The President’s Message
MAY 2024 MESSAGE
Dear Brothers of the Mu Lambda Chapter,
As we reflect on the events of the month past, I am filled with a mix of emotions. April brought both moments of sadness and celebration, as we said farewell to cherished members of our chapter while also honoring the remarkable milestones of others.
First and foremost, we mourn the passing of our dear Brother Arthur King and our long-time member, Brother Kenneth Holbert who peacefully transitioned to our chapter of sweet rest. Their legacies will forever live on in our hearts, and their contributions to our fraternity and community will never be forgotten. Let us take a moment to remember their impact and honor their memory.
Amidst the somber moments, we also celebrated the incredible life of Brother Arlester Brown, who reached the remarkable milestone of 100 years. His dedication and service to our fraternity over the past 45 years are truly inspiring, and we were honored to celebrate this milestone with him.
Throughout the month, our commitment to service remained unbroken. Brother Jeffery Taylor led us in raising over $5000 for the March of Dimes, while Brother David Gaston forged connections with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.- Xi Zeta Omega Chapter for Earth Day. These efforts demonstrate our chapter’s dedication to making a positive impact in our community and the fostering of strong partnerships.
I also want to thank our delegates who represented Mu Lambda at ERC92 in Philadelphia. Your dedication and commitment to our fraternity are truly commendable, and I am grateful for the memories shared and the bonds strengthened during this weekend of fellowship.
As we approach our final chapter meeting before the new fraternal year, I want to thank everyone for your continued dedication and service to the Mu Lambda Chapter. Your hard work and commitment have made this one of the most productive years for our chapter in recent times, and I am proud to lead such a dedicated group of brothers.
Let us continue to show up, show out, and make a difference in our community and fraternity. Together, we can achieve great things and uphold the legacy of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Fraternally,
Brother Mikael E. LaRoche, President (10-Mu Lambda-13) 2023 - 2024

Vice President’s Message
MAY 2024 MESSAGE
Greetings Brothers,
I trust this message finds you all in good health and spirits. It’s crazy how swiftly this year has flown by; it seems the older we get, the faster time races past us. But let’s not dwell on that—no one wants to turn back the clock to the age of 21, right? (Well, maybe just for a moment!)
As we return from the 92nd Eastern Regional Convention, I am full of energy and optimism for the year ahead. The messages from our General President and Executive Director have underscored that our Mu Lambda chapter is definitely on the right path. We’ve already integrated many of their insights into our program planning and outreach efforts, such as the upcoming College Fair this Saturday May 4th, 2024. Hats off to Brother Samuel Armstrong for collaborating with other chapters in the DC area. This event promises not only benefits for our local Alphas but also serves as a model for regional and national initiatives and long-term recruitment efforts.
While we acknowledge there’s still work to be done and areas to refine, rest assured that we are making steady progress. Let’s approach the end of this fraternal year and planning for next, by building upon the foundation we’ve laid.
Together, we will continue to move onward and upward. Thank you all for your dedication and support.
Onward and Upward Fraternally,
Brother Joseph Gibbs Vice President (2-Beta-93) 2023 - 2024

REFLECTIONS ON THOSE WHO WOULD BE FIRST OF ALL!
On April1, 2024 I will have completed fortyseven years of service to Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. It is an uninterrupted forty-seven years in which I have never been inactive, never missed a Regional Convention and missed only three General Conventions!
As I ruminated upon the state of our fraternity, I thought it might be helpful to reflect on whence we came and where we are and share a few thoughts, particularly with those who have recently become members of this august body, as to where we need to go.
I will state categorically and unequivocally that the Alpha that I joined no longer exists, and that is not a compliment to this great house! Having said that, I also must add that the world that I now live in is also not the one that I grew up in and that too is not complimentary!
So, what has changed? What troubles my soul? What do I find has occurred to our detriment?
There are several things that have led us to this
point but fortunately, if we are so moved, they are correctable.
First, our standards in almost every category have eroded significantly. We, who have laid claim to academic excellence now have a sizeable element of our body, including some general officers who cannot read well. Ask them to read any passage of medium difficulty that includes words of two or three syllables, and they butcher the language such that it is painful to the discerning ear.
These same miscreants pollute written presentations with the misuse of “their,” “there,” “they’re” and other variants of words, even as we claim to be cloaked in “academic excellence!” Our espoused brotherhood has dissolved into factions and cliques that are destroying this fraternity. Chapters are often divided by artificial and brother -created groups that put the lie to brotherhood.
I never expected to agree with every brother, nor have every brother agree with me but I challenge any brother to accuse me of not speaking to him our exchanging greetings because we disagreed about some fraternal issue. My parents raised me better than that and Alpha did as well! This is commonplace in our chapters and fraternity these days.
The term “Brother” for me is a hallowed greeting or appellation. We have become “Bros,” and Bruhs,” and all other variants of Brothers. When I first joined the Mu Lambda chapter, I can remember the senior brothers
informing new brothers that we were not “guys” as some would refer to us in chapter meetings and correct their verbiage. Nowadays, we may be called many things, some too abhorrent to reiterate!
Our dress code has suffered a telling blow as I gaze upon the sartorial annihilation that is often foisted upon us by some of our brothers. I have observed facsimile of rodent nests that pass for hair styles and not only by younger brothers either!
I will not even take the time to discuss what color suit Alpha dress requires. It used to be a black suit. Now it is a “dark” suit, and suggestions are being made for alternate colors of Ivory and Gray! I guess Black and Old gold is no longer good enough! I have seen dark brown, dark green, dark blue, dark gray and am looking forward to the day when one of my brothers discovers a dark “white,” to wear. We have made a mockery of our dress code. Some General Presidents show up in General Convention sessions wearing blue or gray suits! I have been told by a District Direction that “I don’t look good in black!” So routinely he wears brown.
Maybe he should have chosen Iota Phi Theta as his fraternity! I had the awesome misfortune of observing a brother at a Regional Convention, clad in something akin to black silk pajamas and black bedroom slippers with gold embroidery on the instep! Lord our Founders must have disturbed their eternal rest as they
laid eyes upon him! This along with the red suits, purple suits and orange outfits that occasionally appear, make it hard for my alimentary canal to restrain itself! I will not even address today’s saranwrap suits that display any genitals available for observation!
It appears to me that, as men of Alpha, rather than taking our wares to the streets to help uplift them, we are bringing the streets into our fraternity to degrade it! I doubt that this is what our founders had in mind when we were asked to “uplift people everywhere and our people in particular!”
Finally, our vaunted brotherhood has also taken great hit. Brothers seem to feel little need to show up at the Omega services held for other brothers and obsequies for their wives. It is a sad commentary when we show such scant respect for those we call, “Brother!” I began my observations by stating that these ills are correctable, and they are, even though our world has suffered a similar ignominious descent.
The correction only lacks the will and perhaps the knowledge!
Fraternally,
BrotherRyle A. Bell

FRENCH EMBASSY RECOGNIZES OUR BROTHERREV. DR. ARLESTER BROWN
French Embassy recognizes Tec5
Bro. Rev, Dr. Arlester Brown, 599th Quartermaster Laundry Company for his WWII military service.
Bro. Brown, a spring ‘80 initiate of Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated was born on April 1, 1924 in Homer, Louisiana and spent a great deal of his life in Shreveport, Louisiana. At age 18, he was drafted on July 6, 1942 into the U.S. Army. Prior to the draft, Bro. Rev. Dr. Arlester Brown, a 1949 graduate of Grambling College was a running back on Grambling’s famous 1942 team which went unbeaten, untied, and unscored upon. After attending basic training at Camp Ellis in Peoria, Illinois, Arlester sailed to Southampton, England, and subsequently deployed in various locations across Saint Lo and Normandy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and the Rhineland area in Germany.
Bro. Brown worked as a Quartermaster engineer with the 599th Quartermaster Laundry Company which was known for its involvement in the historical cleaning and supply for the front line. The supply line was formed by all Black troops who worked tirelessly to keep the troops’ clothing and cleaning supplies in line while the soldiers were in and out of combat during World War II. He also assisted in providing the soldiers personal hygiene and clean clothing. He and other black soldiers were treated with more respect and equality in Europe than home in a highly segregated
American culture. His most memorable time in World War II was in January, 1945 when an unmanned buzz bomb exploded near him and he was hit by shrapnel.
Bro. Brown was discharged at Camp Shelby on December 28, 1945. Bro. Brown will return to France comprising a contingent of 80 fellow veterans for an 80th D-Day Celebration ahead of the Paris Olympics in June. A pilgrimage made possible by the Best Defense Foundation – Taking Care of the ones who took care of us –bdf.org.

On April 7, 2024, we were privileged to join the jubilant festivities honoring the remarkable 100th Birthday Celebration of the esteemed Brother Rev. Dr. Arlester Brown at the National United Methodist Church. The excitement was palpable as we immersed ourselves in the Sunday morning service, led by the dynamic Rev. Dr. Rachel Livingston a Howard University graduate.
As the service concluded, our spirits soared as we entered the Great Hall, bedecked in glorious tribute to the incredible life of Bro. Brown. Surrounded by his cherished family, beloved relatives, and the alumni association of Grambling State University, where Brother Brown attended.

His words echoed with passion and conviction, reminding us that with faith and determination, we can conquer any challenge life throws our way.
The accolades poured in, with Bro. Brown receiving well-deserved resolutions and proclamations from esteemed organizations and institutions, including the St. Louis County, MO Council, the State of Louisiana, and his beloved Grambling State University. His legacy of excellence and service was honored by the Best Defense Foundation and Blacks in Government, a testament to the profound impact he has made on countless lives.

WHO IS ARLESTER BROWN OUR BROTHER - THE LIVING LEGEND
On April 1, 1924, Rev. Dr. Arlester Brown was born in Spring Lake, Louisiana (a small village outside of Homer, Louisiana). He was born to the marriage of Mr. L. B. Brown and Mrs. Kathleen Henry Brown. As a young boy, he attended elementary school and did a lot of share cropping with many families in the corn fields. He spent a great deal of his childhood life in Grambling and Shreveport, Louisiana. He was reared by his grandparents, John Brown and Rosie Wilson Brown and his mother (with his sister and brothers). At the age of 12 years-old, he lived with his grandmother in Grambling, Louisiana and went to elementary school there.
He later attended junior high and high school on the campus of Grambling College. The entire family also worked on a farm outside of Minden, Louisiana to have an income and care for the family.
While living in Grambling, Louisiana, Coach Eddie Robinson made a recommendation for him to play football. Coach Eddie Robinson shared with his grandmother that he would make a very good football player at Grambling College. He played football and he enjoyed playingwith his best friend — PAUL “TANK” YOUNGER It was the happiest days of his life to be with a future LEDGEND!
He loved Coach Eddie Robinson and Coach Eddie Robinson treated him like he was his son. At age 18 (6 July 1942), he was drafted in the U.S. Army from Grambling, Louisiana. He received his booth camp training at Camp Ellis in Peoria, Illinois where he worked as a
Quartermaster engineer with the 599th Quartermaster Laundry Company. It was known for its involvement in the historical cleaning and supply for the front line. The supply line was formed by an all-Black troop who worked tirelessly to the keep the troops clothing and cleaning supplies in line while the soldiers were in and out of combat during World War Il. He also assisted in special attention in giving the soldiers personal hygiene and clean clothing. He along with other black soldiers were treated with more respect and equality in Europe than home in a highly segregated American culture. While in Germany, he was injured and hit in the face by a piece of metal from an unmanned buzz bomb.
On December 28, 1945, he was discharged from the U. S. Army where he received numerous military awards such as ATO Medal, EAMETO Medal, Good Conduct Award, World War Il Medal and Victory Medal. He returned home to Shreveport, Louisiana.
While in Shreveport, he continued his education under the GI Bill of Rights. He finished high school and earned his B.S. Degree in Education from Grambling State University (Grambling College). He also became a principal at CATO Parish in Shreveport, LA, and a clergy person (missionary). He studied and received two master’s degrees: one in Education from Texas Southern University and another one in Divinity from Howard University School of Religion and a Doctorate of Divinity from Universal Life Church. He left the Education field to seek a clergyman life. During his first summer at Westley Theological Seminary, he and his entire class went to Canal Zone for a summer. He also conducted a missionary trip and journey for two groups to Israel and to SouthAfrica as well.
Today, he is a retired clergyman who has ministered in many churches in Louisiana and the Washington District area. He also served as a Superintendent in the VA, DC and Maryland area, Advocate for 100 Men March in Washington, DC, and was employed by Washington DC Kennedy Center. In addition, he supported the DC Counsel Men Families and the action for “Get Crime Out of DC”. He pastored in DC at Westley United Methodist Church, Northeast DC Church (Integrated church for 1
year), Howard University School of Divinity and CME Churches. He was so proud to provide his ministry and service. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his outstanding works in bringing many to Christ.
On July 29, 2024, he had the honor and pleasure to return to Normandy, France via the Best Defense Foundation (BDF) organization from California where he and many other veterans were greeted with awesome cheers by many. He shared with many that the trip to France was quite an experience and he truly enjoyed it as he cheered, “What a way to bring us back home!”; He marked the Omaha Beach, the French and German Cemetery, National Catholic Church, the City Parade with the holy spirit and a blessing with singing — “Amazing Grace”. The Normandy, France trip really helped him to answer some questions that he had over the years. Normandy, France will be forever in his heart and his service in World War Ill will never be forgotten. SALUTE! God Almighty is his co-pilot.
His favorite quote is “I am blessed to be a blessing”
Quotes from our Brothers:
“Attending the centennial celebration for Bro. Dr Brown was inspirational. It wasn’t lost on me that not only has he seen a multitude and experienced so much in his personal life, he has the experience of witnessing the spiritual evolution of society through his lens as a minister. His denomination has also gone through a lot of change. United Methodism has grown and contracted in its influence, and usually to the better when we consider its inclusion of Black clergy. Seeing our good brother as a part of this long story was such a proud moment for me, so I can’t imagine the pride he felt. Congratulations on the journey and for allowing your Alpha brothers to be such a natural part of your story.”
Reverend Brother, George B Walker, M.Div“It’s truly a profound honor to gather and celebrate the remarkable life of Brother Arlester Brown. His resonant voice echoes with wisdom and experience, reflecting a journey that spans from Grambling to the Army, from Alpha Phi Alpha to Ministry. As we listen to his narrative, we’re reminded of the richness of his experiences and the depth of his character. Looking ahead, Brother Brown’s journey takes him to Normandy in the upcoming months, where he will be duly honored—an occasion that highlights not just his individual achievements but also his commitment to service and remembrance. Reflecting on his journey, Brother Brown shares insightful words: “As we mature, we shed parts of ourselves daily, yet the parts that remain must be nurtured continually to ensure more days ahead.” His emphasis on the importance of nutrition resonates deeply: “One of the greatest things you can do for yourself is to know how to eat, what to eat, and when to eat. You are what you eat.” In these words, we find not just practical advice but a profound philosophy of selfcare and preservation—a testament to Brother Brown’s enduring wisdom and legacy.”

MU LAMBDA VOTER DRIVE
A Continued Campaign to Educate
Within the political-economic context of the Great Depression, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. launched and developed its “A Voteless People is a Hopeless People” national voter education program during the 1930s. Initially referred to as the “Campaign of Education for Citizenship,” Mu Lambda Chapter Brothers and former General Presidents Dr. Charles H. Wesley and Dr. Rayford W. Logan were early leaders of our historic voter participation drive. In 1938, Dr. Logan– then-Fraternity Director of Education – stated:
“The Fraternity seeks no glory for itself . . . it wishes merely to arouse Negroes from the lethargy of a generation and to make them and the rest of the nation realize that Democracy is a farce so long as eight millions of people in the Southern States are effectively disenfranchised.”
(see attached vintage article)
Though our country has come a long way since 1938 – in part because of the efforts of civic oriented brothers like Drs. Wesley and Logan – the challenges our communities face today still threaten the egalitarian principles of Democracy. From misinformation and disinformation campaigns to blatant and violent efforts to intimidate democratically elected officials, the risks of political regression have been unmistakably clear during recent electoral history.
Accordingly, Alpha Phi Alpha’s efforts to educate its membership and the communities we serve about the importance of remaining politically engaged is ever more important. A critical first step to informed electoral participation is getting to know the candidates.
Here are some members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity – including incumbents and new candidates – that are running for office on the federal and statewide levels. This list is not exhaustive and will be supplemented on a forward basis.
Bro. Ras Baraka – Newark Mayor has expressed intent to run to be New Jersey’s next
Bro. Emmanuel Cleaver – Incumbent will run for Kansas City-based congressional seat
Bro. Danny Davis – Incumbent is facing a primary challenge for Chicago-based congressional seat
Bro. Al Green – Incumbent will run for Houston-based congressional seat
Bro. Hill Harper – Actor and activist is in contentious primary race to contend for retiring Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow’s seat
Bro. Adam Hollier – Former State Senator is challenging a Detroit-based incumbent in a district that loss Black representation for first time in 70 years
Bro. Steve Horsford – Incumbent runs for Las Vegas-based congressional seat that has historically been considered a battleground district.
Bro. Gregory W. Meeks – Incumbent runs for Queens-based congressional seat with hopes to regain Foreign Affairs Committee gavel if Democrats win the House
Bro. Ty Pinkins - US Senate race for Mississippi, Army VET and Democrat. Bro. David Scott - Incumbent runs for Richmond-based congressional seat with hopes to regain Education and Labor Committee gavel if Democrats win the House
Bro. Bobby Scott - Incumbent runs for Newport News-based congressional seat with hopes to regain Agriculture Committee gavel if Democrats win the House
Locally, we have our own Brother Villareal “VJ” Johnson and Brother Kelvin Brown in the race for Councilman in Ward 7 in Washington D.C.
We wish ALL of our brothers well in their respective campaigns, and any brother unnamed similar fortune.

10 THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY TO BE GREENER!
Like most of us, I recently have been making efforts to live a greener life. I have also been trying to help support my clients in doing so as well. Transitioning to a greener lifestyle starts with simple changes. By embracing practices like recycling, conserving energy and water, and choosing sustainable options, we can make a big impact. Supporting local, reducing plastic use, and advocating for the environment are also key. These small steps add up to a brighter, more sustainable future for our planet.
1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Start by minimizing waste in your daily routine. Recycle paper, plastic, glass, and metal whenever possible. Opt for reusable items instead of single-use products.
2. Conserve Energy: Turn off lights, unplug electronics, and use energy-efficient appliances to reduce your electricity consumption. Set your thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter and higher in the summer to save on heating and cooling costs.
efficient or electric vehicle.
5. Eat Plant-Based Meals: Incorporate more fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes into your diet while reducing your consumption of meat and dairy products. Plant-based diets have a lower carbon footprint and promote better health.
6. Support Local and Organic: Purchase produce and other goods from local farmers markets or organic sources to reduce the environmental impact of transportation and support sustainable farming practices.
7. Plant Trees: Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, making them vital for combating climate change. Consider planting native trees in your yard or participating in tree-planting initiatives in your community.
8. Reduce Plastic Use: Minimize your use of single-use plastics such as straws, bags, and bottles. Choose reusable alternatives like stainless steel water bottles and cloth shopping bags.
9. Conscious Consumerism: Before making purchases, consider the environmental and ethical implications of the products you buy. Support companies that prioritize sustainability and fair labor practices.
10. Educate and Advocate: Share your knowledge about environmental issues with

EMPOWER OUR YOUTH DC ALPHA COLLEGE FAIR OPENS DOORS TO HIGHER EDUCATION
In a bid to empower the youth of Washington DC area and provide them with the tools for a brighter future, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mid Atlantic Association Conference Area VI Chapters is proud to announce the inaugural DC Alpha College Fair. Set to take place on May 4th from 10 am to 2pm at the Paul Public Charter School located at 5800 8th Street NW, Washington DC, this event aims to bridge the gap between high school and college for local students.
With a lineup featuring over 30 colleges, Washington DC Metropolitan Police and Fire Department, workshops, giveaways, and a dynamic step presentation by the Beta Chapter, the DC Alpha College Fair promises to be an enriching experience for all attendees. But beyond the attractions, the core mission of the fair resonates deeply with the fraternity’s longstanding commitment to education and community upliftment.
At the heart of this initiative lies the "Goto-High-School, Go-to-College" program, a cornerstone of Alpha Phi Alpha's national agenda since its establishment in 1922. This program emphasizes the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a pathway to success and advancement. Through informative sessions and mentorship
opportunities, young men are equipped with the knowledge and strategies needed to navigate the journey to higher education.
The dedication of Area VI chapters to the success of this event has been unwavering, with months of meticulous planning ensuring a seamless and impactful experience for the community. Special recognition is due to the Brothers from the Mu Lambda chapter, including Brother Timothy Fitzgerald, Swain Riley, Reginald Salter, and Marcus Spells, whose tireless efforts have been instrumental in bringing the vision of the DC Alpha College Fair to fruition.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to Brother Mickel LaRoche for his invaluable contribution to branding the event and creating a distinctive identity for the DC Alpha College Fair.
As the Chair of this momentous occasion, I am humbled to serve alongside dedicated brothers and volunteers who share a common goal: to Empower our youth, broaden their horizons, and pave the way for a future filled with endless possibilities. Together, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people in the Washington DC area, guiding them towards a brighter tomorrow through the power of education and opportunity.
The DC Alpha College Fair represents not only a celebration of academic excellence but also a testament to the unwavering commitment of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to uplift communities and nurture the leaders of tomorrow. We invite all youth, families, and educators to join us on May 4th as we embark on this journey together.

MU LAMBDA SENDS 8 DELEGATES TO THE CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE FOR THE 92nd EASTERN REGIONAL CONVENTION
15 members of Mu Lambda descended upon Philadephia for our 92nd Eastern Regional Convention at the end of April. A momentous occassion filled with pomp and
circumstance. We partook in every business meeeting, discussion and idea session to ensure a full report could be shared with our chapter.
“You just have to be there to enjoy the comraderie and fellowship gained from a convention” - Bro. Baker’s sentiment as we shared words after the trip. I am proud to look back now at the dinner, convention hallway networking, laughs and memories captured in this trip. I look forward to ERC 92 next year close to home in Bethesda MD, and a return to the east for General Convenstion in Philly, 2025.

FEDERAL DONATIONS TO MU LAMBDA
Brothers, it is that time of year when we begin to think in the spirit of giving and giving thanks. In that spirit, the Mu Lambda Foundation participates in two key funding programs through which federal and District of Columbia employees can share the gift of the giving.
The Combined Federal Campaign - CFC (https://www.opm.gov/combined-federal-campaign) is a resource that allows U.S. government employees to make regular payroll deductions in support of the Mu Lambda Foundation and its charitable and community service programs.
The DC One Fund (https://os.dc.gov/page/dc-one-fund-each-one-give-one) provides an opportunity for employees of the District of Columbia to do the same. All donations through these funds are tax deductible and deducted from your paycheck regularly. What could be an easier or better way to support the programs you care about?
As open season begins for 2023, you may plan your weekly, biweekly, or monthly contributions to the Mu Lambda Foundation by contributing to charity number 66770 in the CFC, and number 9556 in the DC One Fund.
Let’s make 2023 the best year yet for supporting youth and abused women in the DC area. Thank you for your continued support.

Add tomato paste, cumin, and garlic; cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add tomatoes, bell pepper and the reserved chopped eggplant; cook, stirring occasionally, until the eggplant is tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in parsley, olives and vinegar.

Brother Henry L. Dickason, 5th General President
As May unfolds, heralding longer days and warmer weather, it's time to embrace the joyous occasions of Mother's Day and Memorial Day! While Memorial Day often conjures images of blockbuster movie marathons, it also offers a splendid opportunity to revel in the outdoors and bask in the delightful weather. Whether you reside in a locale conducive to a classic picnic with blankets and baskets or opt to bring the essence of summer indoors, planning a Memorial Day picnic promises an idyllic way to kick off the season’s inaugural long weekend in the company of cherished family and friends.
When it comes to Mother’s Day, the key to unlocking your mom’s heart lies not in material gifts, but in the treasure trove of shared moments. While presents are certainly appreciated, nothing rivals the magic of spending quality time with those who matter most. Whether it’s a leisurely shopping spree, a cozy movie night, or a sumptuous dinner date, prioritize carving out precious moments to savor with your mom. Regardless of the activity, the true essence lies in the gift of time, creating cherished memories that will forever grace the corridors of her heart. May the month of May shower you and your family with boundless joy and happiness.

Alpha is a life long commitment
An Alpha Phi Alpha man’s attitude should not be “how much can I derive from the Fraternity” but “how much can I do for the Fraternity?” In proportion to what he does for his Chapter and for Alpha Phi Alpha will a member receive lasting benefits from the Fraternity to himself in the way of self-development by duty well done, and the respect of the Brothers well served.
A member’s duties should be:
1. Prompt payment of all financial obligations, the prime requisite for successful fraternal life.
2. The doing of good scholastic work in his chosen vocation, thereby accomplishing the real end of a college course.
3. The reasonable endeavor to participate in general college activities and social service and to excel therein.
4. The proper consideration of all things with appropriate attention to the high moral standard of Alpha Phi Alpha.
