Situational Analysis Recent research proposes that people, especially in the high end market, visit establishments such as bars and restaurants with the motive of networking and winding down after a hectic day.
O
ur market research has shown that people tend to flock to new pubs, restaurants and chic places for a period of one year. We feel these trends are significant in that they demonstrate how much effort has been put especially to uplift the standards of a place. We would like Club Oleng Sidai to be the talk along Kiambu road and the entire Nairobi region.
Industry Competitors In the bar and restaurant business, the main competitors are the likes of K1 Klubhouse. They have a comprehensive entertainment package from Tuesday(Jazz Nite Tuesdays) through to Friday (Barman’s Special) with each day having its signature event. They also have multiple bars to ensure patrons are well catered for, organize pool competitions with cash giveaways and have a resident DJ. The Natives Sports bar is also a competing bar. More so, as it is located along Thika Rd. They offer Karaoke on Thursdays and also have multiple counters/bars. However, s is evident, none of this clubs have any events occurring on Wednesday, which happens to be the proposed day of “ The #Network Cocktail” event.
Reasons Why Clubs Fail In the vicinity, it has come to our attention that a couple of clubs have shut down after just a few months in the industry. Upon research, we found out why; Poor Planning: Are you opening a night club in a town that is saturated with night clubs? Are there enough people in the age group and type of clientele you want to attract? You need to know your market. This is another example of reasons night clubs fail. You also need to get the demographics for your area, to see if you even have a customer base! Night clubs are like any other business. They have a targeted customer they want to attract. Atmosphere: You need to create a comfortable space. Some nooks and crannys, stuff on the wall and hanging from the ceiling. Your customers have to feel all warm and fuzzy. And you need to create this. People not feeling comfortable is another in the list of reasons night clubs fail. Management: If you are an owner and manage the night club yourself, then you have to deal with yourself. If you are going to hire a manager do your homework. There are very few GOOD night club managers out there these days. Get a professional. This person will make you money, not cost you money. They need to be able to attract good employees, train well, watch your money and inventory, create fun and excitement, and above all, treat your customers well. No Marketing Plan: For a business to succeed, the product or service it provides must be known to potential buyers. Unless your business is known in the community and have communication with your customers readily available, you have to use marketing strategies to create product or service awareness. Without marketing, your potential customers may never be aware of your business offerings and your business may not be given the opportunity to progress and succeed. Using marketing to promote your product, service and company provides your business with a chance of being discovered by prospective customers.

OTHER IDEAS To maintain the high standards we will set through “the #Network Cocktail Party” we propose the following steps: • Installation of a Point Of Sale (POS) system. Point-Of-Sale (POS) system save you money. A POS system is computer software and hardware networked together to track sales and inventory as they occur. POS systems will solve a multitude of problems in your business. The advantages of such a system are that quantities are tracked in real time hence easing stock management, improving efficiency since the effort needed to do inventory is reduced among others. • Improving the parking lot via cabro-paving. This will raise the general standard of the establishment. • Implementation of a revamped interior décor. This will give the place a posh ambiance that will attract higher end clientele. • Another bar/counter. This will ensure that any guest who prefer sitting at the counter rather than at the tables are catered for. More so, a bar will increase the sales volume of alcohol within the establishment. • General graphic design. Menus, posters and any form of print material shll e redesigned to give a more chic and modernist feel.
