Expectations for gaining points:
It would be awesome to gain 200,000 points in one month, but for most people this won’t be the case. It may take 2 months to 2 years to accumulate enough points for your desired trip. For example, if you want a quick 3 or 4 night vacation at category 3 or potentially 4 hotels, then it may take between 3-6 months to completely pay for your trip with points. Paying for a quick trip to Los Angeles, Ca for 3 nights in a category 4 hotel may take about 6 months. If you consistently use your card when received for 6 months, you should be able to pay for hotel and flight. Now if you are planning on staying at the Ritz-Carlton in Los Angeles, then it will take about a year to accumulate enough points. Keep in mind you must consider the months you are booking your vacation. Obviously peak season will cost more money and require more points. Peak seasons are during different times of the year for various locations. Further explained, peak season is the popular time when there is an influx of tourists to a location. You may have an opportunity to stay at your desired location during the off season. Be patient and prepare in advance as much as possible.
