The Dyer Police Department and Dyer Fraternal Order of Police #169 teamed up with Frankie’s Auto Sales of Dyer and Walmart to assist making Christmas brighter for many children. Frankie’s, Walmart and several private donors contributed funds to buy Christmas presents this year for Dyer Area families. Dyer officers shopped with several Dyer families at Walmart on December 15th and also delivered presents to Campagna Academy of Schererville and St. Monica Home of Franciscan St. Margaret Hospital of Dyer. The FOP #169 also sent money to Kokomo, Indian Fraternal Order of Police to assist with the tornado damaged area families. This is an annual program sponsored by Dyer Police and Dyer FOP #169.

Last Chance to Contribute The South Suburban College Foundation (SSCF) 2013 Scholarship Donor Drive is nearing its end. The SSCF is seeking yearend giving from all donors to help make a difference in the lives of residents seeking t heir college educat ion. This suppor t provides scholarship assistance each year to many students who otherwise would be unlikely to begin or complete their college education. One-hundred percent (100%) of Donor Drive donations benefit scholarship and student assistance funds. Whether it is a h ig h school g raduate, a n u nemployed resident looking for a career change, or a single parent pursuing their college degree for the first time, the SSC Foundation offers scholarship assistance to all students in need. Helping students achieve their college dream can give them the tools to improve their lives and their communities. Scholarship opportunities are critical for SSC students. Many are struggling to balance family, employment, and school

responsibilities while they are often unable to receive Financial Aid. The majority of SSC scholarship recipients do not qualify for any other type of financial assistance. Scholarship money is provided primarily through this fall Donor Drive. All scholarship contributions to the SSCF are 100% tax-deductible (TIN: 23- 7191736). The SSCF staff works cooperatively with individuals and organizations to develop a donor plan of any level. New scholarships can also be established with a $750 donation. Donations may be made online at www.ssc. edu/foundation, via PayPal to foundation@ ssc.edu or mailed to: SSC Foundation 15800 S. State Street South Holland, IL 60473 The SSCF once aga in awa rded over $100,000 in total awards in 2013, and has now awarded over $1.5 million since 1987. For more information, please contact the Foundation Office at (708) 596-2000, ext. 2697 or foundation@ssc.edu.

As we transition together, I’d like to encourage us to take a few minutes to reflect upon the gifts we are receiving here in this great place we call “home,” South Holland, Illinois. For in 2013, God has clearly provided the gift of a safer and more vibrant community. He has blessed us to live, work, worship and recreate as part of a Village where we are exercising our Faith and emphasizing and demonstrating Family values in the process. Here in South Holland we are celebrating and prioritizing like no other community the gift of diversity. We are continually witnessing the opening of many new gifts of economic development opportunities and anxious to initiate, prepare, and actively engage in our Vision 2022 plan to realize what we have yet to experience in our Future. Indeed some gifts are seen and some unseen. As we reflect this season upon the truths of Scripture, though we cannot see for ourselves the angels pronounce “For unto you is born this day a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” and though we cannot see the great “Star in the East” that lead Wise men to follow Jesus, nonetheless we can rejoice with them in the giving of God’s greatest gift to us, given as the ultimate expression by One who loves us more than we can ever imagine. It is in that spirit of gratitude we receive God’s greatest gift of the Christ child, one who humbled himself by taking on the form of a servant for you and me. In this example of humility, may we continue to rejoice in our mission, celebrate our unity, and grow in our uniqueness as the Village of South Holland, always depending upon and looking forward to what God has in store for us.

Strategic Planning for a Prosperous Life www.myshopper.biz/columnists/

Life Coaching DEE COLLINS Duna mis Woma n & R . A .M. Empowerment Segment: The choices that women make can determine the choices that men make. Why is this? Because often times the task of making critical decisions is more difficult for men due to their life changing effects. What comes to mind when you hear the word “critical” being used? Perhaps “serious” or “matter of life and death” or even “urgency” and these are only a few! Critical decisions often result either life or death, and sometimes men t hin k t hat t hey ca n have both. On the other hand, women are forced to make critically decisions more often, because of the mountain of responsibilities that ends up falling in our laps. Nevertheless, consider that for all the critical decisions that women make intentionally, there are also decisions t hat we m a ke for men c ompletel y unintentionally. For instance, when we co-habitat with a man before marriage, it inhibits him from ma k ing t he life changing decision of committing to the relationship via marriage. They choose to play it safe, because we allow them to. Women, we must take ownership of our inabilities and fears, which inhibit us from making vital choices. The Lord t hy God admonishes ever yone. This includes both men and women, and he asks us to choose life/good or death/ evil. But, you must choose! The Lord a lso tells us if you do not ma ke t he choice, the choice will be made for you. Choosing to ignore this critical decision is actually a decision all in itself, and surely this choice will breed destruction. predominantly headed (80%) by women; and they are manifestations of our lack of critical choices, as well as men’s fear to take responsibilities for their behaviors. Women, we must be cognizant of not giv ing up our pea rls to soon, which sends a message of disrespect. How can we expect a man respect us, when we make actions that indicate that we do not respect or value ourselves. For men and women to take our homes and communities back from t he hand of destruction would be to take our power back! No longer can we let the fears in our lives make critical decisions for us which are destructive, and do not follow the choices that the Lord teaches us to make. The year 2014 is another chance carved into time which was given to you. Use it to take your power back via making critical choices. You might ask: Where should I go from here? W hat should I leave behind? Who do I eliminate from my life? When is the right time to make certain cha nges? These questions a re easier asked that answered. They require critical decisions, because they are a matter of life or death. However, these decisions have been prolonged, and have become quite necessary in order for you to experience changes in your life. Making them can cause prayers to be answered, ma ke your dreams a reality, and your divine destiny to be reached. Dee Speaks…You Think! Restoration Ministries Creates Special Toy Store More than 130 families shopped for Christmas gifts for their children and grandchildren at Restoration Ministries’ 20th annual Christmas Toy Store held on December 17. At the Toy Store, parents and grandparents who would otherwise struggle to give their children Christmas presents purchased brand new toys at reduced and affordable prices. Donated toys that normally cost anywhere between $5.00 and $75.00 are priced between $1.00 and $5.00. Schools, businesses, churches and individuals collected over 2,000 toys. It took dedicated volunteers two days to sort and tag the toys and set-up the store. Volunteers were on hand at the Toy Store to gift-wrap all the purchases and students from Calvary Academy and Calvin Christian Schools in South Holland and Southwest Christian Schools helped shoppers find just the right toys for their children. Restoration Ministries started the Christmas Toy Store in 1993 to fulfill its mission of giving a hand-up rather than a hand out. Athlete’s Feet

Athlete’s feet is caused by a fungus which is commonly found associated with the feet. It is characterized by a burning or itching of the sole of the foot or between two toes. Many times the skin appears very moist but can also appear dry with peeling skin. It usually begins as small brown blisters with clear yellowish liquid inside. These usually turn darker when peeled to reveal red, sometimes raw skin. Prescription medications are many times needed to control the disease. If you have any questions concerning athlete’s feet or any other foot problems, please stop by or call my office during office hours.

GOD WITH US

(from our readers)

ANNA M. CAISON We c o n t i n u e w i t h C h r i s t m a s Memories from our readers w ith the following two submissions. (1) Isaiah 9:6, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and t he gover n ment sha l l be upon H is shoulder. His na me sha ll be ca lled Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. I learned from a child what Christmas really means and why we are happy to exchange gifts. John 3:16 plainly tells us God loved us so much that He gave us the best gift anyone could receive, eternal life. It is not a physical gift, but a spiritual one that could never be destroyed or replaced. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Christmas means to me “the JOY of the Lord” which is my strength, the PEACE of God which passeth all understanding. Let us all remember we can do without the “mas” but we cannot do w ithout Christ. He is our hope of glory. – Ruth Stewart (2) Growing up, I loved our family tradition of sitting around the Christmas tree. We chose one night sometime before Christmas to curl up on the couch or recliners and gaze at our beautiful, For sale: Graco, harmony high chair. bright tree. With all other lights except for ca nd les ex t ing uished, we rested our eyes on the illuminated treasury of carefully placed ornaments—old friends rediscovered every year. “Our best tree yet!” someone would often remark. As a choir caroled from the record player, my heart seemed to grow quiet, open, expectant. Something captivated me about those little lights with their pointed brilliance caught in the dark evergreen boughs. Pine needle shadows in pink, blue, and yellow swatches of light etched the low ceiling of our trailer with a texture like the rush of angel wings. Stillness and wonder danced in sparks of tinsel. Together we watched and listened. For a few stolen moments, our night became silent and holy. I like to think now that the wonder I felt as a child watching the Christmas tree truly fills Christmas and brims over the top. Just think---God With Us---a newborn baby, wrinkled, red, and new! Who would have ever imagined? Physicians Urgent Care Expands To Serve Highland Community Recently, Physicians Urgent Care celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art clinic in Highland with members of the Highland Chamber of Commerce. Providing area residents a convenient solution to their urgent and unexpected health care needs, the new 3,300 square-foot clinic at 10343 Indianapolis Boulevard (in front of Target) is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. The walk-in clinic is fully equipped with X-ray capability, lab testing and seven exam rooms -- including a pediatric room and a trauma room -for treating non-life threatening injuries and illnesses and performing minor surgical procedures. “Questions about health concerns can create a lot of anxiety. People worry about things like ‘Is it a virus?,’ ‘Do I need stitches?’ or ‘Is it broken?’” said Dr. Nicholas Apostolopoulos, the on-site physician at Physicians Urgent Care in Highland. “Some injuries and illnesses just can’t wait. When someone in Highland can’t get into their family doctor and it isn’t severe enough for the ER, we’re here to help.” “We’re excited to add our fifth clinic this year in Indiana with a fantastic location in Highland which is convenient for area residents and businesses,” said Stan Blaylock, CEO of Physicians Urgent Care. “Our patients count on us for remarkable care, long hours and ideal locations.

Lake County residents who are uninsured, Physicians Urgent Care openly publishes a three-tiered pricing plan online with set rates so patients know what to expect without worrying about billing surprises. Open seven days a week, Physicians Urgent Care also helps thousands of businesses control their health care costs, treating injuries that happen at work and handling drug or alcohol testing and pre-employment physicals. Physicians Urgent Care, the tenth largest private urgent care provider in the nation*, has been serving employers in just about every industry for over 25 years. Convenience also means great online and mobile tools that make health care easier to use and more transparent.” At visitphysicians.com/highland, Highland-area patients can see current wait times and check in online before arriving, and they can learn more about the education and certifications of the physicians and physician assistants. Plus, they can see what insurance is accepted. For the 17% of

Real Estate Questions & Answers CATHY & JIM HIGGINS Question: We put a contract on a Home, and gave a good faith promise of $1000. We were told it would be held and not cashed. Now we have found out it was cashed and put in escrow. Should the broker have cashed t his check even though our loan has not been approved yet? Answer: When a real estate bid is made it typically includes a written offer, a deposit and, usually, a loan “pre-approval” letter from a lender. The pu r pose of t he deposit is to compensate the seller if the buyer does not go through with the agreement -- for instance, if the buyer does not apply for a loan. As to a pre-approval letter from a lender, it is generally evidence that a buyer has met with a loan officer and that the loan officer believes that the buyer will qualify for a given amount of financing. However, a pre-approval letter is not an Danbury mint 1/24” scale diecast metal model-T, new in box $40; diecast metal model-T 1/24” scale w/tool sheath by Gearbox $18. 708333-7432 Ladies Xmas sweater, navy blue size L $10; new girls jacket, Chestnut color suede, $35; ladies hooded XL jacket, $15. 708-460-8308 Bears tank top shirt, $15; ladies lite pink 2-pc outfit, used once, $25; peak full strength anti-freeze gal., $12. 708-460-8308

absolute loan commitment because the lender needs to check such items as the buyer’s income, property’s title, survey, etc. It may be that the broker said the $1000 would not be placed in escrow until the offer was accepted. If your offer was accepted, then the broker would be obligated to make a deposit unless the offer included language to the contrary. The deposit should be placed in the broker’s “escrow” or trust account and not co-mingled with the broker’s money. The True Light Every year as Christmas approaches, we see a great assortment of lights that are used for decoration and display. Some people set up elaborate illuminated Christmas scenes on their lawns, and use such vast quantity of lights that others will make long journeys just to view these spectacular displays. There is only one reason. They are attracted tot he light. Over 2000 years ago some men came from the east that followed a bright light which led them to the Savior. Their focus wa son the star until they found the young child, and then they focused on him. He was the true Light, with lights every man that comes into the world. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Today, many people have set their gaze on other lights, not just at Christmastime but all year round. They are sometimes dazzled by the light this world has to offer. Wo o d e n r o c k e r h o r s e . Varnished decorated with painted details, Fluffy tail and ears. Head 25” high. But the brightness that the world offers is not the “true light.” It merely serves to distract us and divert our attention from the true Light - Jesus Christ. He alone can shine within man and give him life and direction. Worldly light, no matter how great, can never satisfy men’s hearts and fill them with lasting peace, joy and satisfaction. Only the Lord Jesus can; He is the light of life. When we follow him, we won’t stumble in the darkness. And we won’t get caught up in all the pitfalls and dead ends that the world offers. Instead, we will see clearly so that we may live our lives for God and help others to walk in his light. So this Christmas and all year long, let us keep our focus on the “true light” - Christ the Lord. And let us be a reflection of His light and love so those who may be sitting in darkness will be attracted to the light and be filled with God’s light as well. by Pete Tassio, The King’s Community Church

Make regular blood donation a New Year’s resolution With the beginning of a new year comes a fresh start. New Year’s resolutions are often made to form good habits and reach new goals. This New Year’s, the American Red Cross encourages people to resolve to help patients in need through regular blood donations. As the winter season continues, blood donations are especially needed. Donations typically decline this time of year, as many regular donors are impacted by inclement weather and seasonal illnesses. There is no better resolution to make this New Year’s than to help save lives with the Red Cross. Give the gift of life and help give patients another year with their loved ones. Financial Advice Column

Financial Resolutions for the New Year BOB KRYGSHELD About 45% of Americans usually make New Year’s resolutions, according to a survey from the University of Scranton. But the same survey shows that only 8% of us actually k e ep ou r r e s olut ion s . Perhaps this low success rate isn’t such a tragedy w hen ou r r e s olut ion s involve things like losing a little weight or learning a foreign language. But when we make financial resolutions — resolutions that, if achieved, could significantly help us in our pursuit of our important long-ter m goa ls — it’s cle a rl y w or t hw h i le to make every effort to follow through. So, w hat sor t s of financial resolutions might you consider? Here are a few possibilities: • Boost your contributions to your retirement plans . Each year, try to put in a little more to your IR A and your 401(k) or other e m p l o y e r- s p o n s o r e d retirement plans. These tax-advantaged accounts a r e g o o d opt ion s f or your retirement savings strategy. • Reduce you r debt s . It’s not a lways easy to reduce your debts, but make it a goal to finish 2014 with a smaller debt load than you had going into the new year. The lower your monthly debt pay ments, t he more money you’ll have to invest for ret i rement, col lege for y ou r c h i ld r en (or grandchildren) and other important objectives. • Build your emergency fund . Work on building a n “emer genc y f u nd” conta i n i ng si x to 12 months’ worth of living expenses, with the money held in a liquid account that offers a high degree of preservation of principal. W it hout such a f u nd, you might be forced to dip into your long-term invest ments to pay for emergencies, such as a new furnace, a major car repair, and so on. You might not be able to finish creating your emergency fund in one year, but contribute as much as you can afford.

• Plan for your protection n e e d s . I f y ou d on’t already have the proper a mou nt s of l i fe a nd disabilit y insura nce in place, put it on your “To Do” list for 2014. Also, if you haven’t taken steps to protect yourself from the considerable costs of long-term care, such as an extended nursing home stay, consult w ith your f i na ncia l professiona l, w ho c a n s u g g e s t t he appropr iate protect ion or investment vehicles. You may never need such care, but that’s a chance you may not want to take — and the longer you wait, the more expensive your protection options may become. • Don’t overreact to market volatility. Too many people head to the investment “sidelines” during market downturns. But if you’re not invested, t hen you miss any potential market gains— and the biggest gains are often realized at the early stages of the rally. • Focus on the long term. You can probably check your investment balance on l i n e , w h ic h m e a n s you can do it every day, or even several times a day — but should you? If you’re following a strategy that’s appropriate for your needs, goals, risk tolerance and time horizon, you’re already doing what you should be doing in the long run. So there’s no need to stress yourself over the shor t-ter m movement s t hat show up i n you r investment statements. Do whatever you can to turn these New Year’s resolutions into realities. Your efforts could pay off well beyond 2014. This article was written by Edward Jones for use by your local Edward Jones Fina ncia l Adv isor. What’s Your Big Idea? KEVIN BRADLEY Shopper a nd Pa rk P ress fou nder, A lon z o K a l leme y n w a s ba rely into his teens when he volunteered to help serve Chr ist mas dinner to needy people at a mission dow ntow n. Visiting the d i lapidated bu i ld ing for t he f i r st t i me, he discovered t he ma n in charge shivering in a cold corner at his wit’s end. The half frozen man asked, “C-c-can I help you, son?” Alonzo replied, “Sir, I have come to volunteer to help serve the Christmas dinner to the homeless.” The man replied, “S-ssorr y son…we have not been receiv ing ma ny donations this year. I don’t know if there will be any Christmas dinner. I can’t even pay for the heat or the rent.” A lonzo told the ma n not to wor r y. He wou ld t a ke c a re of it, not k now i ng how, but believing in his ability to do so. He believed there was good in the hearts of ma n k i nd. T hey just needed a little reminding. He a lso bel ieved i n Ch r ist ma s mag ic, t hat m i r a c le s w er e i nde e d capable of occurring at this time of year. Leaving the mission, he passed a print shop. “Eureka,” he thought, and proceeded to go in and ask to have thousands of copies of f lyers made up asking for donations for the mission, describing t he good work t hey do and telling of their dire financial straits. In order to pay for t he f l y er s, A lonzo of fered to work for the printer for the next three months. Alonzo then spent the entire evening delivering the f lyers in a

terrible snowstorm. He delivered the last f lyer after daybreak. An elderly lady, face wrinkled and back hunched with age, but w it h pierci ng sparkly youthful eyes met him at the door, offering him a bag full of “magical” Christmas cook ies, which Alonzo gratefully accepted. He was quite famished by then, and had a weakness for homemade cookies. A lon zo ate a couple cookies and immediately felt invigorated. He made a snowman, then another and another, and another, placing a cook ie in the mouth of each snowman. As he did, the snowman would magically come to life and help him make yet more snowmen. Alonzo assembled his a r my of snow men a nd armed them with snowshovels. They then went door to door cle a r i ng sidewalks and driveways, collect ing cash to save t he m ission. W hen a l l was said and done, they had a ma s se d a pret t y penny. By the time Alonzo reached the mission with t h e p r o c e e d s , p e op l e from all across the city were f lood i ng i n w it h donat ions, solicited by Alonzo’s f lyers, eliciting within him the desire to one day become a printer himself, a desire which eventually bloomed into a business, a business still run by three of his sons. Doing what’s right to help others can lead you to discover what’s right for yourself as well. Believing i n m i r a c le s i nc r e a s e s your odds of experiencing one. Treasured Letters From The Past MARJORIE ALICE DEVRIES

Sweetheart darling, Here’s your favorite little boy again, honey, writing to the sweetest mommy in the world. I haven’t had a chance to write to you since the twent y-third ‘cause I’ve been pretty busy. W h a t ’s th a t ? T h e surprise? Well, just look at the return address on the envelope from this letter and you’ll know. Yep, your d a d dy i s now a master sergeant. I’ve got the job Al Jensen had—battalion sergeant major—which makes me the highest ranking enlisted man in the whole outfit. Are you prou d of m e , darling? You’d better be, or else I’ll pound lumps on you when I get back home!

Al is now a warrant of f ic er ( ju st lik e Emil Bucher) and is working in our personnel section. I’ve been working on this job for quite awhile, but it was impossible to give me the rating until Al got his new one, because you’re not allowed to have two sergeant majors. Therefore, Mrs. Buetow, in the future address your mail to M/Sgt R.N. Buetow, see? I’ll make about thirty dollars more a month than I was making before, which isn’t bad at all. The night before last I finally took a couple of hours off and went to the show. We had a U.S.O. show here and they put on “Junior Miss”, a three act play, and it was very good. I’d love to have had you sitting here beside me seeing it, ‘cause I know you’d have enjoyed the show and I’d have found it much more enjoyable with you by my side. To be continued next week… Marjorie Alice DeVries is a f reela nce w r iter devoted to sha ring t he priceless treasure of war letters, each one a unique w indow into a life that once was. It’s that time of year when surprises lurk from every corner. Hopefully, good surprises, like…from under the Christmas tree. Bob (Sg t. Rober t Buetow) had a surprise for his wife that he revealed i n a le t t er t o her on Saturday, May 26, 1945. It wasn’t Christmastime, but it su re was a n ice surprise! And by the way, the surprise isn’t that she’s rea lly not his mommy. She’s not. He just calls her that for fun. Or some reason like that. He belonged to the 54th Armored Field Artiller y Batta lion in W W II, stationed in Germany:

AN SIDING & GUTTER C I R AME NOW IS THE TIME TO GIVE YOUR

BRANDI SMITS Forg ive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick L eona rd Peacock i s done tr y ing. He’s over t r y i ng to f it i n. He’s t ired of being ig nored. Now, on his eighteent h birthday, he has decided to end it for good. Using h is g ra nd fat her’s P-38, a g u n u s e d by Na z i s, Leonard plans on killing that just himself, but his ex best f r iend. Before he can continue on with h i s pla n, he w a nt s to present the three people who he considers friends with a special gift. The first friend is an elderly chain-smoking neighbor named Walt with whom Leona rd watches ever y Humphrey Bogart movie e v e r m a de . T he t w o ca r r y on conversat ions comprised completely of dialogue from the films. W it h no f at her a nd a mother whose career in fa sh ion desig n t r u mps even her son’s eighteenth bi r t h d a y, Wa l t i s t h e closest thing Leonard has to fa m i ly. The second friend in Leonard’s trio is a classmate named Baback. The relationship between the two is based solely on Baback’s violin practice, which Leonard has taken to ob s er v e u n i nv it e d . T he f i n a l re c ipient of L e on a r d’s g i f t s i s h i s teacher, Herr Silverman. Herr Silverman teaches a class on the Holocaust and encourages his students to consider difficult and

ethical questions. Leonard did not come to t he decision to end his life lightly. He made sure to leave indications to his plan like cutting off his hair. Also, a simple ment ion of “Happy Birthday” could be enough for Leonard to postpone his final act. He would cut school and dress up in a suit and tie and hang around the train station, searching for anyone who appeared to be happy as an adult. It was at the t ra i n stat ion where he met Lauren, a religious homeschooled girl who spent her time handing out religious tracts written by her father, a minister. Leonard realizes that there is no one who can give himself purpose. Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock is t he most t r ut h f u l book on teen suicide that I have ever read. Quick, known for his popular adult novel Silver Linings Playbook, shoves t he reader deep into Leonard’s head. His use of footnotes allows the reader to become privy to even more opinions and thoughts. It’s evident that Leonard is truly struggling with this choice; should he k i l l h i msel f or not? Quick uses the supporting cha rac ter s to voc a l i z e t he doubts to L eona rd in hopes of prevent ing t he deat hs. Forg ive Me, Leonard Peacock is emotional, powerful, and real. I cannot recommend it enough.

‘Twas the night... MIKE BUDER This poem is a parody of a well know Christmas poem in our culture. It was sent to me without an author. When I Google searched for an author, I fou nd severa l people online staking claim to it ... So I wish to share it with you but I will simply pr e s e nt it a s “A ut hor Unknown”... ‘Twas t he n ig ht before Jesus ca me a nd a l l through the house, Not a creature was praying, not one in the house. Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care, In hopes that Jesus would not come there. The children were dressing to crawl into bed. Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head. And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap, Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap. W hen out of t he E a st there arose such a clatter. I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash! W hen what to my wondering eyes shou ld a pp e a r, But a n ge l s procla im ing t hat Jesus was here. With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray, I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY! The light of His face made me cover my head, It was Jesus! returning just like He had said. And though I possessed world ly w isdom a nd wealth, I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself. In the Book of Life which He held in His hand, Was written the name of every saved man.

He spoke not a word as He searched for my name; W hen He sa id “it’s not here” my head hung in shame. The people whose names had been w r it ten w it h love, He gathered to take to His Father above. W it h t ho s e w ho w er e ready He rose without a sound. While all the rest were left standing around. I fell to my knees, but it was too late; I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate. I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight; Oh, if on ly I had been ready tonight. In the words of this poem the meaning is clear; The coming of Jesus is drawing near. There’s only one life and when comes the last call, We’ll find that the Bible was true after all! A s w e p onde r t h i s poem, I pr ay most of a l l t hat you f ind Jesus a nd t he peace t hat He gives. There are so many things wonderful about Ch r ist ia n it y... we have a Savior... we have been sent a Holy Spirit to guide us... and we have a God who loves us and wants us to love others, more than we love ourselves. Even if we face ridicule for saying these words, we care enough to face it so that if one soul would be touched, all the ridicule would not matter at all. There is no way to battle aga i nst love. Let t here truly be Peace on Earth and Good Will to Man ... Merry Christmas! Mike Buder A local Christian Businessman
