, and a solid well engineered chassis, Auburn’s street performance made for a sporty ride, one that was subtle and humble. With very few of these bodies produced when new, it is no wonder that this superb style has been replicated over the years.

The Car - This beautiful boattail speedster is mounted on a restored chassis, with all the style and looks of an original example. Retaining its original steel radiator shell, hood and firewall from the cowl back, the body and fenders were created with sturdy reinforced layers of fiberglass. Sporting its original engine, fitted with an upgraded Swan intake manifold, the frame was restored to a high luster. The coachwork, finished in dark blue with burgundy accents, captures all the styling cues that made these legends when new. It is fitted with the desirable Woodlite headlights, chrome grille guard, Trippe driving lights and that famous Flying Lady mascot. The interior is finished in burgundy with a black folding soft top, as well as golf-door access to the rear portion of the body. Exacting Copy of Legendary Race Car

Meticulous Replication of Original Designs

The Most Unique Thrill in Driving

Hand Built by Renaissance Argentinian Factory

Superb Craftsmaship Parallel to Ettore’s Standards

The Model - The legendary Type 35 is the most important pre-war race car ever produced. With current values in the neighborhood of $3 million for a original Type 35, not many people own one, and fewer ever experience the thrill of driving one. In the late 1980’s, an Argentina based restorer specializing in Bugatti, Leonida Anadon knew that a real Type 35 was far out of his reach. Using a customer’s car as a pattern, he set about to build himself an authentic replica of this historic model. When first shown, others asked for a copy, and thus was born Pur Sang. These cars are not just a borrowed chassis and engine with outside skin that looks like the Bugatti, these cars are built in the old-world artisan ways. With Argentina’s material restrictions, Pur Sang had to create everything, the castings, emblems, even the tires, were all built under the strictest in quality control. We’re sure Ettore Bugatti would approve. The Car -One of the beauties of Pur Sang’s Type 35s is that it should be driven, and this one has seen its share of miles. The paint work exhibits a few small cracks and dings, adding to the character of the car by providing a patina of enjoyment. Driving the Pur Sang is like driving the real thing, with cable operated brakes, authentic instrumentation and controls, and even the safety wire used to secure the body panels. Brightwork shows some aging but no sign of neglect, and mechanically, it is as pure as one could hope. Pur Sang employed a couple of well concealed updates, such as a plain crankshaft rather than the roller bearing style and the magneto has been replaced with a modern distributor, but you can’t tell that looking at the dash. If you’ve ever wanted to drive a vintage Bugatti but didn’t want to risk a multi-million dollar investment, Pur Sang will fill that thrill. 72 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

Unique Looks, Registered as Motorcycle

Upgraded Brakes & Rare Magneto

The Model - Constructed like its older brother the A-108, with a steel backbone chassis, the Alpine A-110 kept its weight down with a fiberglass body. Designed by Michelotti, this competition derived, streetable Renault is a French favorite that was also built in Mexico where it carried the name Dinalpin and in Bulgaria as a Bulgaralpine. The body work in the rear of the car was reshaped to accommodate the new bigger engines. This reshaping would give the car a more aggressive look that would look right at home on the rally circuits. The Alpine wouldn’t just look good on a rally course it was quite the competitor, even winning the inaugural World Rally Championship in 1973.

Desirable Open-Car Model

The Model -Despite the ever-growing economic woes that had adverse effects on most of America’s luxury car makers, Auburn actually saw growth offering quality vehicles at reasonable prices. This meant that the buyers of new cars wanted to get the most for their money, and they were not disappointed with the 8-100A series. With higher output engines and outstanding designs from the company’s chief stylist, Alan Leamy, the Auburn presented some of the most attractive and streamlined cars on the market. E.L. Cord, owner of The Auburn Automobile Company at that time, had put together a complete industrial empire that included the Limousine Body Company, as well as the Lycoming Foundry and Machine Company. Even with tough economic times, the quality of build and materials used for Auburns was second to none. This applied to the workmanship and design, both exemplified in this beautiful and stately automobile.

The Car - Finished in dark blue with burgundy accents, this Phaeton Sedan shows a professional level restoration that appears to have been completed several decades ago. It has been used rather sparingly. This beautiful Leamy designed body is trimmed with oxblood finished leather seats and a dark blue soft top that is snug and fits quite well. The body appears to be solid with no signs of rust-out corrosion or body damage. Auburn’s stylistic Flying Lady mascot graces the radiator top while the grill is protected by a custom chrome guard. Retaining its original massive headlights, they are accompanied by a pair of Trippe driving lights. Four knock-off chrome wire wheels are all in place as well as the dual side-mount spares. Qualified for participation in ACD and CCCA events, you will be kept busy touring, exhibiting and maybe even dusting off the trophies you may well be bringing home with this Indiana classic.

One of Only 970 Merak SS produced,

One of Only 314 with Bora Style Dash

Unrestored Survivor

The Model – Maserati introduced the Merak in 1972, to expand the company’s model range, as well as to feature their new four-cam V-6. The new V-6 engine was designed for the the company’s current owner, Citroën, and they were also hopeful it would let Maserati compete in the growing market of small displacement engines. The V-6 was also to be used in Citroen’s flagship MS model. In 1977 Maserati was sold to De Tomaso, and the Merak received several updates, the Bora was dropped and the Merak SS 3.0L V-6 received increased output of 190 hp in the US, and 220 hp for rest of world. De Tomaso also phased out the Citroen hydraulic system, opting for a more traditional setup. Later versions of the Merak SS featured more attractive bits like the dash from its big brother, the Bora. Throughout its production run, 1972 to 1983, a total of 1,830 Merak variations were built, of which about a scant 970 were the Merak SS. The Car – This unique Merak SS is an outstanding original survivor, with only 14,145 miles. As one of about 150 produced in 1980 the factory Rosso Fuoco retains a remarkable finish and luster, for a 36 year old exotic. The original interior is clean and complete with working gauges, switches and original Blaupunkt Radio. The original tool kit, owners manual, parts catalog, original window sticker are included, as well as many service receipts that validate the meticulous maintenance this Italian has received. Only 314 Merak SS models were produced with the very attractive Bora style interior dash and this offering happens to benefit from that upgrade. In a recent refresh the SS was treated to a valve adjustment, reconditioning of the carburetors, new fuel hoses, and new oil cooler hoses. The engine was also allowed to breath with the upgraded Euro exhaust manifolds. If your collection happens to include a Dino, this is your chance to share the rest of the story with a sure collector, this was Maserati’s answer to the other Italian star. W W W. ot 34 L 2005 Ferrari 575M Maranello Designer: Pininfarina

Acclaimed Modern Pininfarina Design

Balanced Performance and Comfort

Arguably the Most Handsome GT

Estimate: $200,000 - $275,000 Chassis Number: ZFFBV55A250140519 Engine: 5.7 Liter Tipo F133 E V12 6-speed F1 Electrohydraulic Four Wheel Disc Brakes Mileage: 5,430 Actual Miles The Model - If you grew up in the 1980s, you probably believed that all Ferraris had mid-mounted engines and wildly exotic lines, with strakes down the side that defined the era more than the prancing pony in the grill. But in 1996 Ferrari released the 550 Maranello, a front engine V12 car that shrugged off the razor sharp edges of Italian exotics that preceded it, for long nosed, short rear deck, quintessentially GT car lines, something the company had not produced since the mid- 70’s. By 2002 the model needed some updating, and if the 550 was good, the 575M was great. When the 575 was released, power was up over twenty horse power to 508 and shifting duties were now under the purview of the electronic F1 paddle shifted transmission. The suspension was upgraded with road sensing dampers that adjust 80 times per second, delivering a comfortable ride, for a car that can hit 200 mph that is. Unlike some previous Ferraris, the 575 was drivable by everyone and you didn’t need any special skills to pilot one. The cabin space for two, would even fit a 6 foot tall man comfortably behind the wheel. The 575 was an everyday grand tourer in the truest sense of the word, giving anyone with the cash the opportunity take the control of one of Italy’s top performers. The Car - Unique and gorgeous Grigio Alloy paint was applied to this 575M and today that paint remains nearly flawless. With only 5,400 miles and a clean Carfax which shows one owner, this pony sports only factory appointed equipment including the wheels and tires. Taking a peek inside you will see the Sand colored leather that offers a seat that looks like you are going to be the first sit behind the wheel. The coupe’s meticulous maintenance is evidenced inside, with the bounty of leather inside wrapping most everything, in near showroom condition. This GT car comes complete with the factory appointments like the tools in the interior color leather case. Even the factory battery tender has a luxurious feel when resting in its Italian cowhide home. The V12 exhaust notes are mild and pleasing, especially if you knock the paddle back a couple of times for a two gear downshift and let the engine zip to its 7200 rpm HP peak. The V12 in this 575 has spent most of its life resting quietly, oil change intervals measured in time rather than miles. Despite its life of leisure, this pony has regularly stretched its legs. It was also treated to $17,000 in maintenance at an authorized Ferrari store four hundred miles ago, keeping the drive train ready to go. While speculation about any Ferrari’s future always points to collector status, it certainly couldn’t hurt to throw your clubs in the back of this genuine GT car and take the back road to the club house. Prestige and Notoriety in Culture of Car Design

The Model - One of the most striking pre-WWII automobiles ever produced was the fabulous 500K “Special Roadster”. It not only exudes fine German craftsmanship in styling, but the mechanics were many years ahead of the competition. Built to exemplify the modern autobahns the government was building these cars were everything they were envisioned to be. Unfortunately, very few of these cars survived, so enter Franz Prahl situated in Oldendorf, Germany. Using many of the skills and techniques employed by Mercedes’ in house coachbuilder Sindelfingen, Prahl set about to replicate these beautiful cars on original chassis and running gears from less desirable model, or example that had suffered irreparable damage. Just as when new and each car could be ordered to fill the customer’s whims, Prahl’s skills allow discerning enthusiasts to make suggestions that would have been allowed when these were the newest cars on the road. The Model - In 1943 Czechoslovakian brothers František and Mojmír Stránský designed and built a prototype small, inexpensive three-wheeled car, inspired by three-wheelers from Morgan Motor Company. In 1945, the brothers built their first production cars, using vinyl cloth instead of sheet metal as the bodywork. Powered by small motorcycle engines, the vehicles were priced at about one fourth of the cost of a typical car. After the war, the brothers joined with Velo, a small manufacturing company later renamed to Velorex. On January 21, 1954, František Stránský died in the crash of a Velorex prototype. His brother, Mojmír, refused to join the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and was ousted from the company he had founded. In 1963, production of the newly designed “Model 16” started fitted with either ČZ 175 or Jawa 350 type 572 engines. The Car - This Velorex 16/350 is fresh from a 2015 nut and bolt restoration. It is powered by the larger Jawa 350 vertical twin engine. Jawa motorcycles were imported into the US, enhancing parts support for this vehicle. The unique twostroke is timed at top,dead-center allowing the Dynastarter to fire the engine in either direction allowing this Velorex four speeds in either direction. The fit of the interior and exterior upholstery is fantastic. The attention to detail in reproducing the correct tight-fitting outer panels is exquisite. The dash retains its correct Skoda instrumentation. Fine wood finishing covers the dash and floor. With fewer than a dozen of these cars in the US and none likely in this condition, this amazing Velorex will be the cornerstone of any microcar collection.

The Model - One of the driving forces for a whole separate breed of “pony” cars, otherwise known as sport compacts, was the Trans Am series in motorsports. 290 HP seemed to be the magic number as the Boss 302’s main competition, namely Dodge Challenger T/A, Plymouth ‘Cuda AAR and Chevrolet’s Z28 Camaro, all featured powertrains advertised at this same level. These cars were, and still are fast, as well as attractive, and represented a segment of the performance world that wasn’t quite muscle-car status, but could hold their own on the street or the track. Responsible for the exterior styling of the Boss was 302 was gifted designer Larry Shinoda. He had come over from GM to Ford at the request of Semon “Bunkie” Knudson. His touches not only added a visual impact, but the spoilers and ground effects helped them hold the road too. This Mustang exemplifies the term Boss. The Car - Finished in Calypso Coral, one of the most sought after colors for collectors, this Mustang shows just over 44,000 documented miles. Described as a “totally unmolested and in its original condition” by our consignor, it has all the right stuff. A numbers matching drive train includes the engine and transmission, and even the rear end. The title is still in the original owner’s name which is included with the car. Still visible are the markings placed on the firewall at the Dearborn plant some 45+ years ago, and helping to reinforce the heritage of this car is an original broadcast form, or build sheet, recovered from the car, as well as a Deluxe Marti report that chronicles this car’s history from the day it was ordered. Stunning Dimensionally-Correct Hand-Crafted Aluminum Body

Presented in #18 Rolt / Hamilton LeMans-Winning Markings

Exceptional As-New Condition

The Model – Following the end of World War II, few car manufacturers were in a position to market truly new products. Jaguar Cars was one of the few exceptions. Jaguar was set to release a sophisticated new overhead-valve twin-cam engine when most competitors were still using primitive side-valve engines. In searching for a high-impact product to debut the new XK engine, Jaguar built the now-famous XK120. Intended as a halo product destined for limited production, Jaguar was suddenly flooded with orders for their new sports car. Soon a racing legend was born. Bolstered by the initial success of the road going XK120 at LeMans, Jaguar director, William Lyons, set his company on an ambitious path to win the LeMans 24 hour endurance race. Bob Knight designed the competition or C-Type around a tubular steel space frame that was clothed in a curvaceous Malcolm Sayer-styled aluminum body that would influence Jaguar design for decades to come. The C-Type won LeMans in its first outing in 1951 and again in 1953. These cars achieved legendary status for their prowess in endurance and sports car racing. Today, ownership remains an exclusive club with only 53 original C-Types produced.

Power is transmitted via a four-speed manual transmission to a period-correct live axle. The front frame and suspension incorporate the developments of the later E-Type. This car features dual-wishbone front suspension matched with power assisted Dunlop front disk brakes, adjustable coil-over dampers and precise rack and pinion steering. The rear suspension also features adjustable coil-over dampers mated to a triangulated panhard bar suspension and Girling drum brakes. This outstanding car is immaculately finished in the authentic British Racing Green and #18 markings of the Tony Rolt & Duncan Hamilton car that won LeMans in 1953. With little usage since its construction, this car presents in as-new condition. This C-Type evocation is titled as a 1965 Jaguar and boasts authentic period details including correct brooklands windscreen, painted wire wheels and matching spare located in a lockable storage compartment, a quick-release fuel cap, side-lock bonnet handles and leather bonnet straps. The interior centers around the correct black leather racing seats and presents the driver with a spectacular Moto Lita steering wheel and vintage Smiths instrumentation including the odometer reading 86,600 from a previous installation. The Model - If you have ever lived in your older brother’s shadow you know that you have to do something fantastic to develop your own identity. Following up a lineage that included the legendary Countach and the equally stunning Diablo, the Murcielago showed the world what Italian excotics were going to look like 2001 on. However if you live in the US, you would have to wait until 2002 for yours. The scissor doors gave the already fascinating shape an additional element of exclusivity. If it was exclusivity you were looking for, Lambo had just the ticket in 2010 with the release of the LP650-4 Roadster. Overdosed with power, the limited edition would only see fifty of the amped up all wheel drive machines on the road. While a roadster had been available, the aptly name LP650-4 boosted power from the V12 to 641 hp which was rounded up when giving the bull its nomenclature.

The Car - Only one color was offered in the LP650-4 Roadster variant, and the people at Lamborghini chose well. Grigio Telesto paint covers the outside of this Italian, creating an unblemished, factory smooth finish. Designers tagged the LP650-4s with orange highlights that bring the already bold lines to life, and lets the world know you sprung for the extra power. With only fifty of these outrageous rides built it’s no surprise the odometer only has 1350 miles on it. The exterior also sports a clear bonnet cover, a $25,000 dollar option, making the engine visible as well as making this one of the most highly optioned of the fifty units built. 98 W W W. While development was progressing on a new line of sports cars, it was necessary to keep up cash-flow so as to pay the hired help and fund the research and development programs going on. Virtually identical to the final civilian models produced in 1939, one feature that was missing were the “SS” badges. Unofficially these early post-war cars were deemed the Mark IV, and would later set off a series of upscale saloons that would be in production up through the early 1960’s. While a cozy inside ride was fun, there were those looking for a bit more excitement, enter the drop-head coupe. The cars proved topdown open-air motoring could really be an enjoyable sensation. With reliable mechanics and classic design the Mark IV Jaguar produced enough income for something called XK to come to life. The Car - This Mark IV drop-head coupe is finished in dark green with the interior trimmed in a light tan, providing comfortable seating for four. The folding soft top is a light olive hue and features the folding landau bars. This is a factory left-hand drive model, indicating it was most likely shipped new to North America as a car-hungry market existed, and luxury vehicles such as this Jaguar were in high demand. It is fitted with a full-set of Jaguar knock-off chrome wire wheels, and retains it Lucas lighting system. Under the hood the engine is tidy, but as this is a driver-quality car, there is a light patina of use. This second generation of Corvettes is considered by many to be the “Apex” of the marque. While faster, sleeker and more powerful generations have since been developed, it is the original “Stingray” design that continues to capture the image and spirit of what a sporting, mass produced sports car should be. Produced for just five seasons, the 1967’s are in a league of their own with regards to power trains, accessories and the fact that they were the last of the breed. With just 8,509 coupes produced in that final year, finding one that’s preserved and presented in its original configuration doesn’t happen every day.

Rare Pino Verde in Top Condition

The Model -Two years after the 330 GT 2+2 was introduced, Ferrari presented the 330 GTC. It was a marriage of two outstanding designs and concepts. Customers enjoyed the luxury appointments found in the 330, but wanted the handling performance of something a little more potent, enter the steering, suspension and transmission of the fabulous 275 GTB. With the axles moved 10 inches closer together to provide a superior handling package, coupled with the 300 HP Colombo V12, 0-60 MPH times were less than six seconds. Elements of design were borrowed from several other models, such as the rear design coming from the 275 GTS as well as elements for the 500 Superfast providing excellent visibility. In the more compact passenger compartment, a luggage shelf replaced the back seats. Add to the package independent rear suspension and these not only traveled in a straight line, but handled curves like an Italian lover. W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Model -In 1950s Japan, the Willys M38 Jeep served as the starting point for Toyota’s new FJ40 series Land Cruiser utility vehicle. The FJ40 proved to be rigid and durable, making considerable inroads into the Jeep market in the United States throughout the 1960s and 1970s. From its introduction in 1960, the FJ40 was available in a variety of versions. Part of its success was due to a basic platform that was much larger than the Jeep. From 1975 the FJ40 series saw significant improvements with the addition of better low range gearing and the outstanding 2F engine. The 2Fs FJ40s enjoyed 135 bhp from the 4.2 liter unit. The majority of 40 series Land Cruisers were built as twodoor hard-top models. Very few vehicles were built as medium wheelbase two-door soft-top FJ43 model. Today the rare FJ43 represents the ultimate in collectability amongst classic truck enthusiasts due to its basic simple and solid design and the flexibility that the larger open-bed design offers. The Car - This 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 Soft Top represents the most desirable Land Cruiser variant in the finest condition. No FJ43s were sold new in the US. This FJ43 spent its early years in Colombia before receiving a no-expense spared restoration. Every fitting and component has been replaced or restored to ensure that this truck is the finest FJ available. All restoration work was completed by professionals who spent over a thousand hours taking this truck down to bare metal and correctly repairing or replacing all damaged components before treating it to spectacular paintwork inside and out before building it up into as-new condition. No detail was missed as all surfaces, even the special-finish seat backs, gauge cluster, console, glovebox, valve cover, fuel line cover and back door trim were expertly refinished. All turn signals and brake lights and other electrical components are as new. The upholstery and seat belts are fresh and correct throughout as are all trim pieces and emblems. The mechanical components received the same treatment as the newly-overhauled 2F 4.2 liter engine drives freshly rebuilt front and rear axles turning new wheels and tires. All-new brake booster and cylinder components provide the stopping power. This incredibly rare and desirable soft top FJ43 is amazing throughout and represents the absolute pinnacle of the classic Land Cruiser market.

The XK series developed into a line of legends that provided performance with as much luxury as possible, and with high enough production to be competitive on the open market. Starting with the XK120, races were won and records set. With the XK140, sales were strong, and performance was stronger. With the XK150, all things came together, style, speed and a bit of luxury for anyone lucky enough sitting behind the steering wheel. Offered in three basic models, roadster, fixed-head coupe and the drop-head coupe, Jaguar sports cars were in high demand and the company was in the black. Production of the drop-head coupe between 1958 and 1961 came to 1,903 and today they are respected around the world as a classic design.

ot 46 L 1930 Cord Front Drive “L29” Cabriolet Designer: William Lyons

Estimate: $425,000 - $550,000

Chassis Number: 2926853 Engine Number: FD1428 Decoded: T=3.5L 6-cylinder; 5745=Unit Number Engine: 298 cid “side-valve” in-line 8-cyl. 2-barrel Carburetor/125 bhp 3-Speed “Vac-Gear” Semi-Automatic Transmission Four Wheel Hydraulic Drum Brakes The Model - It was a total departure from the norm, when Cord introduced its new Front Drive model in late 1928, there was little that was conventional about it. An American hero of the racing circuit, Harry Miller had been championing front-drive cars for years and held a number of patents. When E.L. Cord set about to create an engineering marvel, Miller’s ideas were called upon. Attached to each of these early Front Drives is a patent plate listing a number of his inventions. Reversing the engine on the chassis and placing the transmission at the front of the car eliminated the need for higher off the ground bodies, allowing designers to build more streamlined and modern body creations. It is interesting that it wasn’t until after these cars were known as the L29, as they were simply referred to in factory literature as the Front Drive by Cord. The Car - Stunning is the one word that sums up the beauty of this Cabriolet. Finished in striking two-tone scheme of lavender and purple, this car was treated to a full restoration at which time it was fitted with full disc wheels, even for the dual side-mounted spares, as well as a set of Woodlites headlights accompanied by a very rare set of matching cowl lights. One of the most unique accessories on this Cord is the Universal Gear Shift Corporations pneumatic shifting device. Similar in principle to the later pre-selectors used by Cord, the driver places the indicator into the gear he wants and the transmission is automatically shifted into the desired gear when the clutch pedal is depressed. This may well be the only working example of this device left in service, and it happens to be a star of the show for Amelia. 114 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

Stainless Steel Hood & Teak Wood Deck

2008 International Auto Show Car

The Model - With a reputation for pomp and circumstance that dates back to the 1920s, Rolls Royce continued seamlessly as they entered into an era under the tutelage of BMW. The first Phantom under BMW ownership was released in 2003, but as they often do, the public loved the car but demanded a convertible. To meet that demand Rolls-Royce unveiled the Phantom drophead coupe at the North American Auto show in detroit in 2007. Based on the Phantom’s platform, the Drophead coupe did not disappoint, housing BMW’s V12 that was sourced for power in the behemoth, slinging it from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds, not bad considering it weighs in at 5800 pounds. Even with its German infusion, the Phantom remains polite as ever, even offering you an umbrella when you open the door. The doors also close themselves with a push of a button, like having a valet at every stop. The Phantom has attempted to anticipate your every need, putting a solution at your fingertips. To say that the Phantom is plush would be understating the stateliness and grace the Marque has delivered. W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - Merlot was a particularly refined choice for this truly refined auto. That bespoke finish remains full of life today, ready for its next upscale duty. Offering a masculine contrast to the exterior aesthetics is the stainless steel hood option, that when ordered commanded a hefty price tag. In order to not go unnoticed, the rear deck is fitted with teak wood giving this Phantom the most desirable features available. Every bit as elegant, the interior is composed of light cream and black leather. The dash is another fine example of what Rolls-Royce can do with wood, a feature carried over to the veneered dash and even the spokes on the steering wheel. With only 3,573 miles the V12 is just getting started, and with a full service recently completed the almost 6000 pound wonder is ready to offer you a reprieve from the world as you travel around the city or the highways between. Raise your hand high, and forget about the trailer, treat yourself to a ride home in this true luxury car that was displayed at the North American International Auto Show Car by Rolls-Royce in 2008. The Model - In the latter half of the 1980’s shortly after the 911 Carrera cabriolets had been released, it was suggested by Porsche historian and journalist Paul Frere that a lighter weight special edition would be enjoyed by Porsche enthusiasts in countries with a more favorable climate, such as the U.S.A. A prototype was shown at the 1987 Frankfurt Auto Show and both the press and the public expressed their delight in its design and reported performance. Introduced in 1989 as a member of the K-Series 3.2 Liter Carrera family, the new Speedster was a hit. To save weight the windshield was removable and a thin soft “emergency” top was used. Rear seats were deleted, replaced by a fiberglass tonneau to seal off the rear portion of the car. Flared wheel arches, the “wide-body” Turbo look, side panels, a “whale tail” rear spoiler and special Fuchs forged alloy wheels completed the package. 122 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - Finished in Guards Red this Speedster is complimented by a black partial leather interior. Looking fresh is the folding black top, which is to be used sparingly. This well-appointed two-seater is fitted with all of the regular Speedster equipment such as the stabilizer bars, the shortened shift lever, and a Blaupunkt AM-FM-Cassette entertainment center. One important option it appears to have are the Sport seats that can be adjusted electrically, as well as the four-spoke steering wheel, while black Fuchs wheels show no sign of contact with curbs or other road hazards. Paint appears to be original and in excellent condition while the interior looks nearly factory fresh, and who could expect less with just 8,900 miles from new. Also included are the original books, tools, jack and receipts. This is a rare opportunity for the discerning Porsche collector to acquire a blast from the past with modern 123 mechanics. W W W. The Model - In racing, cars usually naturally conform to the agreed upon fast standard. But every now and then a radical idea comes along that catches the world off guard. That was the case when in Harry Miller showed up to the 1937 Indianapolis 500 with the engine at the wrong end of the car, with all 4-wheels propelling the futuristic racer. It failed to qualify but, burgeoning racers themselves, the Gulf Oil company saw the virtue in the design and promptly commissioned 3 to be built for the 1938 Indy 500. Only one of the Gulf Millers made it to the track that year and was too late for a qualifying attempt. Three cars did attempt to make the field in 1939, but only one driver could wheel the machine well enough, making it the first rear engine car to hit the bricks for the 500. That day George Bailey completed 47 circuits before a mechanical failure took him out of the race. Racers would continue to try the rear engined car until 1947, however,no one more successful than Bailey. Only one of the three original car still exists, at home in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum. 128 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Model - Introduced in January of 1990 in Monte Carlo, the Diablo took the place of the long running Lambo flagship, the Countach. With Chrysler money paying the bills at Lamborghini, the Diablo would receive the American treatment, softening the razor sharp edges that defined the previous line. The still radical exotic would continue to roam the streets in its original form until 1999, when it was modernized, preparing the almost ten year old model for the new millennium. The most noticeable of the 21st century changes was to do away with the dated pop-up headlights. If you needed just a little more from your Lambo the Italian automaker was happy to oblige. How about a drop-top, allwheel drive version. As if the fixed top version was not thrilling enough, the Roadster VT became available in 1995, receiving the same cosmetic updates in 1999. With the added traction and electrically controlled carbon fiber targa top, the Roadster VT was ready to set you back in your seat.

The Car - Formed in cold black, this Italian bull’s finish is factory correct and shines like a mirror. Lacking a contrasting trim the exotic lines speak for themselves. Just over 8,000 miles showing on the clock make this complete and correct exotic a showroom example of Lamborghinis first modern supercar. By 1967 the Stingray boasted power disk brakes, limited-slip differential, all-wheel independent suspension and an enviable array of engine options to make this final year of the C2 Corvette more than a match for the competition. As many buyers eagerly awaited the release of the all-new C3 Corvette, sales remained slow. Today, collectors recognize the 1967 Corvette for its modernized performance in a beautiful vintage package. Low production volume and several unique characteristics have now conspired to make the 1967 one of the most in-demand and collectible of all Corvettes. The appearance of the big block ‘Stinger hood and one-year-only bolt-on aluminum wheels are some of the more desirable options that drive the collectability of the 1967 Stingray. The Car - This outstanding example of the Eldorado Brougham is finished in Deauville Gray and is one of just 304 units produced that model year. With a base price of $13,074, it was reported that GM was still losing nearly $4,000 per Brougham. In 2009, this Cadillac was given a premium quality repaint in its original color and reupholstered in its original Medium blue leather and Parisienne cloth interior. Riding on proper low-profile tires with correct wheel covers, it has been retrofitted with a new self-leveling air suspension system and the original AM radio was converted to AM-FM operations. What sets this Brougham apart are the “vanity” accessories included such as the cigarette case, ladies compact with leather backed mirror, cross mechanical pencil, and an atomizer that held one ounce of Lanvin’s Arpege perfume. A very beautiful and stunning example of the epitome of motoring elegance, this Brougham should not be missed. W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

High Quality Workmanship

Authenticity in Detail

Enjoyable Performance and Handling

Estimate: $85,000 - $105,000 Engine Number: 1R7694 Decoded: 1R=Series II/4.2 L E-Type; 7694=unit sequence Engine: 4235cc DOHC in-line 6-cyl. 2XSUl Carburetors/246 bhp 4-Speed Manual Transmission Power Assisted Four Wheel Hydraulic Drum Brakes Mileage: 34,475 The Model – When Jaguar introduced the E-type, it was an immediate success. Born from lessons learned with the streamlined D-type racing car, the E-types employed a semi-monocoque tub with bolt-on sub-frames to support the engine and independent front suspension. The early models won acclaim around the world and midway through the first series the engine was enlarged to 4.2 Liters. New regulations in the areas of safety, emissions and even materials used, were driving factors in developing the Series II E-type. Headlights were brought out in the open, knock-off wheels were banned and engine output was a bit more regulated. But there were improvements too, such as disc brakes on all four corners and a fully synchronized four-speed transmission. Larger, more visible taillights were also employed and the car’s popularity in the USA continued to grow. With the looks and performance of a Ferrari or Aston Martin, the E-type was very appealing and was offered at a fraction of the competition’s cost. The Car – Sporting a restoration from several years ago this Primrose Yellow “OTS” roadster features black leather bucket seats and a form-fitted black soft top. Starting with a straight body, high quality paint was used in the process and today the panel fit is at or above factory standards. All chrome trim was replated or replaced as necessary and the chrome wire wheels sparkle in the sunlight. With an eye towards authenticity, the floor covering and canvas top follow all the factory specs including the use of the proper leathers for the seats. Many drivers prefer the functionality of the Series II and this example shows why, with trouble-free shifting, ample performance and a few more creature comforts that make motoring a pleasure. Overall, this is a splendid example of a gentleman’s sports car that even the ladies can enjoy, and is ready for the road or to participate in a laid-back show. 146 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - Always a head turner, this limited production Defender’s finish has been treated to an easy life, still sporting a nearly new factory finish in Glasmere Green accented with an Alaskan White roof. The matching “steelies wrapped in nearly new Goodyear Wranglers complete the exterior nostalgic look. The interior is a departure from the retro theme, adding just enough creature comforts to make the four wheeler comfortable enough for any adventure. The seats are an outdoorsy Almond Reserve colored cloth trimmed in black, and have seen limited use. The old world does show through with shift levers for both the transmission and transfer case jutting from the floorboard, but now are covered in perforated leather that matches the steering wheel. As a nearly new truck, this tribute to the past is mechanically ready for the rigors of any distance, weekend camping trips or to be parked next to an original 1948 HUE-166 in a contemporary collection. Wherever this green machine ends up it will certainly be the center of attention. Land Rover had no plans to release the Heritage editions defender in the United States, and with plans to permanently close the Solihull if you have your sights set on one of this limited collector pieces, opportunities to purchase one are sure to be limited.

Factory Heritage Edition

The Model - To understand the Heritage edition Land Rover we need to look back almost 70 years to the company’s beginnings, when in a post war era, short on materials, two brothers intended to cure the ailing Jeep. Hue 166 rolled out as prototype in March of 1948, the embodiment of the brother’s vision. There was nothing sport about this new vehicle, as it was all utility. While it lacked the obligatory headrest DVD player of today’s SUVs, it did feature a three person front seat and a power take off (PTO) to run farm equipment. The name Land Rover was arrived at quite logically, as the design team wanted a truck that could rove about any land. Equipped with tractor like mechanicals, the able new 4-wheeler was an instant hit in rural England. Like its shifting transmission the public clamored for more of the sparse little go getters, seeing production reach 10,000 units while still in development. Until 2015, that same off-roader has stayed in production in some configuration. Defying all the trends, what would eventually become the Defender, never had the identity crisis that drew so many soccer moms to the SUV market. At times while driving the all-time all-wheel drive SUV, shifting may have felt more like that of a John Deere than a Range Rover, just the way Land Rover aficionados wanted it, staying true to the vision of yesteryear.

While the sedans and hardtops were the bread and butter of Cadillac sales, a convertible was the ultimate sign of success. Taking it one step higher to the zenith of conspicuous-consumption, was the Eldorado Biarritz convertible. The entire Eldorado family represented the ultimate in motoring including the Seville hardtop and the Pininfarina bodied Brougham fourdoor hardtop. But it was the convertible that would turn heads wherever it arrived. What would be optional in most cars was standard equipment for the Biarritz. Power steering, brakes, windows and seats were all standard equipment. Under the hood, Cadillac’s powerful V8 engine was upgraded with a dual four-barrel carburetor set-up that made this engine one of the most powerful in the industry. Around the world, Cadillac was recognized for its leadership in the production of luxury automobiles. The Car - Treated to a full restoration, the 1960 Eldorado Biarritz convertible, which we are proud to present, comes from a noted collector, who kept it protected in a climate controlled environment for the past decade. Recently treated to a “re-awakening” it is ready for the road or the show field. With a body that is smooth with proper gaps, it is finished in Seminole Red and is accented with white leather seats and a white top, that when placed in the down position is concealed by the hardcover parade boot. One of the few options available on this car was air-conditioning, of which this example has, as well as upgraded chrome wire wheels on all four corners. With gleaming chrome, clean and clear tinted windows all around and a soft top that fits like a glove, this Eldorado is a truly spectacular car worthy of being in a collection of only the finest automobiles. The Model - The Ferrari marque has always enjoyed an executive level of exclusivity, so when the people in Maranello leaked the news they would be pre-selling their most exclusive ride to date; all 80 examples of the 599 SA Apertas were snatched up by Ferrari’s most elite buyers. The name alone signaled something special lay underneath, with the SA signature paying homage to Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina, and Aperta simply meaning “open”. The Aperta has a reconfigured chassis and a lower, stiffer windscreen with a steeper rake, fitting for a tribute to patriarchs of quintessential Italian design. To keep weight as close to the closed top version as possible, the top is a flip back style, or an “emergency top”, not intended for regular use. As for motivation, the Aperta relies on the GTO’s eager 660 HP V12. Truly a design masterpiece the 599 masterfully transformed the track-only 599XX into a proper drop-top roadster. 156 W W W. The Car - In new showroom condition with only 180 Miles on the clock, this Ferrari is covered in the automakers darkest and most threatening hue, Nero Daytona Metallic, which remains essentially flawless. The sleek exterior lines are accented with tasteful helpings of silver up the A pillar and extending all the way back to the elegant buttresses that form the aerodynamic roof line. The optional yellow brakes and the obligatory yellow Ferrari badge that adorn the fenders complete the classic Ferrari mystique. From the race inspired beige Italian leather seats, you immediately notice the white glove treatment this collector’s item has been given. The seats show virtually no signs of use as evidenced by the odometer. The dynamic interior comes alive with the carbon fiber dash trim and matching piping. The exhaust note produced by the factory maintained 65 degree V12 begs you to hit the oversized paddle shifter and race toward the red line. No matter if you intend to stable this Italian stallion, preserving it for future generations or if you intend to take the bait and hit the road, with only 80 examples built, the opportunity to obtain a SA Aperta, a true icon, should not be passed over.

The Model - The Iconic Mini was born of a partnership and would continue to improve as further partnerships were made. In order to save the businesses after World War II, Nuffield Motors and Austin came together to produce the Mini. As a gas shortage was occurring, the shift to smaller cars with smaller engines had begun. These little cars would still be expected to pull their load, in the case of the Mini that meant transporting four adults that would have a combined weight totaling more than the entire weight of the car. The next partnership would bring racing great John Cooper into the mix. With the use of his 1275 cc engine, the Mini would be transformed from a casual compact car to a sporty microcar that has since become a centerpiece of automotive history. The Car - For all intent and purposes, this Mini Cooper is a essentially a modern final edition of the classic mini cooper. The last series of Mini Coopers built before production was ceased overseas in 2000 was called the MK VII. Fitted with modern amenities such as the largest fuel injection 1275 cc engine, air bags, electronic controls, alarms system, modern brakes, upgraded suspension and even leather interior, this Mini Copper was restored to the exact specifications of the best and last production model of the iconic micro car. This outstanding example will bring a smile every time it’s driven to even the most discerning collector.

The Model -In the mid-1960s work began on the design of the third generation of America’s Sports Car, the Corvette. One wonders that as the stylists were designing this new car based on the Mako Shark, if they had any idea this family of coupes and convertibles would be around until the early 1980’s? It does have a muscular stance with dramatic lines that seem to replicate the air as it streams over the sensuous curves. Introduced in 1968, one thing missing from the Corvette that season was the Stingray nameplate. A major campaign to drop that name and call the new Corvette King of the Road had been planned, until a devilish Texan name Shelby announced a super edition of his car which would be called the King of the Road, the GT500KR. Stingray was back for 1969, as was a big block 427 in several flavors and lots of excitement. The Car - This original big-block Corvette has been well preserved, but was never locked away or forgotten. Showing less than 70,000 miles from new, it left the St. Louis plant in its deep Fathom Green paint with a matching interior. This would be the last year the 427 could be found in Corvettes, and 10,531 customers stepped up and ordered the 390 HP “L36” edition of this high performance engine that also pumped out 460 foot-pounds of torque. Virtually untouched from new this coupe retains its original AM-FM radio and all the factory installed gauges, which are clean, clear and working. The original Rally wheels are currently wearing blackwall tires that give it an aggressive look. There is a natural patina of use, which definitely makes this a driver quality car. However, there are plenty of miles left on this beauty, and you could be the one putting them on.

The Model - Tire smoke is a sensual smell. Some cars make more than others, like the GT500 Super Snake. With 750 HP launches, corner exits are difficult although a smoke show is easy. Yes, the Super Snake sits lower on a polished set of Alcoa rims and yes it has all the body modifications you would expect, but underneath it all you just can not help but to marvel at all that power. All that juice originates from a 5.4 liter V8 topped with a Whipple blower, huffing 16 PSI into the Shelby’s lungs. Engaging the throttle simultaneously delivers neck snapping performance, and a symphony of rpm’s from the ample Ford V-8 and the 4” tipped stainless steel exhaust. Inside the driver is immersed in a retro interior refined in 2010 and reminiscent of the ’64 model with a brushed aluminum accented 6 gauge instrument cluster and aluminum accented air register vents.

The Car - Delivered in Performance White with a black over the top racing stripe, the stance of this Super Snake says it means business. It is adorned from every angle with Shelby badging indicating that this is no ordinary Mustang. Under the hood this car looks as it should registering just over 2,200 miles, spotless. The Kenne Bell supercharger dominates the space in the engine compartment, revealing what is hiding under the bulging track inspired Shelby aluminum hood with accessory hood pins. Styling carries through into the interior where Carroll Shelby’s name is monogramed into the headrest as well as the Super Snake insignia on the matching seats. The leather bucket seats are in excellent condition as would be expected in a low mileage car. A leather wrapped 6-speed shifter in polished white is welcomed in a world of increasing paddle shift operated performance cars, and the center console is further accented with carbon fiber. The Car - Without a doubt, the XK series sports car had made Jaguar a force to be reckoned with. One of the most important advances in automotive safety was the introduction of disc brakes, and the XK-150 was the first production car from Jaguar to be equipped with this race-proven system developed in partnership with Dunlop. While the XK150 was a bit larger than previous XK models, the higher output of the engine combined with improved suspension, meant this newest model was still available for the competition. Upon its racing heritage Jaguar built customer loyalty with the first XK150’s, proudly wearing a medallion on the rear deck proclaiming its victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951, 1953, 1955, 1956 and 1957. Drivers also approved the better visibility with the curved windshield of the XK-150 and occupant comfort, still limited to just two, was at an all time high. The Model - What a splendid example of an XK150 this fixed-head coupe presented. Finished in Olde English White its interior has been completely done in dark red with comfortable leather bucket seats, with the door panels and dashboard finished in perfectly matched similar materials. The Smith’s gauges are clean and clear, with both the speedometer and tachometer prominently displayed in the center pod. It seems to have benefitted from a restoration completed in the 1990’s, and still shows quite well. In fact, the chrome brightwork of this car is stunning with deep reflective qualities. While we did detect a couple of minor blemishes to the finish of the paint, these could easily be remedied, and the average person would miss these issues completely. With all the mechanics and electrics sorted out, this XK150 is just waiting for the next adventure down the road with you behind the steering wheel.

2011 Ferrari 599 GTO Designer: Pininfarina Estimate:

Chassis Number: ZFF70RFL8B0178926 Engine: 5,999 cc 65-degree V-12 engine, Direct Injection/Fuel injection Six-Speed Manual Automated F1 Gearbox Four-Wheel Carbon-Ceramic Brakes Odometer: 84 Actual Miles

The Model - While the 599 GTB replaced the 575 in 2006, it was not until 2010 that news from Maranello came that they would be tuning up the two seat GT car and attaching the iconic GTO designation. The New 599 GTO would largely be based on the prototype track car, the 599XX, and at the time would represent Ferrari’s fastest road rocket to date. While the lines of the GTO are subtle compared to the reigning champ, the Enzo, its performance on the road and track would not only meet but surpass the other V12 Pony. Despite a faster lap time at Fiorano Circuit, a 3.1 second zero to sixty time and a 200 mph plus top speed, the GTOs true achievement was its ability continue to serve as a proper road car.To transform the GTB into what Ferrari called the “most extreme sports car” that it had ever produced, they tweaked and tuned the already stout Tipo F140C V12 until they had fully extracted 661 HP. Carbon ceramic brakes coupled for the first time with Brembo’s new ceramic pads were added to pull back the reigns on the GTO, making stopping power equally as impressive as its ability to jump of the line. To put all of the upgraded mechanicals to good use, the GTO’s contact patch was widened to 285 in the front and it would wear and enormous 315 in the rear. When the First 599 GTO rolled out the door it was truly reminiscent of the GTOs of yesteryear. They had given us a lightning fast, front engine aluminum V12, properly balanced, and acoustically delightful, two seater that even sports the iconic aero aid the “nolder”. Attaching the namesake of classics is often met with trepidation, but the GTO moniker feels quite at home on the 599 GTO. With enough room for golf clubs in the trunk, this is truly the top of the GT market, and perhaps one of the most usable supercars ever produced. W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - Even finished in Rossa Corsa you don’t need to be an expert to tell this is not your typical red Ferrari. The finish is showroom perfect, just the way you would expect a car with 22 miles (show as 36KM) on the ticker to be. The interior is also fresh and scarcely sat in. The fit and finish inside is exquisite with black alcantara trimming the dark red seats. Kept in a collection that befits a car of this caliber, all necessary maintenance has been done making this a road ready ride, but keep in mind this GTO is basically new, and should be considered a perfect snag for anyone speculating on collectible Ferraris. The Model - Shelby’s version of the Mustang for 1967 would mark the high-points of performance for these muscle-machines, and also the departure from the active manufacturing and development of a group of wild ponies that only one man could tame. With the introduction of the big 428 cubic inch engine under the hood, the GT500 was born at just the right time. Pulling out all the stops just before government regulations over emissions and fuel consumption, Shelby coaxed every last horsepower out of that engine. Standard equipment included dual Holley 600cfm carbs, Kelsey-Hayes disc brakes, and the legendary Top-loader full-synchro 4-speed transmission. Despite a stiff price tag for the GT500 compared to the GT350, a total of 2,048 units were produced while the still potent small-block version found just 1,175 orders that season. With “out of the box” quarter mile times of 13.6 seconds, the GT500 was a proven performer from the start. W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - 1967 would mark the last Shelby Mustangs built at those legendary shops in Southern California. This GT500 started life at Ford’s San Jose assembly plant where it went down the assembly painted and trimmed, with a 428 V8 installed backed up by Ford’s famous top-loader 4-speed transmission. Today it is finished in Nightmist Blue, which was the Ford market name for Shelby Dark Blue and is accented with white racing stripes. Riding on a set of original 10-spoke alloy wheels completes the status of pure performance, while the interior is fitted with the trademark black vinyl bucket seats. This street machine is reported to be in excellent mechanical condition and is quite powerful and very presentable. All of the original gauges are in place, however, a Mustang branded modern AM-FM-Cassette unit has been neatly mounted into the original dashboard opening. Mileage: 46,455 Showing

The Model - Debuting on August 29, 1929, Packard’s new Seventh Series featured new sportier styling with sleeker lines and fenders that flowed beautifully into the body defining just what the classic era of automobiles would represent. Packard offered a wide range of custom bodies from independent coach builders, but the vast majority of customers opted for factory models which were well engineered, well-appointed and quiet comfortable. Under the hood were several new features such as an improved cooling system with a redesigned water pump, dual fan belts and the first use of the Detroit Lubricator updraft carburetor. A new low-gear was added to the transmission creating a four-speed, and the Bijur Lubricator was considered standard equipment. By 1930, the popularity of open cars was beginning to fade due to the price of closed cars becoming much more reasonable. Thus larger phaetons, while stately and elegant, were losing their appeal seeing lower production numbers. 178 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

The Car - One of Dietrich’s most beautiful creations, this phaeton is ready to become great again. The engine is reported to be in working condition and retains its original Detroit Lubricator carburetor. Rarely, if ever, did the chassis and engine numbers match at Packard, however both of those numbers are close in sequence which indicates this motor is probably original to this car. Given a cosmetic restoration several decades ago the body appears solid with no major issues, but would benefit from a freshening of the paint and some of the chrome plated surfaces such as the radiator shell. It is still sporting its original headlamps supplied by C. M. Hall with the Depress Beam indicator jewels visible to the driver. The tan canvas top needs minor attention as do the black leather seats. This is one of the grandest classics to ever come out of Detroit and might look better just driving into your garage. 179 W W W. M O T O S T A L G I A . C O M

ot 67 L The Model – The elegant Silver Wraith II evolved as the long wheel base derivative of the Silver Shadow that originated in 1965. Born in response to criticism of the manufacturer’s resistance to innovation, the Silver Shadow and Silver Wraith II introduced power disk brakes and independent rear suspension to the model line. These were the first Rolls-Royce cars to incorporate a monocoque body. The design represented a dramatic styling change for the company as well. Unlike most manufacturers in Great Britain, the domestic market still represented almost half of the sales volume. To this end, the narrow roads drove the design team to produce a car that was smaller than the car it replaced. Despite the smaller exterior dimensions, the adaptation of unitary construction actually increased the available passenger space. The single most innovative feature of the car was the high-pressure hydraulic system licensed from CitroÍn that delivered not only dual-circuit braking but also performed self-levelling of the suspension. Although Rolls-Royce realized an outstanding level of ride comfort with this system, it often proved unreliable in service. Rolls-Royce introduced a long-wheelbase version of the Silver Shadow that was later given its own name, the Silver Wraith II for the 1976 model year as it gained further distinction from the Silver Shadow with the addition of an Everflex-covered roof and a rear opera window.

Preservation Car Retaining Most of Its Original Finish

Spectacular Maintenance and Service History

Ready to Drive With Up To Date Maintenance

The Car – This 1976 Silver Wraith II radiates old-world style. The present owner of this beloved car lavished it with care, ensuring that whatever this car needed, it received. This Wraith comes with service receipts far in excess of its market value and needs nothing today. The owners of this car went to great length to preserve this vehicle. Forty years on, this Silver Wraith retains most of its original paint as well as its complete original interior. The rear suspension has been updated to bypass the unreliable self-levelling system. Further improvements include the sympathetic installation of a GPS system incorporating color matched woodwork as well an automatic lock system and alarm. This car benefits from the improved distributor and revised shift points that came late in the 1976 model year. All original books and tools remain with the car. A file of extensive records dating back to the original owner will convey with the car. The market does not reflect the level of care that this car has received. Simply put, this no-reserve Silver Wraith II represents an incredible amount of car for the last hand in the air Saturday night.

ot 68 L 1930 Packard Eight Series 733 Cabriolet Estimate: $60,000 - $75,000

Untouched for Nearly 50 Years

Desirable Open-Car Model

Considered a “Full Classic” by CCCA

Chassis Number: 303099 Engine: 319 cid “L-head” in-line 8-cyl 2-barrel Detroit Lubricator Carburetor/90 bhp 4-Speed Manual Transmission Four Wheel Mechanical Drum Brakes

The Model - Setting itself apart from the competition, Packard didn’t rely on the changing of the seasons for bringing out new models, their calendar was based on constant improvements and advances in automotive technology, as well as design, when those changes were made, Packard introduced their new models. When the 7th Series was introduced in August 1929, the automotive world took notice. More powerful engines, new styling and additional creature comforts were a part of the upgrades applied. Model numbers were based on the series number and tied closely to the wheelbase, indicating the 733 rode on a 134.5” axle-spread. Among the new features were thermostat controlled radiator shutters, These cars were a sign of success powered by a powerful 8-cylinder engine and lots of style. But then again, Packard was a luxury car that saw 12,531 Model 733’s produced in 10 different body styles with the convertible’s base price of $2.550. The Car - Restored back in the 1960’s, it appears this car was treated to what was at the time, a rather professional treatment. This Packard was placed in storage for nearly a half century, before being rediscovered and brought back to life. There is a patina from the years of being hidden away, however the finish has held up well. It was recently treated to a full mechanical awakening and proving some old Packards never die. It appears to be finished in a light tan with brown accents, a dark brown leather interior plus tan folding top, complete with chrome plated landau bars. The red wire wheels set off this classic Packard, as does the red undersides of the fenders and chassis. According to the original serial plate this car was sold new in Watertown, New York. With a little sleuthing, finding the original owner of this Packard might be half the fun of being the high bidder.

Speedster “Stutz” Recreation

1960’s Build On Original Chassis

An Excellent Parade Car

The Model - During the 1920’s, one of the most respected engines in the American car industry was Buicks “Valve-in-Head” six-cylinder. For 1927, the Standard Six was one of the most popular cars in America seeing over 122,000 units produced in nine basic body styles. Technical advancements that year included new motor mounts, a counter-balanced crankshaft and a torsional balancer that let Buick promote their motors as being “Vibration-less Beyond Belief”. Buick did continue to use mechanical brakes which served all four wheels, but the fuel gauge continued to be mounted directly on the fuel tank. Feeding the gas to the engine was the Marvel T73 carburetor, another improvement for the day. In the early 1960’s, cars from the late 1920’s were relatively common and had not become fully appreciated. Back then, early high-performance speedsters with names like Mercer or Stutz were desirable, but they were expensive even 50+ years ago. The Car - Lost to history is the person whom assembled this interesting speedster. Starting with the Buick Standard Six chassis and running gear, home-built fenders were created that had the look of a Stutz, painted a canary yellow with black trim. High quality wood was used in the construction of the flooring and dashboard, both built by a skilled craftsman who then added a pair of bucket seats and rear-mounted gas tank. About the only part of the original Buick that was utilized were the wheels and hood. It wears vintage drum headlights plus a monocle-style windscreen attached to the steering column. The radiator shell was hand-formed using flat-stock brass and follows the basic contours of the Buick, topped off by a vintage Moto-Meter. This car has sat for many years and appears to be complete down to the Marvel carburetor. This could be a lot of fun for the last hand up.

The Model – Born from one of the infamous regimes the world has ever known, the Volkswagen Beetle rose from the ashes like a Phoenix. It’s fame and influence could be found around the world becoming the most recognizable vehicle wherever roads were to be made. Developed as a “People’s Car”, the literal translation from German, the Beetle would be assembled in over 60 countries. With over 21 million examples produced of the original Beetle design, it is by far the most popular car the world has ever seen. In 1999, it was designated as one of the four most important vehicles ever produced, in company with the Citroen DS, the Mini and Ford’s Model T. Eventually technology moved on and a basic design from the 1930’s came to the end of its road in 2004, with the final “Bugs” coming off the line at VW’s Mexican assembly facility. The Car – One of the most successful Volkswagen dealerships is Dalton Copilco S.A., which started its partnership with VW in 1969. With the news that the final days of the Beetle would soon becoming at the Puebla facility, Copilco approached the factory with a request for the last 200 cars to be special edition. To commemorate the dealers 1969 start-up year, he asked for these last cars to use OEM 1969 platform. Thus was born the 1969 “Copilco edition”. This original example is finished in dark blue and while it may have styling touches from the end of the 1960’s, it used VW’s most advanced technologies of the day including electronic ignition, fuel-injection and modern engine electronics. Well maintained from new, the odometer translates to just under 35,400 miles from new.
