Incubadora BFM / BFM Incubator

El espíritu de la Incubadora BFM es la colaboración. Este espacio nace como un encuentro de coproducción diseñado en torno a una jornada de encuentros uno a uno. Por un lado, participan productores audiovisuales que buscan financiación para hacer realidad sus proyectos de cortometraje. Estos proyectos pueden ser de ficción, documental o animación y pueden estar en diferentes etapas (desarrollo, preproducción, rodaje o postproducción). Del otro, participan empresas y profesionales del sector audiovisual que prestan diferentes servicios cinematográficos, con el objetivo de cerrar posibles alianzas o coproducciones.

Este año, la Incubadora abrió su convocatoria por primera vez a participantes de Iberoamérica, ampliando la posibilidad de encontrar conexiones y posibles encuentros con otros lenguajes cinematográficos. Esto, posibilitando los procesos de internacionalización para la consolidación, financiamiento y posterior circulación de los proyectos presentados. Después de una sólida y fuerte convocatoria se recibieron más de 110 proyectos de países como Argentina, Ecuador, México, Perú, República Dominicana, Uruguay, Venezuela, entre otros. Los proyectos seleccionados de cortometraje se destacaron por su originalidad, pertinencia y solidez, y sus directores y productores ahora se están preparando para aprovechar al máximo los encuentros, en entornos físicos y digitales, que tendrán durante el BFM – BOGOSHORTS Film Market.

Adicionalmente, el Movimiento y Festival BOGOSHORTS, en conjunto con el Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje – SENA, una de las entidades de educación técnica más importantes del continente, se unieron para ofrecer la convocatoria PIENSO LUEGO RUEDO a los estudiantes de la institución, y ofrecerle un espacio dentro de la Incubadora a sus participantes. BOGOSHORTS también consolidó su relación con EUREKA Festival Universitario de Cine al brindar un espacio en este programa a los realizadores ganadores de su quinta Competencia Nacional en 2020. The spirit of the BFM Incubator is collaboration. This space was born as a co-production encounter designed around a day of one-to-one meetings. On the one hand, audiovisual producers who seek financing to make their short film projects come true. These projects can be fiction, documentary or animation and can be in different stages (development, pre-production, shooting or post-production). On the other, companies and professionals from the audiovisual sector that provide different film-related services, participate with the aim of closing possible alliances or co-productions.

This year, the Incubator opened its call for the first time to participants from Ibero-America, expanding the possibility of finding connections and possible encounters with other cinematographic languages. This, enabling the internationalization processes for the consolidation, financing and subsequent circulation of the projects presented. After a solid and strong call, more than 110 projects were received from countries such as Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela, among others. The selected short film projects stood out for their originality, relevance and solidity, and their directors and producers are now preparing to make the most of the meetings, in physical and digital environments, that they will have during the BFM - BOGOSHORTS Film Market.

Additionally, the BOGOSHORTS Movement and Festival, joined with the National Learning Service - SENA, one of the most important technical education entities on the continent, to offer the call I THINK THEREFORE I SHOOT to the students of the institution, for the chance to participate in the Incubator. BOGOSHORTS also consolidated its relationship with EUREKA University Film Festival by providing a space in this program to the filmmakers that won in its fifth National Competition in 2020.

En la calle, el pueblo reclama alborotado por el secuestro de los hijos de las mujeres desplazadas que viven en las afueras. Candelaria verá como los acontecimientos rompen su cotidianidad y al final del día se enfrentará a la decisión de abrir su casa a las mujeres perseguidas, encontrando la liberación del dolor que tanto necesita. Candelaria is a 60 year old widow who lives locked up in her house with her back to the events in her town. Last night the noise of the reconciliation party did not let her sleep and today she spills the little that was left of her milk. In the street, the people protested in an uproar over the kidnapping of the children of displaced women living in the outskirts. Candelaria will see how events break her daily life and at the end of the day she will face the decision to open her house to persecuted women, finding release from the pain she so badly needs.

A las afueras de Bogotá, en una atmósfera montañosa y nublada, Julián, un ciclista aficionado, encuentra un celular en una carretera solitaria, donde descubrirá lo que le pasó a Nicol y así poder ayudar a su madre a dejar de vivir en la incertidumbre. A mother desperately searches for her missing daughter Nicol. On the outskirts of Bogotá, in cloudy moountain atmosphere, Julián, an amateur cyclist, finds a cell phone on a lonely road, where he will discover what happened to Nicol and thus be able to help his mother to stop living in uncertainty.

La teoría de la expansión / The Expansion Theory - (Colombia) Maxi (10) vive con su mamá (Lorena, 36) y se comunica constantemente con su papá (Pedro, 39) a través de la música, Pedro es compositor y ya no vive con ellos, pero el niño usa sus melodías como portal espacial para reunirse con él otra vez. A Lorena le disgusta esta situación. La tierra se está alejando del sol, haciendo que el planeta se desequilibre. Lorena, que es bombera, decide que se deben mudar a un lugar más seguro y le oculta la música a Maxi. El niño trata de detener el tiempo, extraña a su papá, pero un desequilibrio del planeta permitirá la conexión familiar. Maxi (10) lives with his mother (Lorena, 36) and constantly communicates with his father (Pedro, 39) through music, Pedro is a composer and no longer lives with them, but the child uses their melodies as a space portal to meet him again. Lorena dislikes this situation. The earth is moving away from the sun, causing the planet to become unbalanced. The Soldevila family meets on a Saturday morning in the middle of winter at the beach house. Portarretrato, un instante azul / Portrait, a Blue Instant - (Colombia) Esta es la historia de Hugo, un anciano de 76 años que padece Alzheimer en etapa media. Hugo revive el momento de una fotografía de hace 43 años, donde él y Vera, su fallecida esposa, eran jóvenes. Con el propósito de seguir siendo jóvenes, Hugo y Vera recorren el mismo camino cada día: parten de la casa de Vera, recorren el parque, y llegan a la panadería donde se sacan aquella fotografía. En el presente, su hija Dolí (36) recoge a Hugo cada vez que él escapa a la panadería. A pesar de recordarle con anotaciones sobre su enfermedad y la muerte de Vera, Hugo se ancla a un presente que no termina. This is the story of Hugo, a 76-year-old man suffering from mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Hugo relives a moment in a photograph from 43 years ago, where he and his late wife Vera, were young. In order to retain their youth, Hugo and Vera walk the same path every day: they leave Vera’s house, go through the park, and arrive at the bakery where the photo was taken. In the present day, his daughter Dolí (36) picks Hugo up every time he escapes to the bakery. Despite reminding him with notes about his illness and Vera’s death, Hugo is anchored to a present that never ends.

Manolo is a young hooligan fan of the Deportivo Cali soccer club. To the rhythm of trumpets and violence, he’s planning his next trip to the final match of the tournament. Solo oyó decir que le van a abrir la cabeza. Un día antes de la operación, Alex escapa del hospital con ayuda de sus hermanos para cumplir su último deseo; ver aterrizar aviones. Esa noche, después de pasar el día viendo aeronaves, de sorprender a Alex y a su novia desnudos en un carro, y de no saber si volverá a ver a su hermano, Alvarito se despide de Alex en la puerta del hospital, dándose cuenta que su vida no volverá a ser la misma. Alvarito, a 10 year old boy, and the younger of four adolescent brothers, doesn’t quite understand the surgery that his older brother Alex is about to get. He’s only heard that the doctors are going to split his head open. One day before the operation, Alex escapes from the hospital with his siblings, in order to fulfill his last wish; to go plane spotting near the airport. But despite his best efforts to enjoy himself, Alvarito can’t get over the idea of losing his brother.

Sirenas en la niebla / Naiad In The Mist - (Colombia)

En un frío pueblo frente a la laguna de un páramo hay un aviso: 183 Días de Paz. Lleva la cuenta de la última aparición de una sirena que acecha cuando siente el olor de la sangre en el aire para llevarse a los jóvenes. Allí, Mariela y su nieto Amílcar tienen una vida tranquila hasta que en uno de sus viajes de pesca encuentran amortajado entre algas, con la piel brillante y escamada, el cuerpo de un niño. El pueblo asume con miedo que es la sirena y Mariela entiende que regresó la guerra cuando la desaparición de su nieto la enfrenta con una realidad que supera las leyendas de su pueblo. A cold village amidst the Colombian mountains. A sign rests by a lakeshore celebrating the 183 days with no sightings of the naiad that haunts when she smells young blood in the air. Mariela and her grandson Amílcar have a peaceful life on their own until, in one of their fishing trips, they find the body of a child in the water, cloaked in algae. The village choose to think the naiad is back. Mariela knows this means the return of war as his grandson is gone missing, leading her to embark on a quest that will force her to find out a reality that surpasses the legends of her people.

Ambos padres se ven afectados tras la misteriosa desaparición de Miguel y, luego de meses de búsqueda sin resultado, el agobio se vuelve insostenible pues la pareja se desespera sin saber nada del destino de su hijo. This story is told by Samuel Díaz, a man who lived in a small village in Colombia with his wife Esther and their 13-year-old son, Miguel. Both parents are affected by the mysterious disappearance of Miguel and, after months of searching without results, the stress becomes unsustainable as the couple despairs without news of their son’s fate.

Tos / Cough - (Brasil) A principios de la década de 2000, en una ciudad rural de Argentina, tres preadolescentes se pasan las tardes robando accesorios de neumáticos y fumando cigarrillos. Descubrimos que Jorge y Matías están enamorados. Pero los dos ocultan este sentimiento con provocaciones y desafíos. En una de estas situaciones, deciden meterse esa noche el club de natación al que pertenecía Jorge. Adentro, se dividen, y Matías se ahoga. Sin embargo, lo que se suponía que era un accidente se convierte en la oportunidad de Matías para confesar su amor, y de Jorge para aceptarlo. In the early 2000s, in a rural city in Argentina, three tweens spend their afternoons stealing tire accessories and smoking cigarettes. We discover that Jorge and Matías are in love. But the two hide this feeling with provocations and challenges. In one of these situations, they decide to join the swimming club that Jorge belonged to that night. Inside, they divide, and Matías drowns. However, what was supposed to be an accident becomes Matías’ opportunity to confess his love, and Jorge to accept it.

Laura tiene pocos recuerdos de la vida de su madre, Ofelia, quien falleció cuando ella tenía 5 años. Los años de vida de Ofelia y los meses previos a su muerte parecen estar ocultos, ya que aparentemente ningún miembro de la familia sabe lo que pasó. Laura regresa a la casa de más de cinco décadas donde nació y creció su madre, donde se reencuentra con su abuela Judith y su tía Deifa. Diferentes recuerdos e historias que rodean a Ofelia cobran vida y, a pesar de la diferencia en las memorias compartidas y el confuso paso del tiempo, las tres encuentran refugio en la casa que cobija su pasado. Laura has few memories of the life and death of her mother, Ofelia, who passed away when she was only 5 years old. Ofelia’s living years and the months before her death seem hidden, as apparently no member of the family knows what happened. Laura returns to the more than five decades old house where her mother was born and raised, where she reunites with her grandmother Judith and her aunt Deifa. Different memories and stories surrounding Ofelia are brought to life, and despite disparities and the blurring effect of time, the three find confort and refuge in the house that shelters their past.

Dalila - (Colombia) Dalila’ es la historia de una mujer de 65 años que sobrevivió a la catástrofe de Armero (1985), donde perdió a su esposo y a dos de sus hijas. Durante años ha mantenido la esperanza de encontrar a sus niñas, sobre todo porque descubrió una foto en un periódico donde vio a una de ellas. A pesar de la escasez de pruebas, Dalila no para su búsqueda. La herida de una madre que pierde a sus hijas nunca se cierra y la fe la mantiene en pie. La foto suscita dudas aún sin respuestas e invita a un viaje en el tiempo que desencadenará reflexiones sobre la memoria, el dolor de una madre y la resiliencia. Dalila’ is the story of a 65-year-old woman who survided Armero’s catastrophe (1985), where she lost her husband and two of her daughters. For years, she hoped to find her girls, mainly because she found a photo in a newspaper where she saw the image of one of them. Despite the paucity of evidence, Dalila doesn’t stop her fight and quest. The wound of a mother who loses her daughters never heals and faith keeps her on track. The photograph raises unanswered questions and invites us to a journey through time that will trigger reflections in relation to memory, a mother’s pain, and resilience.

En un año en que la pandemia cambió las realidades de todo el mundo, su sueño se resquebraja. Los representantes que lo trajeron, desaparecen y la comodidad del hotel al que llegaron, se convierte en un cuarto compartido en una pensión. Las oportunidades en el fútbol no terminan de concretarse. La casualidad hace que comparta cuarto con un ex jugador que defendió la celeste, la camiseta de Peñarol y la del América de Cali, entre otras. El sueño de ser futbolista nace y termina en la misma pieza. Felipe is a Colombian football player who arrived in Uruguay for play in 2nd division. Covid-19 pandemic changed everything and so his dream. His agent disappered, the comfortable hotel room in which he arrived become a shared one in a creepy boarding house. Soccer opportunities are not becoming true. By chance, he shares his room with an ex soccer player who succeed with Uruguay’s national team, Peñarol and even América de Cali and other teams. The soccer player dream starts and ends in the same room.

Mauro y Luis, un par de hermanastros adolescentes, sueñan con ser boxeadores profesionales. Mauro and Luis, a pair of brothers born in Cartagena, have always dreamed of becoming professional boxers. Since they were children, they grew up in dysfunctional homes competing for the affection of a father. Now they face pressure to join the gang on the block, a new family. Overcoming adversities outside the ring is only possible if they manage to join forces as brothers to win the most relevant combat: surviving life itself.

La violencia, la represión a los movimientos sociales y la falta de atención a los temas de fondo como la vida digna, el trabajo y la educación en Colombia, han llevado a estas mujeres a luchar por un trato digno, por un contrato escrito, por un salario justo. Esta es la historia de Yenny y SINTRASEDOM. Amidst Colombia’s national context, far from the demands of the war they’re victims of, from the traditional union that doesn’t shelter them, and from the feminist movements that don’t represent them, a group of domestic service female workers organize to fight for their rights, and not to be recognized as ‘maids’, ‘servants’ or ‘girls’, but as women; citizens with rights. Violence, the repression of social movements, and the lack of attention to issues such as a dignified life, work, and education in Colombia have led these women to fight for their dignity, a written contract, and a fair salary. Rented Washing Machines’ is a documentary that analyzes and discovers the lives of eight families located on the outskirts of the city of Bogotá, Potosí neighborhood; families united around a single rite, the cleaning of clothes, framed in the visit of Don Lucho, the only person who rents and fixes washing machines in the neighborhood.

Carlitos - (Colombia)

Esta es la historia de Carlitos, un niño huérfano de 10 años que sobrevive como reciclador en el municipio de Villeta. En su rutina de trabajo, encuentra un reloj de pulso poco usual, el cual habla y le dice que debe convertirse en superhéroe para combatir a un monstruo llamado Tocxslim. El niño libra una batalla contra todos los monstruos climáticos, devastándolos y eliminándolos del mundo. Carlitos pierde la vida en la batalla, y aún así las personas siguen devastando la naturaleza. Llegan nuevos monstruos que destruyen el mundo, y vemos el reloj de Carlitos roto en un mundo desértico lleno esqueletos humanos. This is the story of Carlitos, a 10-year-old orphan boy who survives as a recycler in Villeta, Colombia. In his everyday work, he finds an unusual watch that speaks and tells him that he must become a superhero to fight the monster Tocxslim. The child fights a battle against the climate monsters, defeating and eliminating them from the world. Carlitos loses his life in the battle, and people still continue to devastate nature, new monsters arrive and destroy the world, and we see Carlitos’ watch broken in a deserted world full of human skeletons.

Dos jóvenes mujeres migrantes mueren en oscuras circunstancias que involucran a cuerpos represivos del estado chileno. Desde la muerte, Joanne y Beatriz nos hablan de su decisión de migrar, de sus esperanzas y su maternidad, pero también de cómo el país al que llegaron se convirtió en un cuadrilátero que las arrinconó y amenazó hasta asesinarlas. ‘2 menos’ explora el última año de vida de Joanne Florvil y Beatriz Díaz Agüero, dos mujeres que migraron a Chile en épocas y desde países diferentes: Beatriz en 1973, desde Argentina, y Joanne en 2016, desde Haití. Two young migrant women die in obscure circumstances involving repressive bodies from the Chilean government. Talking from beyond, Joanne and Beatriz will tell us about their decision to migrate, their hopes, and their motherhood dreams. But also about how the country they arrived transformed into a boxing ring that cornered and threatened them until murdering them. ‘2 Less’ explores the last year of life of Joanne Florvil and Beatriz Díaz Agüero, two women who migrated to Chile at different times and from different countries: Beatriz in 1973, from Argentina, and Joanne in 2016, from Haiti.

Luego de observar detenidamente una porcelana decorativa en su casa y conversar con sus padres adoptivos, despierta un interés en conocer su verdadero origen. Esto la lleva a un viaje de autoconocimiento en el cual recibe una respuesta inesperada. In 2000, Rebeca is a 20-year-old woman who is the adopted daughter of a couple from Bogotá. After staring at a porcelain object in her house, and talking to her adoptive parents, she becomes interested in her true origins. This takes her on a journey of self-awareness in which she finds an unexpected answer.

Isla Vieja / Old Island - (Colombia)

Lumbila (8) vive en un pueblo costero en el que cantar significa la muerte a manos de un malvado Glitch. Los pobladores no saben qué hacer con los cadáveres de sus seres queridos y es Ilombo (90) quien se encarga de dar paz a los muertos, llevándolos a la isla en la que ella vive. Lumbila es atacada por un mortal insecto y su madre entona una canción para salvarla, dejando la vida en ello. Lumbila espera que Ilombo lleve el cuerpo de su madre, pero no sucede. Lumbila (8) lives in a coastal town where singing means death at the hands of an evil Glitch. The villagers don’t know what to do with the bodies of their loved ones and it’s Ilombo (90) who is in charge of giving peace to the dead, taking them to the island where she lives. Lumbila is attacked by a deadly insect and her mother sings a song to save her, leaving her life in it. Lumbila hopes that Ilombo will take her mother’s body, but it doesn’t happen.

En una cabaña emplazada en la cima de un acantilado rocoso vive una niña mapuche con su comunidad o Lof. El pasatiempo de la niña es recolectar caracoles y mariscos cantando antiguas melodías junto al rumor del mar. Un día, bordeando el acantilado, encuentra un camino de llamativas piedras que la guían a un lado desconocido de la playa. Allí el mar le entrega una piedra mágica que los conecta fuertemente. Convertida en su amuleto, llevará a la niña a las profundidades donde encontrará un ser que la transformará. In a cabin located on the top of a rocky cliff lives a Mapuche girl with her community o Lof. The girl’s hobby is collecting snails and shellfish whilst singing old tunes to the sound of the sea. One day, skirting the cliff, she finds a path of striking stones that guide her to an unknown side of the beach. There the sea gives her a magic stone that strongly connects them. Turned into her amulet, it will take the girl to the depths of the sea where she will find a being that will transform her.

En una ciudad distópica de los años 50 (retrofuturista) K47, un humanoide vive en una de las tantas maquilas electrónicas, junto a otros humanoides que trabajan sin descanso. Se han implantado lentes en los que ven imágenes que los atemorizan, imágenes que se crean a partir de los murmullos sistemáticos de los “vigilantes” que los adoctrinan. Hay una célula guerrillera, formada por humanoides desertores que utilizan artefactos sonoros como armas que ellos mismos construyen para intentar romper este sistema de murmullos y liberar a los demás. In a dystopian city of the 50s (retrofuturist) K47, a humanoid lives in one of the many electronic maquilas, along with other humanoids who work tirelessly. They have implanted lenses in which they see images that terrify them, images that are created from the systematic murmurs of the “vigilantes” who keep them indoctrinated. There is a guerrilla cell, made up of deserter humanoids that use sound artifacts as weapons that they build themselves to try to break this system of murmurs and free the others.

Ocaso / Sunset - (Colombia)

Nora, una mujer de sesenta y tres años, crea dos muñecos (réplicas jóvenes de sí misma y su difunto esposo) para revivir sus recuerdos más preciados y combatir el olvido causado por la vejez. Así inicia este viaje al interior de la psique de Nora, donde la muñeca debe buscar a su esposo en medio de una ciudad oscura y desolada; allí habita un monstruo gigante que poco a poco devora el lugar. La mente de Nora es frágil, sus recuerdos se van deteriorando y su memoria, al igual que la muñeca, se verán enfrentadas a la voracidad del monstruo del olvido. Nora, a sixty-three-year-old woman, creates two puppets (young copies of herself and her dead husband) to live again her beloved memories and combat the forgetfulness caused by old age. Thus begins the journey to the interior of Nora’s psyche, where the doll must look for her husband in the middle of a dark and desolate city; where lives a giant monster that little by little eats the place. Nora’s mind is fragile, her memories are fading and her memory, and the doll, will be faced with the voracity of the monster of oblivion.

Su miedo la llevará a encontrar la clave para lograr el equilibrio con la naturaleza y traer el futuro a su familia. Yasén is a potters’ village where everyone is made of red clay. It faces difficult times after the giants, who used to protect them from water and rain, fled. Zianya is a young, introverted potter who must overcome her own fears in order to save her sister from the same illness that killed their parents. Her fear will lead her to find the key that will bring balance to nature and the future to her family.
