Initial thoughts were that the black stripes made the pattern very intense and I didnt really feel this would help with the aesthetic I was intending to bring across. I decided to tone the pattern down by using the darker orange colour. I felt this worked so much better and it was also still recognizable as tiger print.

I really wanted to give the boxes a really natural and organic feel, so I decided to experiment with using natural textures within the designs. I downloaded a texture which I thought could work well, and played around with the blending options on top of my original pattern.

Very conveniently, this worked extremely well and was exactly the aesthetic I was going for. I decided that all my animal patterns would be done in the same way using the same texture so that there is consistancy throughout.

Using the chosen primary colour for the bear, I applied the texture to this. I felt as a bears fur texure/pattern is quite consitent there was no need to make it any more complicated.

I then did exactly the same for the elephant.

Thinking about how the hedgehog would work, I acknowledged that we can really create their intense ‘spikeyness’ within the 3D models, so thought I could try create this effect within the pattern. Using an additional chosen colour, I illustrated the spikes. I felt this worked quite well.
