News from the NH State Council on the Arts

It was with a mix of sadness, gratitude, and joy that we saw Ginnie Lupi, Director of the New Hampshire State Council of the Arts (NHSCA), hand over the reins to Adele Bauman this past August. Lupi had served in that role since 2014, ushering the state and The Music Hall through unusual times. You may not know Lupi but she made a positive impact in your life thanks to her tireless advocacy on behalf of New Hampshire arts organizations.

Funding for NHSCA grants and services is provided by the New Hampshire Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. The NHSCA uses these funds to stimulate economic growth through the arts, invest in the creativity of students, make the arts accessible to underserved populations, and preserve heritage arts. As the mission of The Music Hall so directly addresses these goals, the NHSCA has been a long-time funder.

We are excited to welcome Bauman, who comes to the Arts Council after 16 years at the N.H. Division of Health and Human Services, where her work focused on the youth sector, including mental health services. Participation in arts and cultural activities is closely associated with improved health and well-being, healthier aging, and stronger communities, so we are energized by the prospect of Bauman’s leadership and look forward to working with the NHSCA as we contribute to our thriving community.

The Music Hall is supported in part by a grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts & the National Endowment for the Arts.
