Starting in August, your football fan can get the total football experience without the contact. Flag football is a sport where the emphasis is safety, speed, agility, teamwork, and precision. It is the perfect forum for players who love playing football, are just starting out or do not want to get into pads just yet. The Community House Flag Football League provides jerseys and flag sets to all players! The Recreation Supervisor will determine team selection. All efforts will be made to place players with schoolmates, however, it is not guaranteed. Team placement or coach requests are not guaranteed.

PRACTICES: Earliest practice begins is August 28 with two practices per week before games begin then one practice per week. Practice days, times, and location are chosen by volunteer coaches.

GAMES: Games begin September 9 & 10. Games may go into early November with weather cancellations. 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th graders play on Saturdays. 5th/6th and 7th/8th graders play on Sundays. Games start every hour on the hour. Schedules will be released by the end of the day Friday, August 25.

Fun with Flag Football

Ages: 5-7 years old

Are you ready for some football? Children in this nocontact class learn skills including throwing, hiking, offense/defense and flag pulling. Controlled scrimmages are played once the basic skills have been taught. Pee Wee size and Nerf footballs are used. Please bring a labeled water bottle.

Flag Football Skills Clinic

Ages: 8-12 years old

Calling all kids who are ready to hit the turf! Players will build flag football skills like catching, passing, deflagging, and offense and defense strategies in a positive and safe environment. Drills and games focus on fundamentals and field concepts as well as positions and mechanics. Please bring a labeled water bottle.

Summer Outdoor Recreational Basketball

Ages: 7-12 years old

Players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in this high-energy recreational program for budding hoops players. Boys and girls will develop their dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding and defensive skills through short skills sessions each Wednesday. The remaining time each Wednesday will involve game play that enables them to apply these skills. Youngsters will be assigned to different teams each week, and Sports Kids Inc. coaches will referee games in a teaching style. Games will be played in a respectful, positive and safe environment with an emphasis on equal participation, teamwork and sportsmanship. Whether your child is new to the game or looking to improve basketball skills, this program is the perfect way to have FUN playing hoops! Please bring a labeled water bottle.

Youth Track & Field

Ages: 7-12 years old

This class will get kids excited about exercise and teach them about track and field, one of the oldest sports that continues to grow and is highlighted by the Olympics every 4 years. Participants will learn the fundamentals involved with improving flexibility, proper stretching, body positioning, developing core-strength, improving balance, cool-down techniques and other fitness concepts as they relate to exercising and the jumping, running and throwing skills involved in the sport of track and field. Boys and girls will participate in Sharks and Minnows, Capture the Cones, and other fitness games as well as sprints, relays, long-distance walking, running hurdles, long jump, discus throw and other track and field events. Youngsters will participate in a fun-filled track and field meet on the last day of class. Please bring a labeled water bottle.

Youth Archery

Ages: 7-12 years old

Archery participants will learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics of using a recurve bow, and fundamental shooting skills in an extremely safe environment. They also will learn an excellent, nationally recognized beginner’s 9-step to the 10 ring progression which was created by the Coaches Development Committee of the National Archery Association. Both technique and games will be a part of this class. Blunt tipped arrows, bows, and targets are provided. Please bring a labeled water bottle.
