Fiddle Masters to Appear in Concerts in the Court “The violin sings, but the fiddle dances” Satur day, Mar ch 29 • 8 p.m.
T
he power couple of the fiddling world take the stage in the Museum of Art as The Concerts in the Court series presents Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy: Masters of the Fiddle 8 p.m. Saturday, March 29 in the Edward Wales Root Sculpture Court.
Known for her flamboyant skill and trademark step dancing, Natalie MacMaster is the sweetheart superstar of the Cape Breton fiddle. Donnell Leahy, son of a fiddler father and a champion step-dancing mother, is widely acclaimed for his musical agility. Together, Natalie and Donnell meld their virtuosities into a whirlwind of fiddle-driven music, dance, and song, combining the best of French, Celtic, American bluegrass and even Cajun styles and making it their own. Joined by two highly-acclaimed pianists, Mac Morin and Erin Leahy, they deliver the foot-tapping rave-ups, heart-wrenching ballads, and world-class step dancing that has brought audiences to their feet on three (and counting) continents. Tickets for this performance and for all Concerts in the Court are $36.50 for members, $41.50 for general admission, and $16.50 for students. Flexible subscriptions are also available. The museum opens at 7 p.m. so patrons may view the current exhibitions, socialize and visit the Gift Gallery. Concerts in the Court also feature a cash bar and special gallery talks at intermission. For tickets contact the Performing Arts Ticket Office at 797-0055 or 800-754-0797. Tickets are also available online at www.mwpai.org.

The landscape of fashion after World War II was one of profound contrasts, aptly reflecting the culture and social trends of the times. These were years that saw the rebirth of the couture that had languished during the war, the rise of American fashion, and ultimately, the emergence of a looser, more casual approach to dressing, fueled by teenage pop culture, technology, and the glamour of an uncommonly youthful First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy.
