By E l i j a h M u h a m m a d Messenger of Allah STANDING TOGETHER creates strength, but division causes weakness and weakness invites attack. Ignorance and fear keep the so-called Negro (Lost-Found Member of the Aboriginal Black Nation) divided. THE IGNORANCE of the knowledge of self and kind and the knowledge of other than self and kind has produced the present weak leadership, namely, the Black preachers of the white man's Christianity.

Dedicated to Freedom, Justice and Equality for the so-called Negro. The Earth Belongs to Allah

VOL. 6—No. 12

THE SLAVE-MASTERS were the makers of the Black preachers. During the time of servitude slavery, the slave-masters taught them to preach in order that they keep the so-called Negro a slave to the white man, physically and spiritually. THEREFORE, TODAY, I do think hard of the poor Black preachers' past ignorance and division against his own people in favor of his master who is the enemy of all the Black people on the face of the earth—by nature. I do not charge the white man with that which, by nature, he is made to do. But, I do blame the Black

preachers, if, having knowledge, they bow to that which is an enemy of God and the righteous. The white man offers that which will destroy me and my brothers. THE BLACK preachers have been listening to this truth of white America and her enslavement of the LostFound Members of the Aboriginal Black Nation, for 35 years. So, there is no excuse for the Black preachers preaching such a doctrine as the w h i t e man's Christianity. THE BLACK preachers, politicians a n d educators, see the rising of the black,

brown and yellow people on the face of the earth today. They are pulling the nails out of the hands and the feet — the nails which held them to the cross of Christianity — which made them subject Nations to white Europe and America. They are freeing themselves. T h i s should make the American so-called Negroes and their leaders (Black preachers, politicians and educators) think sanely in the way of self. They should stand together and oppose being shackled to the same stake (slave-masters' children) to (Continued

Report Why 'Dollar Colonialism' Endangers African Freedom By Charles P. Howard (UN and Foreign Correspondent) UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. —As one looks at the political situation In Africa, one wonders what has happened to the cause of freedom and independence on that continent. Beginning with 1957, the independence cause moved forward in leaps and bounds. Britain seemed to move forward in the plan to grant independence "as soon as the African country was r e a d y . " She had already demonstrated this in Asia. BY JANUARY, 1962, 29 African countries had received their so - called independence. T h i s does not include Ethiopia, Liberia and the United Arab Republic, which had become independent e a r l i e r . Howard Francedivided French West Africa and French Equatorial Africa into 15 independent African states. They received their independence during 1960 — and almost simultaneously they came into the United Nations. T r a d i t i o n a l colonialism seemed dead and Africa appeared to be on the march to complete independence, certainly i n the British and French areas. However, Portugal hung on to Angola and Mozambique, and S o u t h Africa still remained outside the fold. So rapidly was the cause of freedom moving in Africa that the then British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan made his famous "Wind of Change" speech in the South African Parliament on February 3, 1960. MATURE African statesmen recognized the synthetic independence that had thus far been granted. Of all the F r e n c h African heads of states, President Toure alone chose real independence and refused to go along as an appendage to France, and President Nkrumah of Ghana, on the date of Ghana's independence said: "The independence of Ghana is inconsequential unless it is tied up with the freedom of all of Africa." By 1963, African countries began to see the weakness of their alleged independence* and m o v e d toward creating unification machinery and set up the Organization of African Unity (OAU). The great weakness of African independence was that

although African countries had black presidents, black parliaments, and other trimmings of independence, they never really were independent because the control of their natural resources and their economy remained in the hands of foreign colonial powers. AS FAR AS the French states were concerned, their national budgets were drawn in France and France f i nanced the deficits. Those European forces opposed to African independence viewed the independ(Continued

BURUNDI, tiny, landlocked nation (arrow), bordering on the Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania, is the scene of constant, Belgium-inspired tribal conflicts.

Belgium Still Runs Burundi Despite Coup NAIROBI, Kenya — The Burundi army's overthrow of its 19-year-old king, Ntare V, was seen by free African leaders as no indication of future improvements in the dire plight of the tiny nation's oppressed people. BELGIAN-INSPIRED conflicts between the Bahutus and the Watusis continue to plague efforts of black leaders to b r i n g about unity among the citizens. Premier Michel Micombero installed the military in all key positions in the Government, after deposing the king, who had deposed his father, Mwambutsa IV, on Sept. 1. Both Burundi and the adjoining republic of Rwanda, which made up the single territory of Ruanda-Urundi before they became theoretically independent in 1962, were under German and Belgian occupation. BELGIUM however, still maintains a strangle hold on the tiny nations' mineral and agricultural wealth.

Some are held prisoner by American troops as Viet Cong suspects. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to escalate its genocidal w a r against the people of Viet Nam.

WASHINGTON — America's unrelenting quest for an even more lop - sided ratio of Negro cannon-fodder to feed into the Viet Nam slaughter mill has spurred the Pentagon to make a third revision in draft standards this year. PROMINENT jurists, educators and social scientists throughout the country protest the basic illegality of the Viet Nam War, pointing out that the genocidal conflict is being conducted on the "backs of America's black youths." One prominent New York attorney recently pointed out that under existing National Defense regulations the 1-Y classification can only be changed to active draft status in times of war or during a Congressionally - declared National Emergency. T h u s far, 1-Y's have been converted into combat soldiers without either. A group of Midwest jurists are preparing a challenge of the right of the draft board to so increase its cannon fodder without resort to either a National Emergency declared by Congress, or a war declaration, which President Johnson " refuses to make. NOW THE Pentagon is lowering its mental requirements to induct an even higher ratio of black youths. E d u c a t o r s have long known that inadequate schooling provided Negroes throughout America's black ghettos and in segregated rural schools, has rendered Negroes far less equipped to pass the so - called mental standards for induction

Barbados Is Made Free BRIDGETOWN, Barbados — After 361 years of oppressive British rule, Barbados, easternmost of the West Indies Islands, has become independent. THE NEW nation is the western hemisphere's smallest, with an area of 166 square miles. The population is 245,000. With about 1,500 persons to the square mile, it replaces Haiti as the most densely populated nation in the hemisphere. Prime Minister Errol Warner, 46 years old, received the c o n s t i t u t i o n a l instruments of independence from the Duke of Kent, representing the British crown. Barrow's Democratic Labor party has been in power here since 1961. Sugar and rum are the props of the island's economy. Many tourists come to see the nation's white sand beaches and verdant countryside. U N E M P L O Y M E N T and overcrowding are two of the new nation's major problems. Barbadians, about 90 per cent of whom are of African descent, are known in the Carribean for the stately pace of their lives. ment announced another lowering of mental standards for inductees and said more registrants currently classified 1-Y will be rescreened when administrative procedures are worked out. ALTHOUGH BLACK people constitute only some 11 per cent of America's population, even the defense department admit Negro casualties in Viet Nam are between 25 and 35 per cent. The most recent changes involve high school graduates and nongraduates who receive scores of 10 to 30 out of a possible 100. Ten is considered about the equivalent of a fifth grade education. Youths scoring 10 to 15 on the armed forces qualification test will be forced to serve or go to prison. SAN JUAN • . UE ER RT TO O * PU BICO

"Whitey, ever since World War I I , has been trying to hold colored people down," Jones observed. He has been trying to keep them in check so that their new-found muscles will not be used to tear down his carefully-structured world control. "The Vietnamese war is just the latest dupe of colred people they've had to bust. Since 1945, they've been in constant, constant tangles with colored people — Arabs, A f r i c a n s , Asians, Latin Americans."

The gigantic Houston Astrodome has been selected as the site of the next world heavyweight championship title fight, it was announced h e r e by Herbert Muhammad, manager of champion Muhammad Ali. THE ASTRODOME won the right to stage Muhammad Ali's eighth title defense after beating out a host of other cities which were vying for the prized contest. The fight brings together W o r l d Boxing Association (WBA) champion Ernie Terrell and the young Muslim champion of the w o r 1 d on February 6 in a bout which, one and for all, will clear up the heavyweight championship picture in America. The Astrodome, w h e r e Muhammad A l i slaughtered the hopes of Cleveland "Big Cat" Williams to ascend the throne, has extended itself in hospitality and services to win over such cities as Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington, Chicago, Louisville and Las Vegas, bringing the celebrated match to Texas with all its attendant auxiliary benefits. Attendance at the Muhammad - Williams f i g h t had broken indoor records and the forthcoming long-awaited tangle with Terrell is expected to outstrip even that. Muhammad's acceptance of Terrell as the logical challenger again underscores the champion's pledge to seek out the best contenders in all nations and to avoid none. MEANWHILE, Herbert Muhammad declared that, following the settling of the complications surrounding the site selection, Muhammad Ali will accept an invitation for an exhibition bout in H a w a i i on December 16, marking the first time in history a world heavyweight champion has accorded that island state the opportunity to see first-class pugilism in action. "The champion is in excellent physical and m e n t a l condition—and we intend to keep him that way throughout his career," Manager Muhammad reported. " A c t u a l l y , Muhammad Ali's training for the Terrell fight will not begin officially until after the first of the year. He will follow t h e same training procedure we have found successful before —with the exception of even more c a r e f u l concentration," he said.

TYPICAL OF the champion's recent tours was a recent Atlanta luncheon where talks over the possibility of a future A t l a n t a contest were held. On hand were many of the city's most outstanding leaders including Fulton County commissioners and members of the Atlanta Stadium authorities. Among the most prominent figures at the luncheon was multi-millionaire owner of the Atlanta Falcons football t e a m and majority stockholder of one of the nation's l a r g e s t insurance companies Rankin Smith — who took special interest in the possibility of a fight promotion. With Smith were his toplevel assistants Waymon Wright, an associate public relations director, Bud Erichson, d i r e c t o r , and Frank Wall, financial administrator. OTHER GUESTS included Bill Lucus, of the Atlanta Braves Baseball club; Mrs. Anne Moses, executive secretary to A t l a n t a Mayor Ivan Allen; Dr. Benjamin Mays, president of Morehouse University; Dr. Vivian Henderson, president of Clark College.

Importance

for Ignoring By Abdul Basit Naeem I am writing this week's column in response to a letter I recently received from a Muslim brother in Pensacola, Fla. The letter suggested that I comment in this s p a c e on a memorandum sent to the brother— a member of the "Nation of Islam" in America, headed by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad—by a "representative of another, different Muslim movement" living in Pittsburgh, Penn.

By Elijah Muhammad Messenger of Allah The Devil's Opposition to Man (Black Man) and the Devil's Insinuations. Chapter 7, 3rd Verse: Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and follow not beside Him any guardians. Little do you mind. 7:4 And how many a town have We destroyed? For Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday7:5 Yet their cry when Our punishment came to them was nothing but that they said: surely we are wrong doers. 7:6 Then certainly We shall question those to whom Messengers were sent and We shall question the Messengers. 7:7 Then surely We shall relate to them with knowledge and We are never absent. 7:8 And the judgment on that day will be just. So as for those whose good deeds are heavy, they will be successful. Chapter 7, 26th Verse: O children of Adam we have sent down to you clothing to cover your shame, and clothing for beauty, and clothing that guards against evil. That is the best. This is the Message of Allah that they may be mindful. This is referring to the white race, after they stripped off their clothes and were naked in the caves and hillsides of Europe to remind them today that they were given clothes to cover their body and shame, and then He clothed them with beauty, the clothing that guards against evil. That is the Law and guidance of God that He gave to them through Moses and the Supreme Wisdom of how to protect themselves against mockery of civilizations — it was Supreme for their time. Now with knowledge of decency and intelligence they have turned to the practice of going nude, partly nude, and acting indecent in order to tempt the world of Black Man to break the Law of decency and intelligence that their fathers were taught not to break.

THE memorandum, which he had forwarded to me and which I have since carefully studied, questions certain salient features of the U.S. Musl i m leader's teachings and philosophy. Although I am forever eager to do Naeem my duty in defending the cause of Islam ; in America, I regret to injform my brother in Florida that I shall not answer the memorandum under reference. I will, of course, ex-

This is to lead Black men and Black women astray rom the respect of God (Allah) and decent society of man, so they will find a place of divine chastisement and doom along with them (the white race). In the following verse (27) Allah still warns them, and he Black people here are mentioned. Chapter 7, 27th Verse: O children of Adam let not the devil seduce you as he expelled your parents from the garden, pulling off from their clothing that he might show them their shame. He surely sees you. He as well as his host from which you see them not. Surely He made the Devil's to be the friends of those who believe not. Those who believe not is referring to the American so-called Negro (Black Man). The devil becomes their friends and guardians and they adopt indecency and the devil's way of civilization, and thus become the enemy of God and their Nation of righteousness (Black Nation). And therefore, their doom is that of the devil's (white man).

plain the basis of my decision in this matter. First of all, I do not wish to publicly comment on a document issued by another Muslim group because so doing might perchance give rise to a speculation (especially among our non-Muslim friends) that we, the Muslims, have nothing better to do than to engage in unnecessary controversies or debate with one another. SURELY, I N theory, our beliefs and dogmas constitute an important part of our faith. I t is nevertheless, in the final analysis, our ACTIONS—how we lead our daily life and conduct ourselves in normal, everyday affairs—that distinguish us as "Allah's (righteous) people" and make us the true adherents of Islam. Indulgence in arguments or discussion of issues that bear little or no relevance to our individual d a y-to-day existence as Muslims must therefore be deemed an extravagance and hence avoided. Second, I happen to know a great deal about the Muslim organization which issued the said memorandum. It is not an orthodox ("Sunni") group—in which case

its critique would certainly call for due and proper attention from this writer— and numerically it comprises but an insignificant fraction of the vast worldwide Islamic populace. AS A MATTER of fact, the movement, which originated in India during the British rule 80 or 90 years ago and was the recipient of considerable overt British (European) s u p p o r t during its initial s t a g e s of development, commands little esteem, if any, in the eyes of Islamdom's top political, religious and cultural leaders. Its appraisal of the American M u s l i m movement or any aspects of its leader's doctrine must therefore be held ineffectual and inconsequential—and consequently undeserving of serious t r e a t m e n t in this space. Now, of course, the opinions expressed above are entirely my own. As my readers are w e l l aware, while I am privileged to contribute to MUHAMMAD SPEAKS' columns, my writings printed therein do not comprise or reflect the official views of the "Nation of Islam" in America. Girl Blinded

Blast From

ROLLING FORK, Miss. — Under cloak of darkness, a shotgun blast from a moving auto was fired into the home of a civil rights worker here, striking and half-blinding a 13-year old Negro girl. Miss Jennie Willis was hit in the face and chest by the shotgun pellets and had to be taken to a Vicksburg Hospital where doctors removed her injured eye. " I DON'T see why anybody would want to hurt an innocent child," her mother, Mrs. Lillie Willis, said in an interview at her home. Mrs. Willis is a past president of

the Sharkey County Mississippi Freedom Democratic party. She said she and a neighbor, Will McGee, had made a Thanksgiving day visit to nearby Louise and had just driven back to her home when the shotgun blast occurred. Mrs. Willis said her daughter had o p e n e d the front door and was hit by the birdshot. Sheriff Johnnie Cooper of Sharkey County said today that his office had uncovered no clues. Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the State Highway patrol were also investigating.

BURNING QUESTION in minds of millions of people throughout world is posed by poem left on grave of Lee Harvey Oswald, whom the Warren Commission asserted was the lone assassin of President John F. Kennedy. Much controversy has been raised recently by

several books challenging the Commission's findings. The note says: LEE HARVEY OSWALD . . . Did he assassinate the President? . . . Was he truthfully accused? . . . Guilty, Yes? . . . Or was he innocent? . . . He has left all the world confused . . . signed . . . Jr.

SYMBOLIC RATIO of Negro-white troops fighting in Viet Nam? Asiatic diplomats have claimed information that "some 40 per cent" of all U.S. fighting men in Viet Nam are black. African leaders declare "the U.S. would have backed out of Viet Nam long ago, but for

fact that manly black people from America are being killed and wounded in Viet slaughter mill." These two Gl's are attempting to smoke Viet Cong troops out of bunker near central coast of Viet Nam.

FUEL FOR THOUGHT? Every week officials at Minneapolis' Ninth Federal Reserve destroy thousands and thousands in currency — getting rid of worn.-out bills. Each packet con-

tained 100 bills. Officials say old money is not entirely wasted: it burns at high temperature, helping to heat building.

MOST VALUABLE player in American League and one of hundreds of black athletes throughout America taking top honors in all fields of sports, Frank Robinson of the Baltimore Orioles, is accompanied by his wife at hospital news conference. He is recovering from operation to remove cracked cartilage and bone chip from his right knee.

SHORT-LIVED SMILE? This is what many world obesrvers might say of Jordan's King Houssein's joyful countenance. The 31year-old monarch faces mounting pressure to take stronger measures against Israel as military action accelerates on the border between Israel and Jordan.

By Dr. Leo P. X McCallum The most effective diet for preventing tooth decay is given to you free of charge every time you buy this newspaper and read the life-giving words of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in his column, "How to Eat to Live." INDEED, W H A T you eat may be less important in preventing tooth decay than what you don't eat. Taking vitamins and minerals won't help prevent tooth decay—but eating fewer sweets will. Bacteria plus sugar equals acid. We know today that these acids are the agents which destroy tooth structure. We agree that the complete elimination of sugar from our diet is quite a difficult thing to do. However, at least the • amount eaten can be reduced. No harm to H i w ^ ^ H nutrition will come from cutting down on BB candies, syrups, jams and jellies, sweets''™* ened drinks, pies, cakes and cookies. Your Dr. Leo dental health, as well as your general health, certainly will be improved. Take a look at the illustration in this column. Is there anyone in his right mind who believes it is all right to go around with a mouthful of diseased, bacteria-filled teeth like those shown? About Y o u By Harriett Muhammad (THIS IS I N ANSWER TO A LETTER PUBLISHED I N MY LAST COLUMN) Dear Mr. P. L . The human need to belong —to be a part of a people or group is a very strong force. WILKINS said the NAACP is trying to find ways to redirect such youths but on a $1,200,000 annual budget it is not easy.

Smoking-Related Deaths Rising in U.S. WASHINGTON — M o r e Americans are dying from diseases linked with smoking cigarets than ever before — and the rate is getting higher every year. THIS GRIM fact was reported in statistics released by the Public Health Service. Equally significant was the fact that while deaths are rising from the 11 diseases connected with smoking, the overall death rate in t h i s country is declining, the PHS release noted. A total of 253 persons for every 100,000 Americans died from the diseases connected with smoking in 1950. By 1964, these same smokingrelated diseases were killing 349 of every 100,000 Americans. The death rate from all diseases was declining from 964 per 100,000 in 1950 to 940 in 1964.

Italy Seeks Ways to Cut Tobacco Use ROME—Although the Italian government earns 10 per cent of its total revenue from its tobacco monopoly, officials here disclosed that they are considering ways to limit cigaret smoking as a health menace. THE MINISTRY of Health said, however, that its study of the question was only in a preliminary stage. No decisions have been reached. The Honorable Elijah Mu-

hammad, more than 35 years ago, pointed out the deadly nature of smoking. He is c r e d i t e d with "curing" countless numbers of black people of the lethal habit through his teachings. So far the Italian ministry's National H e a l t h Council has devoted most of its attention to measures short of establishing new bans or extending existing limitations on s: oking. Instead, the ministry said,

Center for Health Statistics derived these figures from examinations of 6672 noninstitutionalized adults, whose hands and feet were X-rayed to determine the degenerative changes in the joints. Most cases of osteoarthritis are mild under age 45, but from 45 up, the rates for moderate and severe cases increase steadily. Although under age 45 the prevalence among men is greater, the disease does attack both men and women. After age 55, women are more frequently affected. RACIAL, REGIONAL or urban - rural differences in the incidence of the disease are said to be non-existent. As yet no cure for arthritis has been discovered.

More than 2 Million Left South

WASHINGTON—It is fashionable these days to point out with emphasis that discrimination against b l a c k Americans is rampant in all sections of the United States and i t is, — but the fact is that the black exodus is from the South to the North and West.

but the overall percentages were greater. The bureau said 17.9 per cent of black Americans lived i n the Northeast last year — compared with 16 per cent in 1960. The percentage of Negroes living i n the North Central last year was 20.2, but was only 18.3 in 1960. While the greatest section of the black exodus migrates from the S o u t h , many Negroes, the reports pointed out, move West from Northern states.

MUHAMMAD S P E A K S

The Messenger

of Allah

What the Muslims Want ]•:•:

' .-'j This is the question asked most frequently by both the whites and the blacks. The answers to this question I shall state as simply as possible. 1. We want freedom. We want a full and complete freedom. 2. We want justice. Equal justice under the law. We want justice applied equally to all, regardless of creed or class or color. 3. We want equality of opportunity. We want equal membership in society with the best in civilized society. 4. We want our people in America whose parents or grandparents were descendants from slaves, to be allowed to establish a separate state or territory of their own—either on this continent or elsewhere. We believe that our former slave masters are obligated to provide such land and that the area must be fertile and minetally rich. We believe that our former slave masters are obligated to maintain and supply our needs in this separate territory for the next 20 to 25 years—until we are able to produce and supply our own needs. Since we cannot get along with them in peace and equality, after giving them 400 years of our sweat and blood and receiving in return some of the worst treatment human beings have ever experienced, we believe our contributions to this land and the suffering forced upon us by white America, justifies our demand for complete separation in a state or territory of our own. 5. We want freedom for all Believers of Islam now held in federal prisons. We want freedom for all black men and women now under death sentence in innumerable prisons in the North as well as the South. We want every black man and woman to have the freedom to accept or reject being separated from the slave master's children and establish a land of their own. We know that the above plan for the solution of the black and white conflict is the best and only answer to the problem between two people. 6. We want an immediate end to the police brutality and mob attacks against the socalled Negro throughout the United States. We believe that the Federal government should intercede to see that black men and women tried in white courts receive justice in accordance with the laws of the land—or allow us to build a new nation for ourselves, dedicated to justice, freedom and liberty. 7. As long as we are not allowed to establish a state or territory of our own. we demand not only equal justice under the laws of the United States, but equal employment opportunities—NOW! We do not believe that after 400 years of free or nearly free labor, sweat and blood, which has helped America become rich and powerful, that so many thousands of black people should have to subsist on relief, charity or live in poor houses. 8. We w . it the government of the United States to exempt our people from A L L taxation as long as we are deprived of equal justice under the laws of the land. 9. We want equal education—but separate schools up to 16 for boys and 18 for girls on the condition that the girls be sent to women's colleges and universities. We want all black childien educated, taught and trained by their own teachers. Under such schooling system we believe we will make a better nation of people. The United States government should provide,

Presents

free, all necessary text books and equipment, schools and college buildings. The Muslim teachers shall be left free to teach and train their people in the way of righteousness, decency and self respect. 10. We believe that intermarriage or race mixing should be prohibited. We want the religion of Islam taught without hinderance or suppression. These are some of the things that we, the Muslims, want for our people in North America,

What the Muslims Believe

§

1. W E B E L I E V E in the One God Whose proper Name is Allah. 2. W E B E L I E V E in the Holy Qur an and in the Scriptures of all the Prophets of God. 3. W E B E L I E V E in the truth of the Bible, but we believe that it has been tampered with and must be reinterpreted so that mankind will not be snared by the falsehoods that have been added to it. 4. W E B E L I E V E in Allah's Prophets and the Scriptures they brought to the people. 5. W E B E L I E V E in the resurrection of the dead—not in physical resurrection—but in mental resurrection. We believe t":.- t the socalled Negroes are most in need of mental resurrection; therefore, they will be resurrected first. Furthermore, we believe we are the people of God's choice, as it has been written, that God would choose the rejected and the despised. We can find no other persons fitting this description in these last days more than the so-called Negroes in America. We believe in the resurrection of the righteous. 6. W E B E L I E V E in the judgement; we believe this first judgement will take place as God revealed, in America . . . 7. W E B E L I E V E this is the time in history for the separation of the so-called Negroes and the so-called white Americans. We believe the black man should be freed in name as well as in fact. By this we mean that he should be freed from the names imposed upon him by his former slave masters. Names which identified him as being the slave master's slave. We believe that if we are free indeed, we should go in our own people's names —the black peoples of the earth. 8. W E B E L I E V E in justice for all. whether in God or not; we believe as others, that we are due equal justice as human beings. We believe in equality—as a nation—of equals. We do not believe that we are equal with our slave masters in the status of "freed slaves." We recognize and respect American citizens as independent peoples and we respect their laws which govern this nation. 9. W E B E L I E V E that the offer of integration is hypocritical and is made by those who are trying to deceive the black peoples into believing that their 400-year-old open enemies of freedom, justice and equality are, all of a sudden, their "friends." Furthermore, we believe that such deception is intended to prevent black people from realizing that the time in history has arrived for the separation from the whites of this nation. If the white people are truthful about their professed friendship toward the so-called Ne-

Honorable Elijah Muhammad

gro, they can prove it by dividing up America with their slaves. We do not believe that America will ever be able to furnish enough jobs for her own millions of unemployed, in addition to jobs for the 20,000,000 black people as well. 10. W E B E L I E V E that we who declared ourselves to be righteous Muslims, should not participate in wars which take the lives of humans. We do not believe this nation should force us to take part in such wars, for we have nothing to gain from it unless America agrees to give us the necessary territory wherein we may have something to fight for. 11. W E B E L I E V E our women should be respected and protected as the women of other nationalities are respected and protected. 12. W E B E L I E V E that Allah (God) appeared in the Person of Master VV. F a r d Muhammad, July, 1930; the long-awaited "Messiah" of the Christians and the "Mahdi" of the Muslims. We believe further and lastly that Allah is God and besides HIM there is no God and He will bring about a universal government of peace wherein we all can live in peace together.
