BREAKING THE RULES

feel like we are trapped in a box of expectations and rigid rules. How is this still true in 2020? We have come so far in the last 100 years. We have electricity, cars, mobile phones, incredible medical breakthroughs as well as being in the age of personal development, yet how is it we are stuck with the expectations of the 1950’s perfect housewife?. You know that era where the perfect woman was a married woman who would make it her life’s mission to clean, tidy, have all the meals prepped and ready for when her husband came home, and make sure that there was no mess or noise that would upset him. She would give her husband her undivided attention and submit to his every need and whim without complaint or care for her own wellbeing or needs. Maybe things have changed since then, however, the underlying need and expectation to be the perfect wife, mother and lover is still embedded in our need to fulfil the ‘good girl’ role we have been programmed to perform.

Many women still don’t feel free or safe to: • Express their thoughts or feelings • Say no • Love who they want to love, man or woman • Not want to be in a relationship • Not want to be a mother • Dress how they want to dress

TO BE A WOMAN IS A GIFT TO EXPERIENCE, YET SO MANY WOMEN FEAR THEIR FEMININITY, ARE SCARED OF THEIR SEXUALITY AND ARE REPELLED BY THEIR NATURAL CYCLES.

Being a woman can sometimes

• To be who they truly are

We will never find peace within ourselves, and our world won’t change unless we are willing to be brave and to break the confines of being the good girl.

Women all around the world, from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds are waking up to the fact that their role in life is not to please others, rather to live a life that expresses who they truly are. To share their natural gifts with the world and be of service to others in a way that is fulfilling and sustainable rather than self-sacrificing.

This evolution of women has been happening for centuries yet not without a backlash from men and also other women who believe our role is to submit to others needs and to the higher sex… men.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not a manhater. I love men. I love their strength, courage and abilities that come naturally to them. What I am though is a woman who over her life of 35 years has been physically, sexually, and mentally abused by the opposite sex because I was a woman and nothing was done about it, either because I didn’t know what my rights were or no one thought it bad enough to stop it. At the tender age of 8, I was inappropriately touched by a 13 year old boy. Then as a 16 year old employee who’s senior manager, explicitly told me how he wanted me as his mistress, he was 60! These are just a couple of the numerous experiences. I know women all around the world experience this daily and worse. Most times women don’t speak up like I didn’t. At the time I didn’t know I could say no, that I could speak up and tell someone what happened without feeling as if those experiences were my fault and the shame that society has conditioned us to feel when do speak up.

I am a mum of 3, 1 boy and 2 girls and I teach my children daily that their needs are a priority, that they can say no and speak up if something is wrong. I am teaching my girls that to be a woman doesn’t mean you need to get married and have kids, or to even love a man, rather it’s about following what feels right for you. Following your heart and intuition and letting it guide you on what your life should be and feel like. That they are not to submit to another’s will just because they are of the opposite sex, or in a so-called ‘higher position’.

I show them by role modelling it. I role model it to others around me by walking my talk. I educate men and women by sharing my knowledge, experience and personal thoughts.

We will never find peace within ourselves, and our world won’t change unless we are willing to be brave and to break the confines of being the good girl.
