HERE'S TO THE THRIVING ARTS COMMUNITY! Each season seems better than the last! Grammy Award-winning artists, comedic legends, literary giants, and incredible films grace both theaters. Up-and-coming acts perform for open-minded and trusting audiences. And the community gathers like never before. We are thrilled to enhance our collaboration with the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra by making them our resident orchestra. Their mission to showcase local talent has always inspired us—this partnership couldn’t make more sense! CreativeMornings PKX is now a part of our regular programming and with that comes connections to the changing world around us through members of our community. We celebrate throughout the year by giving back to the community that gave so much to us. It’s awe-inspiring to see everyone band together to help others, whether by giving their time or by donating to one another. Fill The Hall Food Drive collects literal tons of food for Gather’s Summer Meals 4 Kids program. The School Days Series turns 25 this season, and 600 local children in need are able to attend through our scholarship program. And Annie, the classic story of a red-headed orphan, will come to life in front of hundreds of families who will see the show thanks to generous donations to Give the Gift of Magic. Going to a show at one of our theaters lends itself to a charged atmosphere, creating a space where people can come together and interact with like-minded friends and neighbors, to ultimately live their best lives. I’m so proud of this organization and what we accomplish together, and I look forward to the good we can do this coming season. After 15 years, I’ll be leaving for personal endeavors, but The Music Hall will continue to thrive with its incredibly talented Board, staff, and volunteers—I can’t wait to watch alongside all of you.

Music Hall is the place to be!

Portsmouth has always been the destination for great acts outside of Boston, and the talent that heads just a little north of the city is astounding. If you haven’t taken a chance on the discovery acts The Music Hall team brings in, it is my number one recommendation. Take advantage of the expertly curated programming and come on down! You might fall in love with a new artist, author, or director. You might find yourself dancing in your seat or out onto the street! Whenever the staff recommends a show to me, I’m there in a heartbeat to discover something new. Having served on the board for a number of years and seeing first-hand what goes on before the curtain opens, there is so much more than what meets the eye. The Board and committee members are constantly delivering and bringing in support. The expert staff of leaders and arts professionals put on outstanding events and work with the community every day. And over 300 volunteers give thousands of hours of their time to help everything run smoothly so the customers feel at home in the theater. It takes a village! Thank you to all of our donors, sponsors, members, and volunteers who enable us to put on great shows and events for the community to enjoy. Accessible restrooms are in the lower lobby. The Loft has an elevator that leads to accessible restrooms on the lower level. Both theaters: Booster cushions for children, seat & back cushions for adults, and hearing assist devices may be checked out at the Box Office. A GREEN LIGHT FOR A GREEN INITIATIVE To help protect our town, community, and Earth, we’ve been making some serious changes around here to increase our sustainability. Perhaps most notable is eliminating the use of 22,500 single-use plastic bottles a year! So far, The Music Hall has: • Transitioned from single-use, plastic straws to strawless, reusable souvenir cups • Switched to compostable straws for those who either require or prefer to use one • Replaced all drink and food containers/popcorn buckets with compostable ones • Incorporated state-of-the-art and energy-efficient lights and windows • Increased environmental awareness programming • Added composting to cut down on trash • Changed over to a soda gun system and incorporated Bluedrop Water’s fountain system, which eliminated tens of thousands of plastic bottles per year! • Swapped bottled beer to aluminum cans But we’re not done yet! We’re future-proofing, not only with a sustainable business model but also with some upgrades. Here’s what’s next: • Upgrading to a more efficient HVAC system • Switching to LED lighting for stage lights for energy efficiency • Cutting back on more environment-harming products • Eliminating our trash output • Utilizing more sustainable practices throughout The Music Hall We hope you will join us in this important endeavor to be sustainable. In 2007, the Treasure the Future campaign ushered in a new era of Music Hall history. Extensive capital improvements include the restoration of our dome and proscenium arch, the creation of the Founders Lobby, the addition of the Loft to our cultural campus, beautiful restorations of the upper lobby, and the hanging of an elegant crystal chandelier. We recently installed the arch, creating a new gateway for our theater on a completely transformed Chestnut Street, a freshened facade, and a spectacular vintage marquee. This year, we’ve begun raising funds for a number of infrastructure projects, including a new HVAC system, enhanced lighting system, and at last, a more welcoming green room and dressing rooms and flex spaces.
