Internationally renowned pianist Jeffrey Siegel returns for another season of Keyboard Conversations® 7:30 p.m. Saturday, September 11, in the Sinnott Family – Bank of Utica Auditorium with The Glorious Music of Chopin! Be delighted as Mr. Siegel explores the dreamy nocturnes, virtuoso études, and soulful mazurkas of Frédéric Chopin, the celebrated Polish-born pianist and composer of matchless genius in the realm of keyboard music. The popular Keyboard Conversations® format offers listeners the opportunity to discover the influences that affected the creation of the music. Mr. Siegel shares details about each composition that lead the audience to realize the subtleties and intricacies of these great works. The evening concludes with a session of questions and answers. Museum of Art Fashioning Art from Paper: Isabelle de Borchgrave OCTOBER 16 THROUGH JANUARY 9 The breathtaking masterpieces of celebrated contemporary Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave will be showcased when the Museum of Art presents Fashioning Art from Paper, opening October 16. Through her expert manipulation of paper and paint, de Borchgrave fashions meticulously detailed recreations of historic garments found in early European paintings and collections from around the world—from Renaissance finery to the grand fashion designers of the 19th and 20th centuries. The exhibition will include nearly 100 intricately handcrafted paper artworks, representing more than 500 years of fashion history that recall the Italian Renaissance in Florence, the magic of The Ballet Russse (Russia’s famed ballet) as well as modern fashion designs. Her series of kaftans, inspired by the Silk Road textiles of Central Asia, are an amazing sight to behold. This exhibition promises to be the perfect combination of fashion, history, contemporary art, and dazzling technique.

Join us as he presents a fast-paced, illustrated talk about the life, career, and legacy of Frederick Law Olmsted along with a mini-travelogue of selected Olmsted landscapes—including those designed by his son, who did so much work in Utica. Come learn about the extraordinary legacy of this Renaissance man and how his contributions are still relevant today.
The year 2022 marks the 200th birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted. Utica has an impressive parks system designed by his son, Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr., on land generously donated by the Proctor family that continues to enhance the quality of life for area residents. The Olmsted family left an enormous imprint on the American landscape by designing urban, state, and national public parks, private estates and gardens, residential neighborhoods, communities, and institutional campuses. The Olmsted philosophy focused on physical and mental health and the role of parks in enacting democracy in a multi-ethnic, multiracial society.
