庆祝中国农历新年, 亚裔各族共聚同贺 (本报记者:Julie Zhu 供稿,供图) 2022 年 2 月 7 日晚 6 时,由迈阿 密大学亚裔美国学生协会(AASA)和 中国学生与学者协会(CSSA)联合举 办的第 10 届农历新年庆祝活动在迈 阿密大学的湖畔露台举行。众多迈阿 密大学生参与庆典,共享这一传统节 日带来的吉祥与祝福。 本次活动得到了大迈阿密亚裔商 务联盟(GMABC)、南佛罗里达印度专 业人士网络(NeHP)、佛罗里达亚洲服 务(FAS)、佛罗里达州亚裔协会南 佛罗里达分会(OCA)、佛罗里达南 部地区亚裔美国联合会(AAFF)、亚 洲加勒比海地区交流中心(ACETalk) 以及迈阿密戴德县亚裔美国人顾问委 员会的大力支持。 活动当晚,首先由 Dr. Whitely 开场致辞,随后便是精彩纷呈的节目 表演:中国传统舞狮,三只颜色各异 的狮子神态呆萌,将会场气氛推上高 潮;武术表演,向在场观众展现了中 国传统武术的魅力;中国学生与学者 协会推出的年轻歌手和说唱乐手的表

(Reported By AASA)The Asian American Students Association (AASA) and Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) at the University of Miami hosted its 10th annual Lunar New Year Celebration on February 7th, 2022 from 6PM-9:00 PM. T h i s y e a r ’s L u n a r N e w Ye a r Celebration was the first celebration of its kind since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic back in 2020. This year, an estimated 700 attended to celebrate the Year of the Tiger, one of the twelve Zodiac animals. Guests were first greeted and delighted by traditional red envelopes and candy giveaways. The event offered activity tents, food, games,

and performances. Activities included traditional calligraphy, board games, and art hosted by 7 Asian affiliated student organizations. Dinner included traditional dumplings, sushi, noodles, boba tea, and more by the vendors Sushi Maki, Chef Tian, and Miu’s Tea. Distinguished university official Dr. Patrica Whitely opened the show portion of the festival with a resounding message of solidarity and allyship to celebrate this important holiday. The hosts Summer Xia and Ann Sia continued this message by emphasizing the need of strength and cultural celebration against a time ofl xenophobia for the Asian community. Summer and Ann would later also

emphasize the educational value of this event to celebrate cultures of various countries and territories like mainland China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. The later part of the night featured performances by student and professional performers. The professional groups of “Lee Koon Hung Lions” and “Fushu Daiko” electrified the stage with their lion dances and traditional drum performances. Student dance groups of “Love of Chinese Korean and Eastern Dances” and “VDance” showed modern dance takes to represent the strength of the lion. Musical performances were

The sponsor organizations of the Asian American Advisory Board of Miami Dade County (Joshua Ho), OCA National Center (Winnie Tang), NetHP (Fareida Rajkumar), Greater Miami Asian Business Coalition (GMABC) (Jim Yu), and Intensive English program (Amanda Yousef-Little) also all presented, emphasizing educational and advocacy opportunities for Asian students in the local South Florida area.
