Sports — Student Athlete of the Month — Sponsored by Tim Dahle Ford Sheridan Liggett is the Tim Dahle Ford Student Athlete of the Month. Sheridan is a senior at Maple Mountain High School and finished fourth in the state of Utah in scoring (19.6 ppg) and was selected to play in the UWBCA all-star game as well as the Academic All State team for basketball. Additionally, Sheridan was the MaxPreps player of the game seven times this season, which included a 37-point game versus in-town rival Spanish Fork on Jan. 18 (she also had a near triple-double in the rematch on Feb. 8 with 26 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds). Liggett has accepted a full-ride scholarship offer from the University of Seattle. Starting at the age of 5, Sheridan wanted a basketball hoop for her birthday, and played in the Bantam league in her elementary years. When she found herself spending most of her time on the bench, her father, Scott, let her know that coaches never bench their best players. That lit the fire that hasn’t burned out. Soon after, Sheridan was waking up her dad at 5 a.m. to go to the gym to practice. That habit has continued to today with an inexhaustible energy.

As a student, Sheridan works extremely hard to keep a 4.0 GPA. History is her favorite subject, and math comes a little easy, she says, but subjects such as English really push her. She will stay up all night to finish papers if it comes down to it (she has several times). In her spare time outside of school and basketball, Sheridan is a referee for club soccer and also excels in that. Not only is Sheridan competitive and fierce, but she has a tender heart and a knack for looking outside of herself and giving attention to others, especially those who might be down and need a friend. She’s confident in who she is and being in her own skin. She's also funny and creative. Her biggest supporters she would like to thank are her parents, and three of her coaches: Coach Green at MMHS and two club coaches, Charlotte McFarland and Anita Rowland.
