Thoughts on Mock Up Book Last class, my peers was able to check the progress of each of the students in the class to see how progress that they have made in completing their personal photobooks. In this write up, since I missed the opportunity to get feedback from my peers, I am mostly focusing on Pui and Colby’s feedback. From there I will I brainstorm and figure out the next steps for completing my photobook. After Pui had taken a look at my photobook she seemed to like the images and the layout of the spreads that I have in my 7 in by 5 in handmade book. My initial idea layout for the spread was text on the bottom left and image on the right. This creates a simple and organized however passive vibes to the photobook .I do plan on having variations of the photograph orientations. Pui and Colby posed a good question about the type of paper that I would use to print my images. I do of course know that I will not be cutting and pasting my images into my photobook. I would actually like if my images were printed on good type of paper. The question is which paper would be better to use. There were three options that I had in mind: regular bond paper used for printmaking or book making, printer paper, or resume paper. Pui and Colby also commented on the size of my book. They both said that they liked the 7 in by 5 in is a good size and they both approve. I was thinking of going larger but I had to keep in mind my budget and challenges that I will face when it comes to printing the pages of my photobook. Both were pleased of the overall construction of my handmade book. The color of

MMLSC the black book cloth seemed like a good choice to use because it was elegant and a neutral color compared to bright crimson red. The most important one is to come up with a concept or purpose for my photobook other than taking photographs with a black and white film camera. The only solution to this problem would be to go back to DC and shoot at various locations. Before making the trip, I have to make sure that I have a clear or ideal sense of what I want in my photographs for example people walking, animals, architecture, nature? There are so many options. I only had a limited number of film exposures I could use so I had to be mindful of what images I took. While at the same time I was thinking of taking pictures of everything that I saw in DC and used the camera as a means of recording my journey that day. The second problem that I have to consider is the layout of the spreads. Overall, I am attached to the idea of having the text on left hand side and the image on the right. I will be open to various designs for the photographs but generally that is how I would like my spreads in my photobook laid out just like Waching the Sacremento Kings by Versa Pavlovic. The last issue that I had to figure out was weather or not I would like my photographs to be in black or white or color. Since I am using a 35 mm film camera, it would be smarter to have all the images in black and white.
