LJ Hooker Kardinya boss bags another medal NEWS

LJ HOOKER KARDINYA principal Ryan Thompson won a silver medal at this year’s LJ Hooker International Real Estate Awards and has his sights set firmly on a gold in 2010. Only 21 silver medallions were presented to a select few agents in the entire LJ Hooker network. They were awarded to those agents who reach exceptional commission and sales targets in a 12-month period. The award winners were announced at the Crystal Globe Awards as a part of the 2009 LJ Hooker International Business Conference at Sheraton Mirage Resort and Spa on the Gold Coast. Mr Thompson said the recognition was very humbling after experiencing an “interesting and sometimes challenging” year in the industry.

Sculptor commissioned by Stockland to make a statement SCULPTURES by local awardwinning Western Australian sculptor Tim Macfarlane Reid are set to become the foyer centrepieces in Stockland’s flagship Islands apartment building in South Beach. The Fremantle-based artist

has been commissioned by the property group to create sculptures that will be installed when the first residents move in to the apartments later this year. Stockland WA general manager Graham McArthur said is was exciting to have such a

well-known local artist involved in the project. Macfarlane Reid said the unique beachfront location would feature prominently in the sculpture design. He said he enjoyed the challenge of making site-specific works and

discovering how the site’s themes evolved into a sculpture to complement the environment. The sculptures will be positioned within the doublestorey glass foyer of the Islands buildings. ■

REIWA’s Kevin Sullivan Award is the highest honour that can be bestowed by the institute and recognises a particularly outstanding contribution by an individual to the real estate profession over an extended period. Mr Druitt said Mr Goddard had given thousands of hours to REIWA and the profession since first becoming involved in real estate in the 1970s. He has been involved with community service organisations including Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce, Neighbourhood Watch and Safer WA over an
