Completely improvised, I created a pattern from triangles and developed it with a gradient. I wanted to experiment with patterns as it is not something I have really done before. I felt the sharpness of the triangles represented the strong sound of the music genre.
I then developed this further with a gradient background.
i wanted the imagery to also represent the loud vibrations of the hard dance music, so experimented with a circle spiral effect. I was quite happy with the outcome.
Bringing colour into the designs, I created two gradient variations which I felt best portrayed the darkness of the music but kept the artwork vibrant.
Again, completely improvised I incorporated some transparent cube shapes to look like they were bouncing from the vibrations.
To add more of an impact I incorporated a cracked texture which I found really brought the work to life, even if it was very subtle.
I had been supplied with the Furr logo which needed to be incorporated into the artwork, so developed a way to this to work without being the main focal point.
Will decided he wanted me to use the red gradient.
I then developed the main text for the artwork. I wanted this to be bold and impactful, so used Helvetica Neue Bold as I knew I could make it work well. I brought the tracking down to emphasize the volume of how it would be read. i then experimented with where I could place the track name.
Final Structure.
I then experimented with text colour which would work well as a contrast from the background image.
I felt white had the most impact.
I sent Will the original vector files so he could edit them if he wished. For some reason he decided to use black for the artist name - I wasn’t sure if this worked as strong. Here is the work in use.
Will also had another release, and as he really liked what I had produced asked me to use the same template to develop another artwork piece. I used dark greys and black for this to emphasize the idea of a ‘blackout’.
