What is a Female Executive? I am the one that makes the bread, weaves the fabric, creates the peace, negotiates the smiles, shuts it down and wakes it all back up. I am the Swiss Army Knife of mankind. I am the one that gives birth and keeps life goingwhether I have to nudge it with my heart, my mind, my blood or my foot! I keep the bass rhythm of life moving. I am that female that executes the needed, the necessary and the fantastic. I am THAT female executive. (Applaud yourself and take a bow)

From the Editor and Chief Creative Officer
Welcome to the October issue of E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive. This month the theme is “Harvest Your Dreams”-Do the Real Work! With every goal there is an equation of requirements “the personal math” it takes to accomplish your dream. Some requirements are measurable for example: how much practice, study or research is required per day? What’s the quality of your instructors, coaches or partners? What’s the talent of your team members. And the list can go on and on. Then, there are the immeasurable, unforeseen costs. For example: How much time do you spend practicing, or working verses time with my family? Do you relocate your family? Do you stay with the team, the group or go solo? Can you trust the advice of your associates? That list can go on as well. Both the known and the unknown variables impact your personal math for success. . Once you’ve figured out your own personal equation, your ready to get your hands dirty farming your own vision to completion. After acquiring the basics skills (the planting phase), practicing (the watering phase), and developing (the growing phase), you’ve set yourself up for a season of harvest. Whether it’s a successful sales presentation, a new business venture, a graduation or a stunning performance there will be a fantastic harvest -when you do the real work. I hope you enjoy this issue. -Althea Ledford Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

Oh Shut Up and a number of other shocking insults hurled into an unsuspecting audience became one of Joan Rivers’ trademarks. With the exception of her husband Edgar, Joan never speared anyone from becoming the brunt of her jokesincluding herself. Page 14 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
Joan’s comedic technique would leave you shocked and gasping for air. Before you could recover from the first joke, she’d deliver several more in rapid succession. These aren’t just one liners. These were jokes which started with an obvious fact and then followed up mercilessly disassembling the joke’s target. Your laughing

In 1986, with her own rival program, The Late Show with Joan Rivers, Rivers became the first woman to host a late night network television talk show. She subsequently hosted The Joan Rivers Show (1989-1993), winning a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host.
It was been 25 years since Joan Rivers was a guest on The Tonight Show, and on Thursday she returned in style. Joan jokingly remarked that she has had the cab running out front of the studio for the last 25 years.

Having become widely known for her red carpet interviews, Rivers co-hosted theE! celebrity fashion show Fashion Police (2010- 2014) and starred in reality series Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? (2011-2014) with daughter Melissa Rivers.
Rivers marketed a line of jewelry and apparel on the QVC shopping channel, and was the subject of the documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work(2010). Above all the comedic relief and self defaming humor, Joan is a brilliant business woman. She didn’t allow age, death, financial crisis or depression to stop her from reinventing herself.
At the time of her death Joan had a net worth of over $150 million. This includes a$35 million NYC apartment, that she left to her only child, Melissa Rivers and her $40 million per year, QVC fortune. So in remembrance of every hater, that criticized her technique, thought she was crazy or labeled Joan as a loose canon. We say in Joan’s own words- Oh Shut Up! Letting Go of
“Fear
is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present, and may not ever exist. That is near insanity! Do not misunderstand me, danger is very real but fear is a choice.” — Will Smith, After Earth Have you ever had fear hold you back or keep you from moving forward in your life? Most people are so uncomfortable with change that they let the fear of the unknown paralyze them. People often mistake fear as danger, rather than a choice. In doing so, you can unknowingly manufacture a baseless case for fear Page 22 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
and give it more power than it deserves in your life. And it’s far more common than you may think. According to a 2012 Fear/Phobia Study by the National Institute of Mental Health, a look at the percentages of most feared things by people, included:
60% — Things that will never take place 30% — Things that happened in the past and can’t be changed 90% — Things that are considered to be insignificant issues 88% — Things feared in relation to health that will not happen For common cases of manufactured fear such as those above, working with your personal coach can help you gain Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
the Fear Hold
a new perspective and release the hold these fears may have on you.
Neutralize The Power of Your Fears As implicated by Will Smith’s quote, you can choose to give fear power over you, or disarm it. This powerful message helps me and my clients put fear where it belongs… a thing of the past! Following are crucial steps in this process:
Acknowledgement — Acknowledge your fears, you are human and you have them…we all do, it’s ok! Acknowledging them is ½ the battle.
Identification — Ask yourself, “What are my fears?” and get specific about Page 23 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
exactly what you fear. Look at the pictures you have in your head and become an observer of your inner space.
Origination — Where do your fears come from? Before you can begin overcoming your fear, you have to know why they are causing havoc. You can then work on your own, or with your personal coach to diminish their power over you. Once you come to the realization that you have all the power, not your fears, you will begin to see exciting new opportunities before you. And although you are human and can experience setbacks, you can now practice telling yourself the truth —“My fears are not real, and it no longer serves me to think about them in this way.” — to get yourself right back on track. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
I am Fear I am the menace that lurks in the paths of life, never visible to the eye but sharply felt in the heart. I am the father of despair, the brother of procrastination, the enemy of progress, the tool of tyranny. Born of ignorance and nursed on misguided thought, I have darkened more hopes, and stifled more ambitions, shattered more ideals and prevented more accomplishments than history could record. Like the changing chameleon, I assume Many disguises. I masquerade as caution. I am sometimes known as doubt or worry. But whatever I’m called, I am still fear, the obstacle of achievement. I know no master but one; its name is Understanding. I have no power but what the human mind gives me, and I vanish completely when the light of Understanding reveals the facts as they really are, for I am really nothing.
How Well Do You Handle Fear? At its best, fear is an instinctive, natural ability to help us survive. At its worst, it’s that nagging voice inside our heads that heralds doom and disaster even before we get started on something. Fear keeps us from taking risks that might enrich our life or holds us back from doing some things we need to do. Do you experience new and exciting vistas? Get involved with that person or group? Accomplish something really great? Fear says, “Not on your life.” Page 24 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
To discover the role fear plays in your life, complete the following Thriving Quiz.
True or False
Set 1 1. My self-talk is filled with “can not”, “should not” and “ought to.” T/F 2. I never talk about my fears. If I do, people will think I’m stupid or weak. T/F Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
3. I often find myself thinking about bad things that might happen in the future. T/F 4. I feel trapped in, or avoid social situations where it might be difficult to escape if I wanted to, such as in a crowd or on the highway. T/F 5. I tend to need approval from family or peers before going after dreams and goals. T/F 6. Making mistakes publicly is horrendous; I just want to crawl away and hide. T/F Page 25 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
7. I’d rather not get involved in a relationship because I’d have to surrender personal power and lose myself. T/F 8. To avoid being rejected, I try to please people and take my own needs and desires out of the equation. T/F 9. I often compromise in situations to avoid conflict. T/F 10.A sure-fire way to end up disappointed is to want something too much. T/F Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
11. When things seem to be going really well for me, I get uneasy that I’ll do something to ruin it. T/F 12. I find it difficult to express undesirable emotions such as anger. T/F 13. When confronted by others, I feel “spacey” or disconnected from my body. T/F 14. I’m so nervous about approaching my boss for a raise, I’ve never asked for one. T/F 15. I’d rather just stick to what I know, even if it’s not great, than risk change. T/F Page 26 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
Set 2 1. I expand my comfort zone by taking a small risk every day, such as making one phone call or asking for one thing I want. T/F 2. When I feel fear, I keep my mind on the details, not the Big Picture. I complete the report word by word, pay the bills one by one, see the group individual by individual. T/F
Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
3. I look to others to model courage for me. Their courageous behavior encourages confidence. T/F 4. When something scares me, I get information, replacing fear with knowledge. T/F 5. I visualize myself doing what I’m afraid to do; I see myself as graceful, strong and capable. T/F If you answered true more than false in the first set of questions, fear may be playing a bigger role in your life than you’d like. In the second set, a true means you’re successfully employing strategies to master fear. If your fears are pervasive or severe, you may be suffering from an anxiety disorder, in which case you should definitely seek professional help. If your fears
are not debilitating, but still get in the way of doing what you need or want to do, working with your personal coach can make all the difference.

What Women Need to Know About Franchising
Hello again, my name is David Goodman. I am the President/CEO of Franchise Biz Consulting and welcome to “The Franchise
Corner”.
In terms of the Fall Season approaching, this month is the “Changing of the Guard” sign post. Typically, with a new season being born, there comes a feeling within all of us that the “status quo” isn’t good enough. We re-evaluate our current station in life and look at what can be done to effect a change for the better. Quite
often the change needs to come from within. Page 36 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
By David Goodman This thought process always leads to the age old tug of war; that being, your family on one side of the hawser line and your boss on the other side of that proverbial line. Of course, you are smack, dab in the middle. Now the
game begins. Who is going to win? Your family who wants all of your time and the luxury of your income to feed the needs of daily living? Or your boss, who wants all of your time because he feels he deserves it due to the pay check you bring home? More often than not your family ends up on the short end of the rope, deducting that your Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
family needs money to survive and the boss supplies that by virtue of the time, energy and productivity you produce. The family comes in a distant second. This is a cycle that is most likely to continue unless one can take a deep breath, emotionally reach down, visualize a change and take steps to make it happen.
Here Is The Secret You can make it happen! You do not need to be a rocket scientist to start your own business so that the only boss you need to appease is yourself. You do not need to know how to start a business, pick a site, negotiate a lease, hire people, buy products, figure out pricing for maximum profits, market those products, hire employees, train employees, financial or borrowing options, etc. The concept that
Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
women should not or cannot begin their own business went out with parasols and high button shoes. (Actually, I stand corrected. I recently walked down Hollywood Boulevard and half the women I saw had the high button shoes! LOl! However, what I was trying to address is that there is a tool women can use to get a” leg up” regarding lack of experience and still be extraordinarily successful. That will be discussed in the following paragraphs.) Of course, we are neglecting the
what business would be best suited for your needs, wants, desires, financial capabilities? With those formidable most obvious question..
questions and no clue how to find the answers, most people go back to what they know best, which is to stay in the same cycle as before. Women are even more prone to this rhythm because we,
E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive Page 37
humans are, by nature, Hunter and Gatherers. In the dawn of societies, men did the hunting which required going out to new territories to look for food. Men were the hunters. To use a more modern expression, men “Brought home the bacon“. Women stayed home and reared the young and took care of all the family domestic duties. Well, the tables have turned. Most women are also in the work force financially contributing to the financial welfare of the family. It is very common to see both husband and wife working to keep the family afloat. What most women do not know is that they have another avenue open to them; one, which can be dramatically more financially and emotionally rewarding than working a 9 to 5 job. It could be the tool you need to throw a sabot into Page 38 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
the machinery of the mundane perennial circle of continuing doubt. Invest in a Franchise. A franchise does many things to help answer all the aforementioned questions. It can be the answer to your way out of the current enigma; “Who
should I appease, my family or my boss?” However, one ingredient or answer is missing, the most important one, “What Franchise is right for me?”
The Answer To The Most Important Question I cannot tell you how many people have come to me with the same question. Actually I can, all of them! Even the candidates who come to me with a burning desire to open a Fast Food Burger Joint because they are a short order cook; or, to open an auto care facility because they are a Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
mechanic; or, to open up a Senior Care Facility because they are a nurse, etc., may not know what they really want. That is why they need a Franchise Consultant. What a consultant does is work closely with the candidate and learn, with in-depth detail, what they are truly looking to attain in life: money, life style change, prestige, eye on retirement, passive income, security, independence, scalability of investment, etc. Then they tailor a specific search given the parameters the candidate has laid out. They work as a team. Typically all this is done at no cost to the candidate. The various franchisors are constantly looking for highly qualified candidates to help grow their respective companies. They recognize that a super qualified candidate can mean additional growth for the franchise, so they are happy to compensate the consultant. This system provides a win, win, win situation for all parties.
For Me, October Is The Beginning Of The Holiday Season When I was a kid, the most fun was the Halloween Season. Planning the costume of my favorite superhero and then marching in a parade during school recess, was to a young guy of the tender age of 10 years old, fantastic. Now let’s not forget the “piece de resistance” the night of “Trick or Treating”; complete with the contest of who can collect the most candy and of course, the ensuing abdominal cramps from over-eating. But the worst part is to hide the discomfort because I was told by my parents not to eat so much or I would get a tummy ache. I am sure my readers would like to hear of a few Page 39 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
franchises that are indicative of the season. Well, there is good news and great news. The good news is the franchise industry has representative franchises to the tune of over 3000 in a vast directory of categories. The great news is that my hand-picked directory of close to 500 franchises, are not seasonal. You have the opportunity of making money all year round. However, keeping cadence with the season I can highlight a few noteworthy super franchises for October: Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

The above Franchise opportunities are the premiere opportunities for the month of October. They represent a pleasant and welcome twist to the, designer chocolate, healthy snack and clothing industry.
In Conclusion Although it is enticing to choose a franchise and then go after it, that may not be the most prudent tact. She returned to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 1989 when Mr. Ailey asked her to succeed him as Artistic Director. Alvin Ailey Founder
Alvin Ailey, Founder Alvin Ailey was born on January 5, 1931, in Rogers, Texas. His experiences of life in the rural South would later inspire some of his most memorable works. He was introduced to dance in Los Angeles by performances of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and the Katherine Dunham Dance Company, and his formal dance training began with an introduction to Lester Horton’s classes by his friend Carmen de Lavallade. Horton, the founder of one of the first raciallyintegrated dance companies in the United States, became a mentor for Mr. Ailey as he embarked on his professional career. After
Horton’s death in 1953, Mr. Ailey became director of the Lester Horton Dance Theater and began to choreograph his own works. E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive Page 48
In the 1950s and 60s, Mr. Ailey performed in four Broadway shows, including House of Flowers and Jamaica. In 1958, he founded Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to carry out his vision of a company dedicated to enriching the American modern dance heritage and preserving the uniqueness of the African-American cultural experience. He established the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center (now The Ailey School) in
1969 and formed the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble (now Ailey II) in 1974. Mr. Ailey was a pioneer of programs promoting arts in education, particularly those benefiting underserved communities. Throughout his lifetime he was awarded numerous distinctions, including the Kennedy Center Honor in 1988 in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to American culture. Page 49 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
When Mr. Ailey died on December 1, 1989, The New York Times said of him, “you didn’t need to have known [him] personally to have been touched by his humanity, enthusiasm, and exuberance and his courageous stand for multi-racial brotherhood.”
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater grew from a now-fabled performance in March 1958 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Led by Alvin Ailey and a group of young African-American modern dancers, that performance changed forever the perception of American dance. The
Ailey company has gone on to perform for an estimated 25 million people at theaters in 48 states and 71 countries on six continents Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

-- as well as millions more through television broadcasts. In 2008, a U.S. Congressional resolution designated the Company as “a vital American cultural ambassador to the world” that celebrates the uniqueness of the African-American cultural experience and the preservation and enrichment of the American modern dance heritage. When Mr. Ailey began creating dances, he drew upon his "blood memories" of Texas, the blues, spirituals, and gospel as inspiration, which resulted in the creation of his most popular and critically acclaimed work, Revelations. Although he created 79 ballets over his lifetime, Mr. Ailey maintained that his company was not exclusively a repository for his own work. Today, the Company continues Mr. Ailey's mission Page 50 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
by presenting important works of the past and commissioning new ones. In all, more than 235 works by over 90 choreographers have been part of the Ailey company’s repertory. Before his untimely death in 1989,
Alvin Ailey named Judith Jamison as his successor, and over the next 21 years, she brought the Company to unprecedented success. Ms. Jamison, in turn, personally selected Robert Battle to succeed her in 2011, and The New York Times declared he “has injected the company with new life.”

Natural Solutions for Abundance and Personal Empowerment By Dennis S. Watts Page 54 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

What is Abundant Living? Abundant Living - True abundant life consists of an abundance of love, joy, peace, and the rest of the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) not an abundance of “stuff.” It consists of life that is eternal and, as such, our interest is in the eternal, not the temporal. Prosperous Living - prosperous adj. Having success; flourishing: a prosperous new business. Well-to-do; well-off: a prosperous family.
What is Personal Empowerment? Personal empowerment is in knowing you are the person you want to be beyond the facade you’ve created. An example of this might be having a desire to move up into management. Sometimes it is the difference between thinking and knowing something about you. For instance you could say to Page 56 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
yourself “I think I can manage”; where as if you were empowered you would have the ability to say “I know I can manage”. By studying the powers of the mind both conscious and subconscious, we come to the realization that if we only knew how to use these powers, we could accomplish practically anything we have set firm in our view such as our happiness, joy, peace, harmony, abundance, prosperity, health, vitality, love and enlightenment. All of these elements translate to a specific vibrations or frequencies in our reality. Our goal is to master the process or procedure that will allow the personal empowerment vibrations to take residence in our body mind spirit complex. When this happens all manner of abundance will be at hand for you and everyone associated with you. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
Affirmation or Prayer to set primary vibrations of creation I am that, I am, I am we are, Invoking the experience and vibrations of happiness, joy, harmony, peace, abundance, prosperity, health, vitality, love and enlightenment in this moment called NOW. Explanation – when you say “I am that I am” visualize bright light going from the center of the earth through your heart and into the infinity of creation. It is very important to be heart centered through this practice. Breathe through your heart as if it was your nose. This will become your new personal belief. A belief is any thought that you repeat over and over in your mind. A belief is a thought you keep on repeating. A belief is what helps you create your reality. A strong belief is what interacts and interfaces directly with the quantum field of infinite potentiality. What we believe is extremely important to what we create in our reality.
When you say “I am we are” visualize a bright light going through your heart and touching the heart of every living being on earth. To truly have personal empowerment, you must be able hold these vibrations in your subconscious mind or your physical body. I am that, I am, I am we are, Invoking the experience and vibrations of [whatever positive goal you choose to accomplish] in this moment called NOW. I am that I am
I am we are
It is very important you use only positive language. Never invoke things you don’t want. Example 1- “Eliminating debt in my life”. Instead invoke the experience and vibration of abundance and prosperity in this moment called now. Example 2- “Removing my spouse from my life”. Instead invoke the experience and vibrations of a loving relationship in my life in the moment called now. Example 3- Elimination of specific health problems”. Instead invoke the experience and vibration of health and vitality in this moment called now.

Mastering the Law of Attraction The quantum field or the God Field does not know the word NO. We have to practice stating what we truly want to experience instead of what we don’t want to experience in our life. Your manifestation powers reside in this moment we call now and never in the past or future. This is how we master the law of attraction while enhancing our abundance and personal empowerment. Always finish your invocation with heart centered gratitude and appreciation know-
Any thought of doubt that you harbor in your mind is like an off switch. This will take ing that it is done.
practice. You must be persistent to master these skills.
Your strong feelings and emotions are the keys to reprogramming your subconscious mind. May I suggest you program your subconscious mind using the most positive and the highest vibrations you can imagine? We have to learn how to take full responsibility for every word and thought that issues forth from our mind, body spirit complex. These are the essentials of our personal empowerment. As an infinite being you are a leading edge genius creator that is using the Law of attraction whether you know it or not. I am suggesting that we understand our place in the cosmic scheme of reality and create on purpose instead of being a victim of circumstance.
You are an infinite Being Always remember and believe that you are an Infinite Being. In reality we are light expanding without end. Our physical body is only a small piece of who we really are in this creation. The great shift is about us coming into the understanding and truth of

Our civilization has been tricked and distracted into believing a reality that was totally out of synchronization with the truth of who we are. We are living under a flawed premise given to us by some of our political and religious authorities over time. We have been lead to believe that men are superior to women. We are no greater than the dust of the earth. We are using only a small portion of our brain capacity and potential. Remember beliefs create our reality. These flawed premises as well as many in the same category caused our civilization to be distracted from the truth of who and what we really are from a cosmic view point. We are spiritual beings having a human experi-
Everything in this creation comes into existence via a vibration or a complex of vibrations. All of our feelings, emotions and thoughts are made of vibrations. The law of attraction works on the bases of resonance with vibration. This is how the creators make suns, planets, solar systems, galaxies and universes. They have the ability to hold the intention strong enough and long enough to allow the quantum field or God field to assemble whatever is being held in Source Mind.
In reality the human skin suit which contains a portion of our infinite being is individualized fractal holographic copy of the creator. We humans, with our special highly advanced technology called a human body are smaller aspects of the creator. This advance technology (human skin suit) allows the creator to experience all aspects of the creation through our refined sensory systems. Ladies and gentlemen the math and science of the Unified Field Theory is in, the conclusion is that we are one, there is no separation. That is the truth of our reality base on the findings of theoretical physicist such as Nissam Haramein. I am suggesting that we take this knowledge and incorporate it into our daily life and create abundance and personal empowerment.

Essential Oils: Rediscovering Humanity's First Medicine B.J. Miller - Premier Wellness Advocate 323.209.8130 consultbj1@aol.com
I was introduced to essential oils when a girlfriend invited me to her stepdaughter's introductory class. To tell the truth, I had no interest in the subject matter and just went to support my friend. I arrived late and settled into my chair. I was surprised to discover that essential oils were mankind's first medicine! Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts reveal that priests and physicians have been using oils derived from aromatic plants for thousands
Essential oils are essentially the distilled "life force" or the "immune system" of the plant, tree or bark. Essential oils are 100% natural. They are steam of years.
distilled or cold pressed extraction, and very concentrated -- they are 50 to 70 times more powerful than herbs (1 drop of peppermint oil is equivalent to 28 cups of peppermint tea). Page 64 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
I learned that it is important to use oils that are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade in order to assure they are the best medicinal quality and to realize the best results, and that this is absolutely essential when planning to ingest them internally. The only company that has this certification is called doTERRA. They cultivate their oils from the best spot on the planet for each specific oil -- as an example (just to name a few), the Lavender comes from the high altitudes of France (and is much more effective than would be an oil made from lavender grown in our own backyard in southern California), the Lemon comes from Italy, the Peppermint comes from Washington State, the Melaleuca (tea tree) comes from Australia, the Oregano comes from Turkey, the Vetiver comes from Haiti, the Cardamom comes from Guatemala and the Frankincense comes from Oman. Initially, my consciousness was at the level of enjoying the food spread that was laid out and listening to the presentation with a half-ear. After awhile, a man who had been sitting quietly stood up and began to speak. He indicated that he used to be an employee of a global technology company and that he was a very left-brained, rational and skeptical person. He mentioned that he had had Peripheral T-cell Lymphoma which had started as a red nodule on one of his temples. He went through chemotherapy, refused radiation and a bone marrow transplant, and was told that, in “success”, he would have a 20% chance of surviving the next five years. During the time of his treatments, his wife had become involved with essential oils; he had then viewed her, lovingly, as a "crazy oil lady" and wanted nothing to do with it. Eventually, a red nodule grew on the other side of his face; he knew the Peripheral T-cell Lymphoma had come back and he scheduled a further appointment with his oncologist. His wife pleaded with him to try the essential oils and put a vial of
Frankin-
cense (the "King of Essential Oils" and
the one to have if only one) on his bathroom counter. He did not tell her, but he started to rub in a couple drops of the oil on the nodule for 10 seconds at a Page 65 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
time, 3 times per day. The nodule broke up and dissipated before he could have it biopsied. He said, "Western medicine would tell you it was not there because they couldn't biopsy it. I know it was there because I had had it before and I know my body.” I put down my half uneaten cookie and sat up a bit straighter in my chair. He then told us he had had a near-fatal cat allergy reaction -- that he had been sleeping in a friend's guest room and that, unbeknownst to him, one of their cats had curled up on his chest while he was sleeping. When he awoke, he needed to be rushed to the emergency room as his body systems were shutting down. He took two drops of Lavender essential oil, two drops of Peppermint essential oil, and two drops of Lemon essential oil in six ounces of water -- swish, gargle, swallow. He maintained this protocol for a period of time; now he no longer needs it and he can successfully be around cats. At this point, I was sitting up even straighter in my chair. (He said that while most people have heard of essential oils being used topically -- by rubbing them on the skin, within 20 minutes they are in every needed cell in the body -- or diffused aromatically -- only the certified pure therapeutic grade doTERRA oils can be taken internally.) Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
Next he told us that he has Psoriatic Arthritis and that, by age 37, he could only slowly walk down stairs sideways and that some days it was too painful to get out of bed. He is now 80 - 90% better as a result of taking doTERRA essential oils in combination with some of their supplements. Now I was on the edge of my seat. I was raised in Cleveland, moved to LA after attending Brown University, and have been active as an executive and consultant on the business side of the film industry for over thirty years. I had considered myself to be well-informed about health issues and all of Western medicine, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other approaches both traditional and nontraditional. HOW WAS IT THAT THERE WAS THIS EN-
TIRE PARALLEL SCIENCE OF THE THERAPEUTIC AND MEDICINAL USE OF ESSENTIAL OILS OF WHICH I HAD KNOWN VIRTUALLY NOTHING? I started asking questions.
Page 66 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
The first response I received was that "human beings don't think it can be that simple" -- that we could not possibly grasp that what we need for healing ourselves already exists on the planet. We thought we had to create manmade chemical copies of what Nature provided. Sadly, these man-made copies come with all sorts of negative side effects, as the nauseating bombardment of television commercials by pharmaceutical companies makes only too clear. To my amazement, I have dis-
covered that essential oils have the opposite paradigm as they have UNEXPECTED POSITIVE SIDE EFFECTS! As an example, there is a doTERRA essential oil blend product that is used to help people with wrinkles and age spots, and an unexpected side effect is that people's eyesight is improving! Also, my friend's stepdaughter got her five year old daughter's elementary school to agree to Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
diffuse an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral doTERRA essential oil blend into the classroom to prevent the kids from getting sick and an unexpected side effect is that the teachers’ moods have become happy! The second response was that there has been an historic battle waged by allopathic medicine against homeopathic medicine. A lot of companies would lose money if people figured out that, in many instances, they could heal themselves through using plants, trees and bark. The goal of doTERRA is certainly not to replace one's doctor but to empower people by having a "healer in every home" as a first line of defense to maximize immunity and treat physical and emotional concerns. Of course, there are many medical emergencies such as heart attack, stroke, broken bone, etc. where one should immediately seek professional help.
Page 67 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
I needed to see if the product was as it was represented to be and purchased an Every Oil Kit. I had consulted with a highly esteemed Doctor of Oriental Medicine, who has been practicing for over thirty years, about taking essential oils internally, and he was initially skeptical, concerned that they might burn the mucous membranes. I took all 57 doTERRA essential oils and their supplements to him. After he silently investigated them, he said that "this changes everything in the field of healing, that he had never previously come across essential oils which were pure enough to be taken internally, that this opens up a whole new range of possibilities for healing clients, and that he was now very excited about the possibilities of this new frontier! He has since become involved with doTERRA and is studying a Chinese book on essential oils in order to combine an Eastern/Western approach to them. Continued on Page 94

Winemaking Philosophy: “Great wines come from great vineyard sites”! Any experienced winemaker will tell you that great wines must come from great vineyards. The Sterling family’s energy and investment has primarily gone into cultivation of great vineyard sites. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
Their winemaking is all about the land. The goal with each wine is to reflect the unique appellations that have been chosen for each wine in a very hand -crafted way. Expressing the unique flavors of each vineyard site is the objective.
Accolades: Some of the best wines you never heard of! Consistent with the brand slogan, “Quietly
making wines too good to ignore,” Esterlina wines have been blessed with recognition on a grand scale from their first commercial vintages.
The Sterlings have the distinction of owning their own American Viticultural Area “The Cole Ranch,” the federal government designates AVAs based on their significance in soil and climate characteristics. The Court of Master Sommeliers frequently includes The Cole Ranch in test questions due to its standing as the smallest US AVA. The question you ask? What is the U.S. monopole or single owner AVA?
The Esterlina 1998 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir was recognized as one of the few Gold Medal Pinot Noirs in the first SF Chronicle Wine Competition which is now the largest competition of American wines in the world. Old school industry heavy weights such as The Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast have given various vintages of the Esterlina Pinot Noirs and Rieslings 90+ ratings frequently through the years. The wines have been consistently recognized on fine dining reserve lists, menus and cook books from Las Vegas to Napa’s French Laundry, most notably two White House menus under the Bush administration and two special event requests for President Obama. Try the handcrafted wines of Esterlina Vineyards and the fruits of their family labor of love. E Magazine is confident you will be exhilarated!

Start by concealing your wines, cover the bottles your guests bring with paper bags or aluminum foil. The task for you and your guests is to guess the identity of the wine or Which

Think Halloween is just about trick or treating for kids?
Think Again! Why not consider gathering some friends for a blind wine tasting party or what I call the Which
Wine is Witch? Tasting.
A blind tasting means that everyone tastes a series of wines without knowing their identity. Tasting blind makes it easier to fo-

cus on the wine without having preconceived notions. Many times when we know the wine or the price of the wine our brain will fast forward with observations that may or may not be there. Sommeliers regularly taste wine this way to develop their sensory skills and are even tested on their blind tasting skills.

Here’s what you need to know to create your Which Wine is Witch? Halloween Tasting:
Pick A Party theme. Your theme might be to try wines from specific countries (Spanish wines), certain grape varietals (Chardonnay or Petit Syrah), price range (reds under $20), or, perhaps, unusual or spooky labels. Anything works so just be creative! Looking for inspiration? Search the Internet to see what wine professionals are doing. There are websites like LocalWineEvents.com that list wine events all over the country with great ideas for you to model. Page 81 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
Don’t forget to ask the salesperson at your local wine store, they might have great ideas, too.
Choose a Format This can be done as a sit down tasting, with each person tasting wines side-by-side, or you can place the wines around the room and taste them one by one. The sit down format requires a significant amount of glassware, depending on the number of friends you invite. If you need additional glassware catering companies often rent them at reasonable rates.
Invite Friends Invitations are as easy as sending an email or using an online invitation services like Evite. Ask guests to bring wines appropriate to the theme. Remember to make sure you have adequate room and glassware for your guests. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
Eight to twelve people is an optimal size for a home wine tasting party—enough people to be interesting, yet still manageable. Wine tasting parties are also great for making new friends. A great old proverb says “Over a bottle of wine many a friend is made.” You are guaranteed to prove the truth of this the night of your tasting!
Think About Food Pairings An easy way to handle the food issue is to ask guests to bring a light dish or appetizer to go with their wine, such as cheeses, olives and meats (like salami, pepperoni, etc.). This way there is a variety of foods for testing with different wines. Page 82 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
Chardonnay, can match nicely with a chicken or pork dish whereas a light red, like Pinot Noir, is a natural with a fabulous piece of salmon. As a general rule: light fare goes best with lighter bodied, more delicate wines; fuller bodied, more intense wines go best with bigger foods. For instance, white wines are a natural with salads and seafood whereas hearty reds match the fuller fat content of meatier dishes. Don’t be constrained by the old adage white wines with fish and red wines with meat. This is just a general rule and is, of course, meant to be broken. Fuller whites, like a buttery Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
To test how the various foods go with each wine, you want to make what I call a wine sandwich™. Take a sip of the wine alone. Next, take a bite of food, followed by a second sip of the same wine. pairings work and which do not. The second sip will demonstrate the effect the food has on the wine. It’s a tasty method to learn what
Taste The Wine Have water and bread or crackers available for palate cleansing in between tastings. Pour about an ounce or two of wine in the glasses (one ounce is approximately the width of one finger). Guests may not finish the entire sample, so have empty ice buckets or pitchers to discard the wine. Provide tasting sheets for guests to take notes, guess the identity of each wine and score their favorites. Be sure to give folks enough time to taste and discuss each sample before moving to the next wine. You’ll quickly find that people have different opinions about the same wine. Once tasting is completed, unveil Which Wine is Witch and see who guessed correctly.
Happy Halloween! Page 83 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Creation of a Successful Brand: An Authentic Brand
Howard Lim
First let’s be clear, a brand is a promise. In order for a brand to thrive, it must deliver on that promise consistently. Where many companies fail is they are not authentic when delivering their promise and/or product/service. This can happen for a multitude of reasons: being unclear themselves on what they’re capable of delivering, having inconsistent marketing, copying another brand or having inconsistent marketing etc. Each of these problems has the same solution: authenticity.
An authentic brand is not necessarily the first to market; it's the brand that comes first to the customer’s mind. The one that comes to mind is the one that stands apart from all the others. An authentic brand owns a differentiating attribute. Page 86 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
An authentic brand has a huge and immediate competitive edge. In fact, it's your strongest marketing guarantee. And it's your strongest legal protection, should a From another standpoint, it’s critical to never lose sight of the fact that your customer al-
ways has a choice, even if your product or service has no competition. They can choose to buy a completely different kind of product. They can choose to buy nothing. They always have a choice. Being an authentic brand makes the customer more compelled to make you that choice. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
Whether consciously or unconsciously, the prospect who's pondering whether or not to buy your product or service is essentially asking the question: Why choose this one? Your differentiating attribute is the answer to that question. It’s a promise, which (again) is ultimately the boiled down definition of a brand.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER? You can’t rely on your brand’s unique selling proposition (USP) anymore to close the sale. Every brand competing against yours claims to have a USP. And you can’t rely solely on
your brand’s past reputation. Your prospects don’t care about yesterday. Marketing today is not about selling. It's about educating. With more brands than ever before, customers have more choices, thus more control. They determine what will make their life better, and which product is the right one to do it. You help them make that choice by connecting to them on an emotional level Page 87 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
and educating them about the product, the service, the industry… and answering the question “why your product.” In the new
economy, a brand becomes a USP through education. You want people to fall in love with your brand, and bond with it through trust. IF NOT A USP, THAN WHAT?? Be authentic and clear on what your company is promising versus delivering. In today’s marketplace, me-tooism is the predominant competitive force. Most companies imitate, in hopes of cashing in on their competitors’
successes. But me-too products, are inherently undifferentiated. Guess what this means for you? That's right. It’s a great time to innovate and differentiate! Still stumped? Here are some useful tips to
Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
jump start your company’s transformation into a thriving, authentic brand: QUALITY- Actually providing authentically superior quality will strengthen your brand over time. But quality is an expected attribute, not a differentiating attribute. Since no one believes you when you claim superior quality (everyone makes this claim!), you can’t count on claims of superior quality to differentiate you from the competition. One technique is to say quality without ever saying it. Go grab that thesaurus that’s been sitting on your shelf since college. Stimulate your mind and look for effective code words that convey quality without spelling out Q-U-A-L..
SATISFACTION- Customer satisfaction is subject to the same rules as quality. Satisfaction is expected, not optional. A savvier, more demanding consumer base has raised the bar for brands. Today’s marketer must hold onto existing customers while landing new customers. These days you can only successfully differentiate your brand with quality or satisfaction strategies when your competition is dumb enough to let you.
DIFFERENTIATION- The Japanese term otaku has been used in the context of brand appeal. Otaku describes a drive that's more compelling than a hobby but a little less than an obsession. A craving? A compulsion? The distinctions probably aren't important. What's important is that it drives
Page 88 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
customers to your brand. Can you inspire otaku? Ask yourself these questions: Does my brand convey instantly the
unique purchase proposition in today’s market climate?
Does my brand provoke instant recall and recognition in the customer’s heart and mind?
If you answered yes to both questions, you're on your way to achieving customer otaku. Part of the trick is to create your difference, and use that difference to drive your benefit message. Use your difference to set up your unique value proposition. In a crowded category, differences usually need to be dramatic, simple and easy to grasp. Even if that means oversimplifying your message, distilling your difference to one attribute.
DON’T LET ‘WHAT IF’ STOP YOU – TAKE RISK Being safe is risky. Being boring is risky. In today’s crowded marketplace, it’s hard to survive if you don’t stand out. Being scrutinized — even criticized — is not the worst thing that can happen to you. Being invisible is the worst thing that can happen to you.
Take action. These days many companies are conserving capital, playing it safe, eliminating risk every way they can (or so they believe). But this is your opportunity to exploit their weakness to your advantage. Cease it. It’s a great time to innovate and differentiate! Create a new brand category. That’s how you beat the market leaders.

Focus By Bruce Wiseman
I am a fan of Al Ries.
The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding.
Those of you that read these articles likely know that.
Pretty damn cool. I highly recommend both of these books. I don’t always agree with the perspective of team Ries. In their book, War in the Boardroom, they posit that people think with their brains. With all due respect, human tissue didn’t compose Beethoven’s fifth, write the Declaration of Independence or create Star Wars. But lest we get too philosophical about it all, as marketing strategists, you’ve got to love these guys.
Al Ries is the Godfather of the marketing strategy called Positioning. Along with then partner, Jack Trout, Al wrote three articles introducing positioning to the advertising world in 1972. Then in 1981, they wrote what the subscribers to Advertising Age (the industry bible) later voted to be the best Media and Marketing book of all time – Positioning: the Battle for your Mind. Whoa! And as a not-so-minor side note, the #3 book on that list, was one he co-wrote with his daughter and partner for the last two decades, Laura Ries: Page 92 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
In 1996, Al wrote a book called Focus. The name says it all. And to this day, Ries & Ries refer to themselves as Focusing Consultants. Let me give you a great example of focusing your brand. David Brier is a branding pro.

We call on each other’s services from time to time when needed. David calls on On Target when he needs to understand the minds of his client’s prospects, and I call on David when one of our corporate clients needs the creative and design services of a branding expert. David recently wrote, produced and directed a commercial for a new brand that is so focused it will make you sweat. Take a look. http://www.risingabovethenoise.com/revivalof-the-fittest-how-to-brand-video/ Focusing a brand doesn’t get any better than that. How do you focus your brand? There is a point in the Ries and Ries book, The 22 immutable Laws of Branding that most businesses don’t really grasp. It is this: A brand becomes stronger when you narrow its focus. Ruth’s Chris = steaks; Toys R Us = kids toys; Office Depot…you get the idea. athletes – but not just any athletes, those who Defy Limitations, Crush it…the Last One Standing. The ultimate tool for focusing your brand is surveys. Surveys enable you to get into the mind of your public to see what they are focused on. Surveys are what we do. If your marketing isn’t driving traffic to your sales staff or your website in the volume you’d like, we can help you narrow the focus and strengthen your brand. Sometimes an external look at your marketing can provide you with a whole new perspective. For more than a quarter of a century, we’ve helped companies – hundreds of them – focus their brands and increase sales and income. Continued From Page 67 The real difference for him with the doTERRA oils is, again, their unique Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. He indicated that, with all prior brands he had experienced and whenever he sees essential oils in stores, he can tell that whomever is producing them does not have the financial resources to cultivate the best sources and purify them properly. As doTERRA, formed just six years ago, will soon be a billion dollar company, they absolutely have the resources to properly cultivate and purify their oils, and the commitment to spend the extra time and resources necessary to do so. Not yet content, I took all 57 essential oils plus doTERRA's supplements to yet another Doctor of Oriental Medicine who has been in practice for over 25 years. After he examined them, he indicated that, in all his years of practice, his instruments had never measured such positive readings. He congratulated me on finding a company with such good supplements -- indicating that most other supplements are "junk". He has now also become involved with the company. Last, but definitely not least, I ran doTERRA's supplements by a highly respected Integrative Oncologist who indicated that
"I looked through this thoroughly, and it looks like good stuff". Page 94 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
Over subsequent months, I have now personally witnessed the effectiveness of doTERRA products -- including the healing of a girlfriend's lower back pain, the healing of her boyfriend’s pollen allergy symptoms (including loss of his voice), the healing of a hairdresser's right hip bursitis, the healing of a woman's migraine which she had suffered for so many years she could not remember not having a headache, the healing of a friend's ankle edema that was so bad she could hardly walk ("I'm doing soo much better thank you!!!!”), etc. -- all through the use of these oils and, because they are so potent, sometimes almost instantly with just the application of a couple of drops. As for me, I was in overall good health when I started using these oils. My financial health,
however, has greatly improved as a result of saving hundreds of dollars per month by ending numerous herbal supplements which are covered by doTERRA’s Lifelong Vitality Pack ($74.50 wholesale) along with PB Assist+, doTERRA's Probiotic Defense Formula ($34.50 wholesale). doTERRA also has supplements for children. If essential oils are applied topically, within twenty minutes they are in the cells of the body where they are needed. And, as the pores on the bottom of the feet are the largest, when applied there they reach the needed cells in the body within thirty seconds! I have also reduced my caffeine intake through use of doTERRA's Mito2Max Energy & Stamina Complex, and, through other uses of the oils, have managed to quell anxiety, make headaches disappear, and prevent myself from getting sick when I felt something coming on. In addition to the essential oils and supplements, my clients are using doTERRA's Essential Skin Care, Salon Essentials Hair Care, and Spa product lines, along with products for weight loss, digestive health, women's issues, children's issues, mood control, mental clarity/focus, fitness support, immunity and even cleaning. BUILD A BUSINESS EMPIRE From Your Book Tracy Repchuk, Amazon International Bestseller
If
you are thinking about writing a book, or
have already written one, I want to tell you some truths and a way that you can build an empire from your book. The truth is there are very few people who make a living selling their books. That is why I teach a couple of things - one is how to effectively use your book as your business card to catapult you above your competition, and the other is what I’m going to cover in this article - leverage.
Because only a small percent of people can live off the proceeds of their book, Page 114 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
I always create a book with the back end in mind. What I mean about back end - is what does the book lead them to do next. What is the next step for you?
For me, when I created 31 Days to Millionaire Marketing Miracles, the back end was coaching where I would teach you how to create a business online - take you through the book so to speak. So before you put pen to paper, what is your back end? Then I take it even further, how to take the content from that book, and spread it over many different streams of revenue. When I first got started in internet marketing - my first product was a book. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
I would not recommend this per say, but it was the route I chose. The reason I don’t recommend it -
it is a lot of work, takes a long time, and at the end you have a great business card. So instead, I often place this in the middle after you have built your content from a coaching program, and can quickly format that into a book.
The reason - the information is already in your head. Put together a promise and what you are willing to do for what amount of money - and you’re in business. Sell this, document the process, make the book. Then you have the natural back end as well. But having said I wouldn’t go that route - I lucked out. I created my book, and it launched to #1 on Amazon on April 13th, 2007, and then stayed at the top 2% for 4 years. Both of those were very specific strategies I applied, and because it hit #1 - and got lots of attention and buyers, those buyers contacted me from the promotion in my book and asked if I could coach them through the book.
The back end coaching. In a few months I had made 6 figures, won new internet marketing success of the year from the Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
World Internet Summit, was flown all expenses paid from California to Singapore to appear on my very first stage in front of 3400 people and that launched my speaking career. The beauty of all of it - is the same information from the book, is spread across all of the other streams of income. So you aren’t constantly trying to make new data, and your message can be very clear on what you teach. The key to launching your content across multiple streams of income is as follows; Pick the highest revenue stream first Get that working, stable, and making money Use that to get paid to create the next logical in-
come stream Set the next income stream in place and launch The key is DO NOT move to another income stream until one is stable. If you do you will find yourself spread very thin, frantically creating and posting information into deliverable formats, and not having a stable income to live off of, and feed you and your business. E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive Page 115
My current recommended path is;
coaching speaking webinar/teleseminars seminars and workshops cds/DVDs the book + kindle (eBook) membership site
The reason for that route is the data is created in such a way in the prior step, that it’s easy to move into the necessary format for the next revenue stream. Now the next logical question you may ask is what about the funnel. The landing page, to free gift, to offer? Where does that fit in. It fits perfectly when you add a free consult call as part of your ‘giveaway’ once they have opted in.
Should you sell a low cost item first automatically - sure - let your autoresponders handle that for you. It’s what they are there for to educate and enlighten and test the waters of your list. But the fastest way to the cash is free strategy session. Have them fill out a questionnaire with the answers you need to know what pain they need
remedied, and then upsell to an upper level program you have that remedies that pain. It’s the age old market of supply and demand. They are in demand of a remedy for their pain, and you have it. So can you go out of that order - definitely. Will it still work - yes. But this is all about speed to market, and making life simple for you, and the bottom line for making it work and building your business empire - is to do whatever it takes to make it go right, and take the easiest path you can to the fastest cash.

The Alchemist By Paulo Coehlo
The Alchemist (novel) has inspired a devoted following around the world. This story is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasure found within. Many celebrities have declared The Alchemist is their favorite novel. Bill Clinton was spotted with a copy of the book, and Will Smith, Madonna or Malala, among many others, have declared it is their favorite novel. On 2014, Oprah Winfrey interviewed Pharrell Williams, who also explained The Alchemist changed his life. Page 118 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
Paulo Coelho was born in Brazil] and attended a Jesuit school. As a teenager, Coelho wanted to become a writer. Upon telling his mother this, she responded with "My dear, your father is an engineer. He's a logical, reasonable man with a very clear vision of the world. Do you actually know what it means to be a writer?" After researching, which was common for him since he was a policy debater when he was in high school, Coelho concluded that a writer "always wears glasses and never combs his hair" and has a "duty and an obligation never to be understood by his own generation," amongst other things.[2]At 16, Coelho's introversion and opposition to following a traditional path led to his parents committing him to a mental institution from which he escaped three times before being released at the age of 20.[3] [4] Coelho later remarked that " Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

his parents' wishes, Coelho enrolled in law school and abandoned his dream of becoming a writer. One year later, he dropped out and lived life as ahippie, traveling through South America, North Africa, Mexico, and Europe and started using drugs in the 1960s.[6][7] Upon his return to Brazil, Coelho worked as a songwriter, composing lyrics for Elis Regina, Rita Lee, and Brazilian icon Raul Seixas. Composing with Raul led to Paulo being associated with magic and occultism, due to the content of some songs. In 1974, Coelho was arrested for "subversive" activities by the ruling military government, who had taken power ten years earlier and viewed his Page 119 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive
lyrics as left-wing and dangerous. Coelho also worked as an actor, journalist, and theatre director before pursuing his writing career. In 1986, Coelho walked the 500-plus mile Road of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain, a turning point in his life.[6][9] On the path, Coelho had a spiritual awakening, which he described autobiographically in The Pilgrimage. In an interview, Coelho stated "[In 1986], I was very happy in the things I was doing. I was doing something that gave me food and water – to use the metaphor in "The Alchemist", I was working, I had a person whom I loved, I had money, but I was not fulfilling my dream. My dream was, and still is, to be a writer." Coelho would leave his lucrative career as a songwriter and pursue writing full-time. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html
