Pearl: It definitely was not because I love cleaning, in fact I hated it!
This desire originated from being disillusioned by a few incidences I witnessed in my corporate career as a private banker in Singapore. The last straw was when 911 happened. It was a massive wake-up call for me as I imagined all the lives lost in the buildings that look exactly like mine. I asked my 29-year-old self then, would I be happy with the life I led if a plane came through the window that morning? The answer was a resounding no. I didn’t know what it would look like then, but I felt that my purpose was for something bigger than being a corporate slave, adding more millions to a bank’s bottom-line.
I had a burning desire to create a more purpose-lead business that could create a positive impact.
After more research, I was horrified to learn that cleaning products contained toxic ingredients, many of It explained why growing up with a mum who loved to clean, I suffered severe asthma and sensitive skin. It also explained my aversion to cleaning in my adult life!
