Focus and Eligibility The Exhibition of Central New York Artists features the work of professional artists working in the following counties: Albany, Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Tioga, Tompkins, Washington, and Warren. The 63rd Exhibition of Central New York Artists will feature new work in any medium. For time arts, artists will submit a DVD that includes a segment totaling no more than 10 minutes in case the juror decides to view only a portion of a longer work. For performance or installation, artists will submit a one-page proposal and supplementary visual material. For other media, artists will submit five images on a CD: jpeg 72 dpi, image size no larger than 800 x 800 pixels or 4" x 4". We will be requesting larger files for publications. All images should be clearly identified and correspond to the checklist. All work submitted for consideration should be available for exhibition. The juror will choose work for the exhibition from these materials. A short biography, artist’s statement (if you have one), and résumé noting the artist’s exhibition history and the location of work in public or private collections should accompany the visual materials in hard copy and on CD. Artists who are selected to participate in the 63rd Exhibition of Central New York Artists will be contacted by the Museum regarding the choice of specific work(s) for the show. More than one piece may be chosen. Artists whose work is not selected for the exhibition will be notified by mail.

Juror Sue Scott founded Sue Scott Gallery in 2008, bringing 25 years of experience as a curator, writer and art consultant to the gallery. As an Adjunct Curator of Contemporary Art at the Orlando Museum of Art for nineteen years, she organized solo exhibitions of the works of Bryan Hunt, Jane Hammond, Suzanne McClelland, Katherine Bowling, Frank Moore, Kerry James Marshall, Jennifer Bartlett and Alex Katz, among others. Group exhibitions by Scott include Proof Positive: Forty Years of Printmaking at ULAE at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Witness Theories of Seduction for Dorsky Curatorial Programs, and The Edward R. Broida Collection: A Selection of Works for the Orlando Museum of Art. In 2005, she established One Eye Pug, a publishing company specializing in contemporary monotypes. She is a co-author, along with Helaine Posner, Eleanor Heartney and Nancy Princenthal of the award-winning book After the Revolution: Women Who Transformed Contemporary Art (2007), and with One Eye Pug, co-published with Hard Press Editions, Suzanne McClelland: rock and shift (2008). Liability, Shipping, and Costs Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute does not assume responsibility for any work in transit. Artwork is insured while at the Museum of Art. Artists must bear all incoming and outgoing transportation costs as well as any extraordinary materials or labor costs required for installation of their work. Works may not be removed before the close of the exhibition. Any work left at the Museum of Art after the exhibition closes, without special arrangement with the Museum of Art Registrar, may be sold by the Museum of Art, subject to a storage charge and/or shipped to the artist collect. The Institute reserves the right to reproduce works photographically for publicity purposes. Illustrated Catalog A catalog of the exhibition, with checklist, illustrations, and abbreviated artists’ résumés will be published and widely distributed. Purchase of Work The Museum of Art may purchase work from the exhibition for its Artists of Central New York collection. Purchases by individuals may be made at the MWP Gift Gallery. The Gift Gallery will handle all sales, for a commission of 40%, except for those artists affiliated with a commercial gallery. Sales by gallery-affiliated artists must be transacted through their gallery or with the artists. Application Instructions 1. Complete entry form. 2.
