You’ll learn how tinkering, making, and engineering are related and how each has an important role in the early childhood setting.

FREE Power to the Profession Boot Camp

This workshop will provide a detailed and in-depth look at the new NAEYC Accreditation model for early learning programs. We recommend registrants have detailed knowledge or experience with the four-step process and accreditation criteria.

Completing the NAEYC Higher Education Accreditation Process A Workshop for Higher Education Faculty This workshop will focus on the NAEYC Professional Preparation standards. It will be especially helpful for those who are writing self-study reports, meeting annual reporting requirements, or responding to conditions.

Using Powerful Interactions with Adults to Promote Children’s Learning and Success We will explore the principles of a Powerful Interactions stance and participants will practice strategies for using Powerful Interactions with adults.

Atlanta, Georgia Atlanta is a large and vibrant American city that is also full of southern charm and hospitality. Venture down to the “Capital of the New South” with NAEYC, and you’ll leave wanting more!

The legendary sunshine and pleasant climate of Atlanta will entice you to dive deep into the city’s rich history. But where to start? Why not head over to the birthplace of Martin Luther King, Jr.? Two blocks of Auburn Avenue are protected as a National Historic Site where you can enjoy the “I Have a Dream” World Peace Rose Garden, see King’s birth home, and learn more about this historic point in time. The Atlanta History Center is another beautiful destination where you can take in the city’s rich backstory firsthand. Wander through historic gardens, exhibitions on Atlanta’s past, historic homes, and much more! Afterwards, head over to the Fox Theatre (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), a beloved landmark since its construction in the 1920s. The Fox Theatre still hosts many shows and events, so take a look at what’s going on while you’re there!

There are endless things to do and see in Atlanta, including The World of Coca-Cola, studio tours at CNN Center, viewing the botanical gardens, and getting some exercise at Piedmont Park—the oldest and largest park in Atlanta! The Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), located approximately 13 miles form downtown Atlanta, is one of the largest hubs in the world for travelers, making it your best option for air travel. Rest assured that there is no lack of transportation options to get you to and from the airport and around the city!

NAEYC will provide limited shuttle bus service from official Conference hotels to the Georgia World Congress Center.

Please stay only at an official NAEYC hotel! NAEYC strives to ensure that you have a great experience at all of our conferences and events. We want you to enjoy the hospitality of high-quality accommodations while also feeling safe and secure. That’s why we’ve negotiated rates and blocked rooms for the 2017 Annual Conference hotels. In addition, your reservation at an official Annual Conference hotel will help NAEYC meet the terms of its contracts and avoid financial penalties. Ground Transportation MARTA The MARTA is Atlanta’s rail line, starting from the west end of the Atlanta International Airport, near the Ground Transportation area. The MARTA will take you downtown in about 20 minutes, for only a $2.50 fare! Take the red or gold line from the airport to the Peachtree Center Transit Station to arrive within walking distance of most NAEYC housing options.

Housing Alert!

Taxi or Uber/Lyft

Convention Management Resources (CMR) is NAEYC’s official housing company. CMR is the only company authorized by NAEYC to guarantee rates and accommodations during the Conference. Please do not enter into any agreements with housing companies other than CMR to place your hotel room reservations.

A taxi to/from the Atlanta International Airport has a flat fare of $30, which increases depending on traffic. The average trip costs about $35 with tip.

Hotel room rates for the 2017 NAEYC Annual Conference include a fee that is provided to the Association to subsidize meeting-related costs.
