Breaking the
Rules
Maybe things have changed since then, however, the underlying need and expectation to be the perfect wife, mother and lover is still embedded in our need to fulfil the ‘good girl’ role we have been programmed to perform. Many women still don’t feel free or safe to: • Express their thoughts or feelings • Say no • Love who they want to love, man or woman • Not want to be in a relationship • Not want to be a mother • Dress how they want to dress • To be who they truly are
TO BE A WOMAN IS A GIFT TO EXPERIENCE, YET SO MANY WOMEN FEAR THEIR FEMININITY, ARE SCARED OF THEIR SEXUALITY AND ARE REPELLED BY THEIR NATURAL CYCLES.
B
eing a woman can sometimes feel like we are trapped in a box of expectations and rigid rules.
How is this still true in 2020? We have come so far in the last 100 years. We have electricity, cars, mobile phones, incredible medical breakthroughs as well as being in the age of personal development, yet how is it we are stuck with the expectations of the 1950’s perfect housewife?.
You know that era where the perfect woman was a married woman who would make it her life’s mission to clean, tidy, have all the meals prepped and ready for when her husband came home, and make sure that there was no mess or noise that would upset him. She would give her husband her undivided attention and submit to his every need and whim without complaint or care for her own wellbeing or needs.
We will never find peace within ourselves, and our world won’t change unless we are willing to be brave and to break the confines of being the good girl. MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT |
