Kma DDMA discusses IDRN, reinforcing COVID protocol

DIMAPUR: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) quarter meeting was held at DPDB Hall Kohima on September 15.

According to a DIPR report, highlighting an overview of India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN), senior technical director and DIO, DIC Kohima, J.G Lorin Rengma stated that IDRN was a nationwide electronic inventory of resources that enlists equipment and human resources, collated from districts, states and national level line departments and agencies.

He informed that it was a web-based platform for managing the inventory of equipment, skilled human resources and critical supplies for emergency response. Lorin added that primary focus of IDRN portal (idrn.nidm.gov.in) was to enable decision makers to find answers on availability of equipment and human resources required to combat any emergency situation which database would also enable them to assess the level of preparedness for specific disasters.

He also informed that, to update data in IDRN, district collectors or magistrate were authorised officials to get the latest information about disaster management resources available with various line departments and agencies and were uploaded in the portal, using services of district informatics officers. During the meeting, CMO Kohima informed that positivity rate of COVID-19 has been declining to 2.6% from September 10 till date. She suggested the members to reinforce covid protocol to minimise the impact of third wave and that the second dose vaccine would be available at any of the sub-centres every Wednesday in Kohima town.

Earlier, the meeting was chaired by DC Kohima Gregory Thejawelie, who also informed line departments to prepare disaster management action plan within one month. DIMAPUR: Govern ment Polytechnic Kohima (GPK) in association with the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) organised a three-day webinar on the theme, “igniting young minds” on September 6-8.

In a press release, the organisers stated that the webinar was aimed to educate the students of GPK on various relevant topics such as cyber security, internet of things, pavement recycling and entrepreneurship. In the inaugural session, officer on special duty, directorate of technical education, Tiakaba Amer congratulated the institute for organizing the webinar series and evinced hope that it would help the institute in acquiring accreditation by national board of accreditation. Later, lecturer, department of computer science and engineering, Er. Abeno Odyuo highlighted the advantages of becoming an institutional member of ISTE and the setting up of a students’ chapter at GPK.

The resource persons were deputy director, NIELIT, Er. A. Morimenba Amer; assistant professor School of Engineering and Technology, Nagaland University, Er. Shanchamo Yanthan; lecturer Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) Er. Teakum Ao; joint director, MSME-DI, Tali Longchar and assistant director MSME-DI, Dimapur, Selwin Samraj. The faculty of GPK moderated the sessions and collected feedback from the participants.

DTCC Kiphire conducts seminar

DIMAPUR: District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Kiphire conducted a seminar on Tobacco Free Educational Institutions/Schools in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC) office, Kiphire on September 14. In a press release, district media officer Haichikambe Pame informed that during the seminar, short speeches were delivered by ADC Kiphire, Rahul Mali and district education officer Kiphire, Deenabandhu Panda. Earlier, welcome and keynote address was delivered by district nodal officer, NTCP Kiphire, Dr. N Moa Jamir while psychologist district hospital Kiphire, Kedorianuo Sirie presented the guidelines for tobacco free educational institutions & orientation, ToFEI App. The closing remark was proposed by junior dental surgeon, district hospital Kiphire Dr. Wekhrou Mero. Altogether, 30 teachers from 16 schools, both government and private attended the seminar during which all the 16 schools were registered on ToFEI App. DC Phek informs: Deputy commissioner Phek, Razouvolie Dozo has informed that there would be total restriction of traffic movement through Pfutsero-Phek ongoing 2-lane road (existing km 45+700 to Km 51+200) from 10 p.m.-5 a.m., till September 24 to facilitate speedy completion of 2-lane works of PfutseroPhek road. The public have been advised to avoid travelling in the stretch during the stipulated time. ANHTU Peren informs: All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU) Peren unit observed Hindi Diwas and held general election wherein Kewidinbo Zeliang was elected as president and Bamdi Zeliang as general secretary along with seven other members for the tenure 2021-2024. 173 Bn CRPF observes Hindi diwas: 173 Bn CRPF, Dimapur celebrated Hindi Diwas from September 1-15 where Vishnu Gautam, 173 Bn CRPF read out the message from DG CRPF Kuldeep Singh. He also gave away prizes to the winners of essay and Hindi typing competition.

SF nab OGW; recover explosive

SF and police personnel along with the apprehended OGW and recovered items.

DIMAPUR: Security forces in a joint operation with the state police apprehended an over ground worker (OGW) with “warlike stores” at Nagaland Gate, Dimapur on September 10.

According to PRO IGAR (N), based on a specific input, the joint team recovered 4.75 kg of PEK explosive.

The apprehended individual along with recovered “warlike store” was handed over to west police station for further investigation, PRO informed
