The Museum Shop is Still Growing

B

ack in 1960 when the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute first opened the doors to its newly designed Philip Johnson museum building, The Art Shop was limited to a small corner on the First Floor Galleries with an austere setting and stools for patrons to rest on while browsing through books. Today, the former Art Shop, now-former Gift Gallery, is being renamed the Museum Shop, a name fitting to its mission of offering tokens and treasures that one will recall from their visit from a fine arts institution. We have grown from that small corner to almost doubling in size including a full jewelry counter. Along with exhibition catalogs, note cards, magnets, prints and other custom products from our collection, we represent more than 100 local artists who share their talents with our shop. While we have evolved over 50 years, we still stay true to customer service and a wonderful selection of gifts.
