Part of my mission as Executive Director is to ensure that our programming is accessible to everyone. From subsidizing thousands of tickets, programming close to 75 shows for under $30, and hosting several free events every year, it is important to us that our theaters are open to all. One of the best things about the arts is they inspire conversations. That’s why we endeavor to offer programming that not only brings people together, but gives them something to talk about. From kindergarteners seeing their favorite books come to life as part of our School Days Series, to hosting the first community screenings of important documentaries such as The Heroin Effect, both theaters are a place to not just be entertained (and I sure hope you are!) but to be inspired. We want to be the place where you stretch, engage, and talk to each other; a warm, creative gathering place that leaves you feeling energized and connected. As we celebrate our 139th year, we’re going to continue to program entertaining, quality, thought-provoking, relevant

OUR COMMUNITY Food for Thought As we head into our third year collaborating with Gather (formerly Seacoast Family Food Pantry) for the Fill the Hall Food Drive on Saturday, June 24, we reflect on our mission to give back to our community. We love providing high-quality experiences for our patrons, and we also love doing our part to make our community a better place by connecting with the arts and with one another.

I love this event because when I place a bag on a seat I can see how I’m helping a person, and that’s powerful

– Attendee at 2016’s Fill the Hall

For 200 years Gather has been helping people in the Seacoast get access to food, personal care products, and education for healthy living. All the food and supplies donated for Fill the Hall go directly to the Summer Meals 4 Kids program, which helps fill the gap during school vacations when subsidized meals are not available. Gather provides 10 healthy meals a week for nearly 400 children on the Seacoast for the 11 weeks of summer. We hope you’ll join us on Saturday, June 24 to help us Fill The Hall with food or a monetary gift to help the people in our community who need it the most. Find out more about how you can help at TheMusicHall.org. Learn more at GatherNH.org.

Member Spotlight: Neely Barnhardt This month, we are shining our Member Spotlight on Neely Barnhardt. Neely is not just a Music Hall member, but also one of our all-star volunteers. Check out her interview with our Membership Coordinator, Alexis Hahalis, to learn more about Neely and head over to our blog for the full interview.

A Great Season of Director's Club Events We want to thank those who helped make these gatherings a success this year, including our Director’s Club members, generous hosts, and sponsor Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank. Over the course of the last year, we have enjoyed: • Coffee, cocktails, and small bites at Profile Coffee Bar • Touring the Seacoast’s newest dog boarding, daycare, and grooming facility, Coastal Canine Resort • Mingling with the cast of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast • A special film night at the Historic Theater • A night out at the neighborhood ice rink, The Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond, Strawbery Banke Museum • Happy Hour at Franklin Oyster House in preparation for Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo • A Farm to Table dinner at The Food Barn at Eastman’s Corner • Celebrating the start of summer at the Atlantic Grill Director's Club events are open to members at the Patron level and above and are a great way to socialize with other supporters of the arts while being introduced to new places around the Seacoast. show we saw, we were hooked. Once you walk into the theater, there’s no turning back. It is truly a gem in Portsmouth.

AH: You’re not only a Music Hall member but you’re also a volunteer! How long have you been volunteering and what do you like most about it? NB: I went through training 3 years ago and have probably volunteered at 75+ shows. If you have a question about Right Orchestra – I’m your go-to gal! One of my favorite things is to see children in the theater. I’ve seen their wide eyes as they enter the magical lower lobby and as they watched Mary Poppins fly through the sky. The Kitchen Tour is also a highlight for me.

In addition to sponsoring the event since 2003, Scott Purswell, President of Dovetailed Kitchens, donates his time as well. For the past six years he has served as a member of the Kitchen Tour organizing committee, and during each tour you can find him in one of the many amazing kitchens. This kind of commitment is not a surprise from Dovetailed Kitchens, as they are focused on the long-term, working with clients to create spaces to enjoy now and for years to come. Thank you to our Kitchen Tour sponsors! We would like to gratefully acknowledge the generous contributions of the homeowners, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who made this year’s Kitchen Tour a success. Over the past 26 years, this annual fundraiser has become a beloved Seacoast tradition and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to underwrite essential operating costs. We would not be able to fulfill our mission to serve as an active and vital arts center for the enrichment of the Seacoast community without this support. Thank you.
