Message from the Department: As yet another year draws to a close, we can’t help but reflect on the changes we have experienced, in the last two years in particular, and look forward to the new challenges we have ahead. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world and Wentzville was no exception. We grew together and found new ways to adapt and connect with our community. Like many, at the end of 2020, we were ready to welcome a new year because we had new and exciting things to look forward to. Although COVID-19 did not disappear, 2021 brought new opportunities to bring the Wentzville community together in ways where people were comfortable participating again. We found a new way to offer our annual Egg Hunt so people could participate with friends and family in their “bubble.” As summer approached, we welcomed back Wentzville Days and Liberty Fest which had been canceled in 2020. We were thrilled to see our residents return to these larger events. We also faced staffing challenges that would limit our ability to fully open our aquatic facilities. When we called for help, our community answered in full force. It is thanks to our Wentzville residents that we found the staff we needed to open both pools in 2021. As we look forward to 2022, we have even more changes on the horizon and are proud to have a community like Wentzville behind us. We broke ground on the Wentzville Rec Center (WREC) in 2021 and look forward to the day we will finally be able to open the doors to the public in 2022. We are just as excited as you are to see the building completed and our residents enjoying a dip in the pool, painting in an art program or working up a sweat in the gym. Although we do not have a completion date for the WREC yet, we know it is drawing nearer! We will continue to work diligently behind the scenes and share details as they become available. We encourage everyone to follow all of our communications to get the latest updates. In addition to Fun Times, we also have a Department eNewsletter, Facebook page, Twitter profile, our Department website and even our new Department Instagram account. There are still more challenges ahead but we know we will overcome them with our community’s help.

Rec Premier Soccer (Ages 6-14)
This program partners with the City of O'Fallon in developing a more competitive soccer playing experience, along with the services of CORE Soccer Training Director, Jamie Swanner, and his qualified staff. Our Rec Premier Soccer program is based on true small 4v4 gameplay with technical development along with the tactical awareness needed for the individual player. We will train on a specific skill each week for the first 15 minutes, then divide up for a two 20-minute-half 4v4 game. Week one, we will introduce the 4v4 format as well as train. Weeks two through seven we will follow a progressive skillenhancement program, then gameplay. We recommend players stay on their existing recreational league teams and utilize this league as a player-enhancement program. Player groupings may be mixed depending on skill level and gender. Each player will receive two jerseys and a sack pack in addition to training and gameplay. The location will alternate weeks between Heartland Park in Wentzville and Dames Park in O'Fallon.
