f you’re on a merry-go-round and you want to get off, do it. If your head is messy and you don’t know what you want in life or why you’re here, I urge you to do the work to discover and unpack the answers to your questions. This process is easier than you think. Discovering this comes in many forms, and for me, it’s through reflection on lived experiences, practising gratitude, journaling and living an intentional imbalance; the art of knowing which juggling balls to keep in the air and which ones to drop while always ensuring the glass ones are well taken care of. For many years, my husband and I were living a life we didn’t want

forever. We had a plan though, we knew it was short-lived, and we knew it was to enable our bigger dreams. The mining lifestyle wasn’t for us, but it provided us with our home while allowing me to work flexibly around young children. It secured our financial stability to enable us to be our own boss, own our own business and be together as a family every night. AKA, the dream. When I used to hear the word ‘goal setting’, particularly in a KPI setting environment in a corporate workplace, I’d generally think, ‘ugh, can’t we just get on with the job, stop the woo-woo, and let’s get to it’. Age is a beautiful thing, and with it comes experience and reflection. There is a reason why with every
dream you have that you share, someone is telling you to set goals and work towards them. It sounds overwhelming, and at the start, it can be. In its most straightforward format, though, dreams and goals can be done in reverse. It’s far more manageable this way. Write out exactly what your dream or goal is. It takes less time than you think and provides enhanced clarity. I love to do this on a whiteboard, but a notebook, scrap of paper or anything really will do, as long as it’s handwritten first. There is a power and energy that comes from setting an intention via the handwritten word.
