Chiten Jamir Memorial Government High School (GHS) Changtongya during a programme held at GHS building Changtongya October 7 with Minister for National Highway, Mechanical Engineering &Soil and Water Conservation, Nuklutoshi as chief guest. Speaking at the programme, minister Nuklutoshi acknowledged the good works of R.C. Chiten Jamir and said: “R.C. Chiten Jamir was one of the pioneers of Nagaland state who did many memorable developmental activities”. He

Chiten Jamir was presented by Imnaoen Jamir, Akhoya. SDO (civil) Changtongya M.S. Tangpong delivered the concluding words. Students of R.C. Chiten Jamir Memorial GHS Changtongya presented a special number. Public leaders, village council chairmen, members, GBs of Akhoya and Changtongya villages and heads of offices in Chantongya town attended the programme.

Power shutdown in Dimapur Oct 9 DIMAPUR: Department of power, electrical division, Dimapur has informed public that there would shut down of power supply on October 9, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. for clearance of trees at Padhumpukuri areas near power line which would be jointly carried out by power department and forest department. Dimapur electrical division executive Moameren informed that 33KV line to referral station and 11KV feeder from Burma camp would also be shut down during the mentioned time. Areas to be effected includes 5th mile area, Sovima, Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) Referral hospital, Sugar Mill, Rongmei colony, Agri Expo Area, Agri Colony, 4th Mile Area. Lotha colony, CRPF camp, Airport, Chekiye, Model Colony, Purana bazaar, Mount view colony, Jorapukhri, Padhumpukheri, Aoyimti, Eralibill, Hollohen colony, Walford Area, part of Naharbari. Public have been requested to bear the inconveniences.

Requisition of vehicles for bye-polls

Dimapur: The deputy commissioner (DC) and returning officer (RO), Kohima has notified for requisitioning of vehicles, premises etc, for the bye election to the 11-Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency. Any vehicle, premises etc belonging to private persons or institution/organization so requisitioned would be entitled for compensation under Sec. 161 of the R.P. Act of 1951.

Correspondent MOKOKCHUNG: The third ‘Late Pangersowa Trust Award for Academic Excellence’ was given to 16-year-old Sungtiben Jamir of Monsenyimti village at a formal felicitation programme organized at the Langpangkong Salang, Chuchuyimlang by Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) October 4. Founder Secretary, Nagaland Gandhi Asram, Natwar Thakkar was the chief guest. Sungtiben Jamir, who secured 14th position in HSLC Examinations 2014, thanked her parents and teachers for being the pillar of success. Sungtiben was presented the Award by Mrs. Thakkar, which included a cash amount

of Rs.10,000 and certificate. It may be noted that the Trust Award is given to HSLC toppers to students belonging to Langpangkong Range. Speaking at the programme, Natwar Thakkar said he was happy to witness Nagaland develop, but at the same time expressed sadness to witness people plagued with alcoholism, substance abuse etc. Asserting he had been ‘a soldier of Gandhi’ for the past many years, Thakkar maintained Nagas of today should shy away from the want for physical and material progress. DAN informs on shifting daily bazaar Aloe Vera Soap making training underway

Dimapur: Development Authority of Nagaland (DAN) has informed that the daily bazaar at Naga Shopping Arcade (NSA), Dimapur, would be shifted to the newly constructed DAN bazaar at Nagarjan road side

within a month. All the existing vendors at NSA have been directed to complete the formalities for fresh allotment within one month failing which the allotment of shed would be considered to the new applicants.

DC Kma restricts govt vehicles for political ads

Director of industries and commerce, Kohima Keneilel Angami inaugurating Special Handloom Expo at Urban Haat, Dimapur Tuesday. The Expo is sponsored by office of development commissioner (handloom) ministries of textiles, New Delhi and organized by Nagaland Handloom and handicrafts development cooperation limited. Honje Konyak has informed for necessary compliance by all concerned that in the interest of conduct of free and fair election, the Election Commission of India has directed that State Road Transport Corporation buses and buses owned by Municipal Corporations etc., and other government owned vehicles shall not be used for display of political advertisements during the period when model code of conduct is in force in connection with elections to the House of the People or State Legislative Assembly or State Legislative Council from Council Constituencies.

DIMAPUR: A seven-day training programme for 40 participants of three different Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Dimapur district for Aloe Vera soap making and its byproducts got underway at State Horticulture Nursery, 4th Mile, Dimapur October 6. The training programme is being sponsored by the department of horticulture, under the scheme of Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalayan Region (HMNEH), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. SSPN undertakes tour to Amritsar

Dimapur: As part of training, 74 cadets of Class X escorted by two teachers went to Amritsar for their annual motivational cum educational trip from September 26 to October 5. During the trip that lasted for ten days, the Cadets were taken to Wagha Border (IndiaPakistan border) where they had the rare opportunity to see the Retreat Parade of the armies of the two countries. Other historical places like the Golden Temple and Jallian-Walla-Bagh were also visited by the cadets. Besides, the cadets were also taken to the Armored Regiment and Artillery Regiment where they were given the opportunity to see and learn much about various types of tanks and artillery guns. They also had a rare opportunity to ride on tanks. On their way back, they halted in Delhi and visited Red Fort, Qutab Minar and other historical places. The cadets had a wonderful time of fun and learning while at the same time got the opportunity to get to know the diverse traditions of the country.
