BREAKING THE RULES

How writing my story led to my In brief, I went through a year of PTSD after an incident at my home and then 10 months later to endure a double miscarriage well I thought my world was falling apart. I had the benefit of working in mental health for 4 years so I knew what I needed to do to healing keep myself managed but it didn’t cure the deep-rooted feeling that I wanted to understand at a very deep level ‘Why Me?’ Fast forward a couple of years and I had emigrated to Australia from Ireland and had 2 more children (4 in total) and was building a lovely life for me and my family. Then it happened, an epiphany moment that would change the trajectory of my life. I was watching The View and Whoopi Goldberg had a reality 2007 WAS ONE OF THOSE YEARS, YOU KNOW THE ONES THAT PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLERS ARE MADE OF. A YEAR I NEVER WANTED TO RELIVE AGAIN. IN HINDSIGHT, IT WAS A YEAR THAT SET ME UP FOR A HUGELY SUCCESSFUL DECADE TO FOLLOW BUT IT TV couple on the show who had endured a miscarriage in front of the world, the woman was very fragile about it and Whoopi turned her back to the camera looked at the woman

You never know where your sharing your story can lead you in life and business...

I tell people who endure this, this was a visitor that came to tell you that you are not on the right track in life and that when you get on the right track your gift will come.’ Well those words floored me! They were the words my heart longed to hear. I thought back to when I lost my twins and I realised that the year before I miscarried I was numb, numb to feeling anything due to PTSD and when I lost them I woke up again, I began to feel, I cried tears for them, I cried tears for the year I had lost before losing them but most importantly I began to feel again I wrote a blog about it as I was writing for Building Beautiful Bonds at the time but that wasn’t enough and so when I stumbled across NanoWrimo program two days before it began in 2010 I knew that I had to accept the challenge to write a 50000 word novel in 30 days.

So for 30 days I wrote 1667 words a day on a novel I called The Visitor: a magical understanding of uncertainty. This novel spewed out of me, I don’t know where the story came from all I know is that it flowed out on to the page and for a girl who was not good at English at school there was no one more amazed than me.

The important aspects of my sharing this story with you is because not only did it help me to heal and connect with others it was also a catalyst into my life purpose of helping people share their stories with the world and it was the first step of me founding my publishing empire.

You never know where your sharing your story can lead you in life and business, it will take courage and dedication but I promise you will not only heal yourself, you will help others heal too.
