Alabama Theatre

The Alabama Theatre, located at 4750 Highway 17 S, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582, is renowned for its outstanding live performances and has been a major entertainment venue in Myrtle Beach for years. Known for shows like ICONIC and The South’s Grandest Christmas Show, the theater offers a high-energy, family-friendly entertainment experience.

Students are welcome to share their talents on the theater’s stage. Choirs, small bands, and dance groups can perform for 15-20 minutes before the productions of ICONIC or The South’s Grandest Christmas Show.

Each group receives certificates of performance, and complimentary Technical Backstage Tours are available with the purchase of a show ticket. Dance and band workshops are offered for a minimum charge, with master classes customized for each group.

Band, choir, and dance workshops include a 90-minute master class tailored to your group, an instructional hour with a highly trained cast member, a backstage tour, and a photo opportunity.

Broadway Theater

Brookgreen Gardens

America’s premiere public sculpture garden and National Historic Landmark featuring artworks in breathtaking gardens and a wildlife preserve. Explore rich history while touring Sculpture Gardens, Lowcountry Center Educational Programs & Lowcountry Trails, and Zoo.

Brookgreen Gardens can effectively handle a maximum of 120 students in a group per day. Groups must maintain chaperones at a ratio of one chaperone for every ten students.

The Carolina Opry Theater

The Opry has been a staple of Myrtle Beach’s entertainment scene for nearly 40 years and continues to captivate audiences with its dynamic performances.

The theater offers a variety of youth-based programs for student groups, including dance workshops, Q&A sessions, behind-the-scenes tours, and more. Performance opportunities are available onstage, outside, or on the grand staircase in the lobby, tailored to the type, size, and date of the performance group.

Workshops can be customized to fit the group’s experience level and typically last about 60 minutes. Led by some of the industry’s top professionals, these workshops provide students with an in-depth understanding of working in the theater.

The Hangout

Wonders Theatre, is known for its captivating live performances, including magic and illusion shows. GTS Theatre

GTS Theatre is an intimate venue known for its entertaining and educational shows. It offers a variety of performances, including tribute shows and magic acts.

The theater provides a unique opportunity for choirs, small bands, dance groups, and more to perform on stage for 15-20 minutes before the main show. Due to its smaller size, the theater can accommodate groups of up to 130 people, with the possibility of scheduling additional shows for larger groups throughout the day.

GTS offers a range of educational shows where students can learn history through music, such as the Motown Tribute Show and the Elton John Tribute Show. The Sound Tracks of Soul Show covers the history of the civil rights movement and the power of song, while the Magic and Comedy Show includes a session where students can learn magic tricks from award-winning magician Michael Bairefoot.

Hopsewee Plantation

Dating back to the 1700s, Hopsewee is the birthplace of Thomas Lynch, Jr., a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Visitors can embark on an hour-long attic-to-cellar tour that delves into the rich history of the patriots and planters who lived at Hopsewee, as well as the contributions of those who worked the plantation.

In addition to the historical tours, Hopsewee offers a variety of educational opportunities. Visitors can participate in sweetgrass basket weaving classes, a traditional craft of the Gullah Geechee culture. Ghost tours provide a thrilling exploration of the plantation’s mysterious past. The historical tour offers a comprehensive educational experience that enriches the understanding of South Carolina’s heritage.

Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre

The Music & Memories show features offers a concert-like atmosphere with a selection of songs and comedy that students will recognize and love to sing along to. Legends in Concert

Legends in Concert is renowned for its live tribute shows, featuring incredibly realistic performances by talented artists impersonating famous celebrities. The show brings to life the music and moves of iconic performers, offering an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.

Legends provides customized experiences for student groups, including sports, cheerleading, dance, band, and choir groups. Opportunities include performances, Q&A sessions with a staff panel, and workshops. Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament

Medieval Times welcomes the talents of choral, band, dance, cheerleaders, and more for any group attending the student educational matinee or dinner show. All performances must be coordinated with the Group Sales Manager at least two weeks in advance of the show date.

Performance times are limited, performance details are required, and performances may take place outside (weather permitting) or inside, depending on the size of the group. Group photos are optional and available at an additional charge. Certificates of performance are available upon request during the finalization of the reservation.

Educational opportunities include daytime matinee shows exclusively for school groups, focusing on the code of chivalry and its relevance to modern-day life. The history of knights, horsemanship, chivalry, and life in the 11th century are woven into live, action-packed jousting, swordplay, and medieval games of skill. This interactive educational experience is designed to be treasured by students. Evening and weekend performances also offer a great addition to any Myrtle Beach itinerary.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, known for providing an exciting and family-friendly baseball experience. The Pelicans are proud to welcome all performance groups to perform before a game. They offer one 5-minute pregame performance, one group to perform the National Anthem, and one 5-minute postgame performance per game. All performance events must be coordinated with the Group Sales Department at least two weeks in advance of the game date.

Ripley’s Aquarium

WonderWorks

Experience upside-down adventure! WonderWorks is an indoor amusement park for the mind with 50,000 square feet of “edu-tainment”. The attraction combines education and entertainment with more than 100 hands-on exhibits that challenge the mind and spark the imagination.

Visit Murrells Inlet Cruises

Pirate Adventure of Murrells Inlet

Designed for Grades K-2, this 90-minute experience meets curriculum standards set forth by the state of South Carolina.

The adventure transforms students into exploration pirates! The first 30 minutes are spent on land with the Pirate Crew, preparing for the journey.

Students receive face paint and a treasure-hunting vest to wear while onboard. The group then sails on the Sea Gypsy for an hour, working together using a map to find sunken treasure.

Saltwater Marsh Eco Tour

For Grades 3 through 12, this tour meets curriculum standards set forth by the state of South Carolina in the areas of Science, Biology, and Marine Biology. On this excursion, students explore Murrells Inlet and its beautiful saltwater marsh estuary. The group boards the Explorer and embarks on a two-hour journey with a naturalist onboard.

Students learn about the South Carolina Coast and Marsh area while engaging hands-on with crabs, snails, pufferfish, sea urchins, jellyfish, and more. The experience includes a live demonstration featuring Blue Crabs and a sample dredge from the creek bed, directly into the touch tank for observation and interaction.

Morning

Breakfast at hotel - Enjoy a hearty, complimentary breakfast at your host hotel filled with tasty options like bacon, sausage, eggs and southern treats like biscuits and gravy.

Take an Eco-Tour - Discover local wildlife with a Myrtle Beach Eco Tour. Explore Murrells Inlet and its beautiful saltwater marsh estuary as your group enjoys the tranquil waters, bird watching and observing the underwater sea life with a naturalist.

There’s also a shelling cruise where you can disembark onto the beach and dune area searching for local treasures and shells.

Explore Huntington Beach State Park - This is a great place to ride bikes, walk, swim, and relax on the pristine beaches.

Explore the nature center where you can join a field trip led by staff educators or explore the historic Atalaya castle. You may even be lucky enough to see alligators!

Fishing, boating, bird watching are also fun activities that you can do at Huntington Beach State Park in Murrells Inlet.

Enjoy lunch at Murrells Inlet MarshWalk - Some of the area’s finest restaurants are located along the waterfront here and offer everything from burgers and fries to prepared-to-order fresh seafood, wood-fired pizzas, and great steaks. Check out spots like Dead Dog Saloon, Drunken Jack’s or Wicked Tuna for great food here.

Grab a round of mini-golf - We are known as “The Golf Capital of the World” because of its 90+ golf courses and more than 30 miniature golf courses.

Treat your group to a round of putt-putt at Captain Hook’s Mini Golf and enjoy 18 holes of pirate-themed fun and a little healthy competition.

Fly High Above Downtown - The iconic Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is a one-of-a-kind experience that will wow visitors of all ages. Fly high on the nearly 200-foot-tall wheel and get a unique perspective on Myrtle Beach’s oceanfront downtown area.

Take in a Dinner Show - What’s better than a great meal at The Beach? A great meal at the beach with exciting live entertainment at one of our dinner shows!

Experience the swashbuckling fun of Pirates Voyage — a show filled with acrobatics, diving, animals and action — or transport back to the days of knights, jousts, and sword fights with a trip to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament.

Hang out at the hotel - Some of the best moments of a group trip are the ones spent having downtime with your friends and classmates. Enjoy a “quiet” evening at the hotel and bond over board games, grab a late-night snack or just hang out by the pool.

Grab a Sweet Treat - Wind down your day with a trip to a local ice cream parlor or shake shop. Your group is sure to flip for fun concoctions from the many stops on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk or an outrageous milkshake from The Crazy Mason.

Breakfast at The Beach - Of course, the easiest way to fuel your day is the free breakfast options at your hotel, but if you’re looking to splurge a little, can branch out to one of the area’s many buffets, sure to fill up even the hungriest teens.

Explore The Beach - After breakfast, burn off a little energy with some free time on our sandy shores. Let your group relax, play games and dip their toes in the Atlantic Ocean or create some fun team-building activities to be done oceanfront.

Hands-On Learning Experiences - Dive into educational opportunities for students with a group session at one of The Beach’s top attractions. Places such as Ripley’s Aquarium, Medieval Times and Wonderworks offer immersive learning experiences, while theaters like Alabama Theatre, The Carolina Opry, Legends in Concert, Broadway Theater and GTS Theatre, also offer performance workshops and technical tours.

Lunch at Broadway - Depart for Broadway at the Beach, where students can do lunch on their own or together at one of the restaurants. There are 22 awesome eateries to choose from, but a few that are especially welcoming for student groups include The Hangout, Hard Rock Café and Dave & Busters.

Unique Ways to Learn - There are tons of great things to see at Broadway at the Beach, including a pair of outstanding museums which will transport your students to another world. Ripley’s Aquarium takes you under the sea with tons of fun and educational opportunities and underwater adventures —plus a brand-new sloth habitat! Wonderworks explores the world of STEM education with tons of interactive exhibits that will wow visitors of all ages.

Enjoy a Show - Also located at Broadway at the Beach are several places to see some of the best entertainment around. Check out classic musical hits with a trip to Legends in Concert or Broadway Theater, experience mind-boggling magic at Charles Bach Wonders Theatre or take an immersive trip through Springfield at the Simpsons in 4D Theater.

Seafood Dinner - No trip to The Beach is complete without trying some fresh-caught coastal seafood. There are tons of great options to enjoy, but a few group-friendly spots we’d recommend include: Giant Crab, Original Benjamins, Seafood World, Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s North Myrtle Beach, Bubba’s Fish Camp & Smokehouse and Riptydz Oceanfront Grille & Rooftop Bar.

Jump around - It’s big fun for all ages when you host a group outing at either Big Air Trampoline Park or Sky Zone Myrtle Beach. Indoor Family Fun - Wrap up your day with fun for all ages at indoor attractions like 810 Billiards & Bowling at The Market Common or Stars & Strikes Family Entertainment Center — an all-new complex at Coastal Grand Mall.
