How can we promote the habit of reading English books among our students? Reading is a great exercise to the mind. It is a food for the thoughts. It releases the tension and makes our mind free. ‘Reading maketh the man’, the maxim goes, Books are our best friends. He who keeps books as his companion will not feel any sort of depression or disappointment, knowing all these things present generation students have no interest in reading books. They are highly interested only in multimedia. How can we promote the habit of reading English books among our students, is a big question mark? We sincerely believe that the children learn more from the seniors and by watching others. It is a well-known truth that children do not like to take advice instead they will follow elder’s path. They take elders as their role model. So first of all, elders should read books Infront of them. Sufficient books should be kept in store for the students to choose and read. Students’ interest and taste vary from one student to another.
So that a variety of books can be kept for them. We have to understand their interest before buying book is the best method. Whenever we go for any shopping, we must bring at least one book that rule should be there. There is a tendency that all are very happy to spend money for anything and everything like food, clothes, play material and other things. When it comes for books, they ask so many questions like why.. what … Teachers can inspire, encourage and motivate the students by gifting books to the students and motivating them to read. They can show right path. Teachers can spend some time in discussing books and authors. This method will definitely help children improve their reading habits. There are many methods of reading like relay reading, loud reading, silent reading, deep reading, skimming, scanning etc. In relay reading, students read and pass the book to the others to read.
SEPTEMBER 2020 - 001
They can also present review of the books orally or in a written form. During birthdays or any special occasions, family members and teachers can present a book to the students as birthday gift. Read books with them and also encourage the students to read books. For the parents who are unable to afford expensive books can go for used books which are for sale at a cheaper rate or low cost. All these tips can help the students to read better. Children need to have a record of their read books, how many days there have taken to read a book, the name of the author and page numbers. why they liked it. Whether they liked it or not, what could be the conclusion and the climax other than the authors point of view. Teaches can start a WhatsApp group for book lovers and readers, in which they read and share and also enjoy the task of reading.
Reading English books should be instilled and inculcated in the younger minds of the students, then only their mind will be channelized in a right manner and will not be diverted or deviated to other wrong habits. they will realize the greatness of reading book in the young age itself. If this book reading habit is developed in the young age they will surely be benefited in the old age. Books act as a friend, mentor, guide and a great philosopher. If it is not developed in this period, they will not learn at all. All habits can be formed and groomed in the school days and college days only.

My Childhood memories
Hi friends. Wanna come with me for a trip down the memory lane. Well it’s not a lane anymore. It’s a Highway now. Imagine a big Highway of memories. I’m talking about an incident that happened loooong back.
SEPTEMBER 2020 - 005
First let me introduce you to my school which I had to leave after I passed my primary school education ie Std. IV because it was co-ed only till that class. Post to that it was only for girls. Its name was Mount Carmel School. It stood in the quiet neighbourhood of Dhantoli in quieter Nagpur city. As soon as you enter it was Std I at the left, yes, all the four sections A, B, C, D. On the right was a big Music hall with a dais on the left and a small piano on the right with the ever-smiling Sister Nympha taught us music, Hymns and Christmas Carols. And yes, some soft children songs like “An old man farmer had a farm.. EEa EEa O”. And I was one of her favorite students. Well between the hall and the Std I there was a staircase leading to the first floor where on your left was Principal’s room and after that Std II rooms and on the right was Std III classes. Above that was Std IV class. Now you would wonder why I told you the entire Geography of the school. Well, Std II children had a curfew not to cross over the line and wander towards the Std III classrooms. If they did it even by mistake their “seniors” would take them to task. They would scold them for coming there without earning it. Same applied to the fellows from the same class but a different section. They were considered no better than “aliens”. So now that you’re aware of the entire essential geography and the conditions that prevailed then, the story begins. There were two of my best friends, Shamsher Singh Khurana and Minol Deshpande. We always had lunch together and even had benches one after the other. We had a cool chatter during breaks. We also had a mini celebration on any of our birthdays. In those days celebration would mean distribution of chocolates to all the children of our class and all the teachers of all the classes. Birthday meant a day which meant no study and going around the school during classes. Well, Shamsher was
the healthiest among us and Minol was the meekest. I was no better but at least did not show this. Now there was a boy named Ashish in Section “A” and we were in Section “C” of the Std III. One day Minol was running towards the class after the start of break and he accidentally bumped into Ashish. Both fell and other people laughed. Minol got up and said sorry to Ashish but he flared up and a mini fight started. As I told Minol was the meekest, he tried to avoid the fight by running from the battlefield as he was in front of Ashish’s classroom and our classroom was two rooms behind. So he was in “enemy area”. Minol somehow gave him a slip and managed to run to safety. Ashish chased him and forgot when he entered the “enemy area” for him ie Section ‘C’. Minol was now under our safety cover and we took out the wooden scales (yes. They used to be our weapons in those days). Seeing him protected and he himself in an alien land, Ashish threatened him and left. Behind him we were booing him. However, in the evening we shook hands and were besties again. We still are. Minol stays in US, Shamsher stays where he was (bang opposite the school) and me , after wandering the globe, am in Nagpur again. We do not meet often but still are in touch with each other, wish each other on their birthdays and still cherish that brotherly bond which only true childhood friends do. And yes, Ashish is also a good friend even today. Gone are the days …. Memories remain….

Improving Students' Relationships with Teachers to Provide Essential Supports for Learning Positive relationships can also help a student develop socially Improving students' relationships with teachers has important, positive and long-lasting implications for both students' academic and social development. Solely improving students' relationships with their teachers will not produce gains in achievement. However, those students who have close, positive and supportive relationships with their teachers will attain higher levels of achievement than those students with more conflict in their relationships. Picture a student who feels a strong personal connection to her teacher, talks with her teacher frequently, and receives more constructive guidance and praise rather than just criticism from her teacher. The student is likely to trust her teacher more, show more engagement in learning, behave better in class and achieve at higher levels academically. Positive teacher-student relationships draw students into the process of learning and promote their desire to learn (assuming that the content material of the class is engaging, age-appropriate and well matched to the student's skills).
High quality academic instruction is designed to be appropriate to students' educational levels. It also creates opportunity for thinking and analysis, uses feedback effectively to guide students' thinking, and extends students' prior knowledge. Student-teacher relationship scale It is a teacher-report instrument designed for elementary school teachers. This instrument measures a teacher's perception of conflict, closeness and dependency with a specific child. Another instrument designed for teachers of middle and high school is the teacher-student relationship inventory . It measures teachers' satisfaction with their students, the help they perceive they are offering to their students and their level of conflict with their students. Classroom assessment scoring system examines the presence of supportive relationships in the classroom. This system measures teachers' sensitivity as well as positive and negative climate in the classroom. Different forms of this instrument are available for preschool through twelfth grade. Assessment of learner-centered practices is a set of validated survey instruments designed for teachers and students. These surveys, each designed for a different age group (grades K-3, 4-8 and 9-12), provide teachers with tools for self-assessment and reflection . The emphasis of this work has been to identify discrepancies between teacher and student perceptions in order to assist teachers as they reflect upon and change their practices; this process focuses on student learning and motivational outcomes, as well as the classroom practices that contribute most to maximizing these outcomes. EDUCATION
FALGUNI GHEDIA Amitee CSC Academy Jamnagar Knowing One’s Capability Audience : Grade 5th – Grade 12th Once there was a kid studying in grade 5th. His teachers, friends and his classmates all used to think he was the dumbest fellow in the class and good for nothing. His grades were so less that he himself felt the same. His report card showed his poor performance in the class but he was not bothered about it and he used to say the same to his mother “not to worry about sayings of other as it doesn’t matter him much.” His mother knew about her son’s capability and also knew that he was not reaching his full potential at school. So she set three rules for him to follow. First rule was that he would be allowed to watch two selected TV serials / shows per week. Second rule was that he had to finish his homework before watching TV or play outside. Third rule was that he had to read two books from library each week and write a book report on each of them. Kid was distressed at these new rules and tried very hard to talk to his mother for some liberalization but his mother was so stubborn at her rules for kid. Kid couldn’t think of disobeying his mother, so he had to follow those rules.
After long he saw the fruits of his efforts, when he was only one who knew an answer to a question that his teacher asked the class. All the classmates and teachers were surprised that a kid who used to be the dumbest child could answer such a hard question. Kid was surprised too and realized that his knowledge came from books he was reading. He began to believe that just by reading few books at library he can learn few facts then he could learn anything. Kid continued his path of success and became academic leader in his school. His mother knew that his boy was capable and always decided not to settle for less and gave him structure he worth. The boy who was considered as the dumbest kid in class 5th became a world famous surgeon. That boy is Sir Benjamin Carson who is a famous and renowned neurosurgeon, author and politician.
Moral: Everyone has capability. One just need to believe in it and follow disciplined way to utilize that capability fully. Be stubborn about your goals and flexible about your methods Stay tuned for more interesting motivational and inspirational stories …

SPIRITUALITY
Mayank Goel, B. Tech. Hons. EEE and M.Sc. Hons. Mathematics from BITS Pilani, currently working as a full-stack engineer in HSBC Pune is exploring the path of Bhakti Yoga under the guidance of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada (Founder-Acharya of World Wide Hare Krishna Movement). He is an active coordinator at the Bhagavad Gita Daily initiative wherein youngsters like him are reading Bhagavad Gita every day between 8 : 20pm and 9 pm in small groups of 8 to 10 enthusiasts each. Who am I ? Hare Krishna! I remember back when I was not in touch with Krishna consciousness, I used to take solace in churning on questions about rules in society, friendship, and love. At that time, I felt quite satisfied with what I had. Looking at it now, I cannot help smile at my innocence. This is true even now for most of us. We get spiritually inclined sometimes but are never really serious to really understand these topics. I consider myself highly fortunate to have been able to systematically study such topics over the years through Srila Prabhupada’s books. dehino ‘smin yathā dehe kaumāra yauvana jarā tathā dehāntara-prāptir dhīras tatra na muhyati “As the embodied soul continually passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. The self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change.” — Bhagavad Gita, 2.13 Lord Krishna gives a simple, yet brilliant logic. We were born an infant and grew up into a young child.
Then we grew to be a youth. One day, we will be old. In fact, reminiscing old memories is quite a pastime these days. We share photographs of our old selves or that of others and play at identifying the person. It is only those rare occasions when we are able to make out one from his childhood picture. So in this life itself, we can see we have changed our bodies but our identification is not changing. This thing which is remaining the same is us, we refer to as the soul. Lord Krishna doesn’t stop with the logic there. He further extrapolates this logic and says that if within this life we continue to exist although the various bodies which have ceased to exist, then by the same logic, when we die, this body will be destroyed, but we will continue to exist. Not being able to remember our previous life is what many will consider being conclusive that we didn’t exist. However, mere forgetfulness of an incident does not prove that it did not happen.I find it difficult to recall sometimes what I was doing yesterday at this exact time, so it does not mean I was not existing yesterday. We don’t remember so many things in life. That doesn’t mean that those incidents did not happen. SEPTEMBER 2020 - 009
In fact, the characteristic of changing bodies is that we forget. Just like we forget so many things we did as a child, but our parents remember. Forgetfulness is the result of changing bodies. Hence when we change the body at death, we forget everything related to it. What is important to understand is that as a spirit soul, we don’t belong to this material condition. We all have got some experience of being disturbed. I have witnessed so many times while commuting by the metro, how people from remote locations of Delhi used to be perplexed due to their inexperience in the system. Similarly, we feel seasick when we are out on the sea for very long because we are not used to the sea. If we are not in an unnatural situation, then there shouldn’t be any disturbance. I am within this body, each one of us. I am not this body. Just like a gentleman, he is within his shirt and coat. Further, we can question ourselves. Why do we say, “My hand, my body, my belonging”. We never say, “I hand or I body!” This shows that we are possessors of this body. As long as we are there in the body, the body is working. As soon as the spirit soul leaves the body, the same beloved of all is no longer desirable. This is also verified in Bhagavad-gītā (3.9). There are many reasons why many people don’t really acknowledge this. The fabric of today’s society is based on consumerism. If people didn’t think that this is the only life they have got to enjoy, they would not prove to be such good consumers. They would rather be more thoughtful about what they were doing towards mitigating the need to take up a new body repeatedly. Another reason is fear. When people see that this life is so full of distress, they fear an eternal existence. This stems from an incomplete understanding of ourselves. It is mention in Srimad Bhagawatam:
So many Sanskrit words, right! Let’s understand one by one. ‘Nirantaram’, means “nondifferent” or “of the same quality.” The individual soul is also expressed here as ‘aimānam’. Aimānam means “infinitesimal.” The Supreme Spirit is all-pervading, but the very small spirit is the individual soul. ‘Akhaitam’ means not exactly “fragmented” but “constitutionally always infinitesimal.” No one can separate the molecular parts of the sunshine from the sun, but at the same time, the molecular part of the sunshine is not as expansive as the sun itself. Similarly, the living entity, by his constitutional position, is qualitatively the same as the Supreme Spirit, but he is infinitesimal. So we are always having a loving relationship with Krishna, who is not just our origin but that of everything there is. So naturally, we are related to everyone and everything in an indirect but loving relationship. There is no question of fearing that we will be mistreated as we have experienced in this life. We have the same qualities as that of our origin, Krishna has. The imperfections we now experience are only on account of this body which is made of matter and is bound to wear and tear. In our present situation, I am seeing your body, you are seeing my body, nobody is seeing the actual person. This is like getting stuck in the dress and we can come out of this false understanding very easily by the association of like-minded people and by hearing from pure devotees who have devoted their lives to this subject matter. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
MANSI SHARMA B.A - Journalism, M.A - Mass Communication
Incredible India needs empowered women.
God considered women so strong that they chose women to give infinite powers to create the creation. Then why does society despise her as feeble? Why are women not given the same rights as men? Why is there so much discrimination between women and men? Behind this perception is the narrow mindset that has been going on since ancient time. But there is a need to change this mindset for the complete progressive development of the country. As rightly mentioned by our honourable prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi in one of his speeches. “Women constitute 50% of our population and if they don’t come out and work , then our country will never grow at the pace we all envision it to grow. He emphasised to empower women so that they can take their own decisions and can participate in the race of making our India into “Incredible India” In our country, to empower women, first of all it is necessary to kill all those monstrous practices that kill the basic rights and values of a woman in a society i.e., dowry, illiteracy, sexual violence, inequality, feticide, domestic violence, rape, Prostitution and human trafficking.
Gender discrimination is the foremost reason that bring cultural, social and economic differences in the nation that put the women in our country backward . Empowering women through the right to equality as mentioned in the Constitution of India is the most effective way to eradicate all such evils. Government over a period of time have taken special care to enact and amend laws to ensure greater participation of women in the growth of the nation. Today we are standing in 21st centaury. Whether it is urban or rural area, women have established their dominance from ground to sky. Provided they are not deprived of their rights, have the freedom to make their own decisions and are free from the shackles of house bondage. In rural areas, women are not only becoming self reliant, but also making other women of the village self-sufficient. But still, there are some houses too where the discrimination with women remains the same. Through the means of spreading education and creating awareness towards the rights of women ,we will definitely break this mindset. A lot of changes have come and more will be coming in the years ahead. The tiny steps taken by women today towards the women empowerment will definitely become a source of inspiration for others. Organic Farming is the future of the Agriculture. Agriculture is the backbone of human existence. Agriculture has to be healthy and sustainable. We need to focus on promoting organic agriculture. The unplanned industrialization, urbanization, and pollution have made every eatable vegetable, food grains, fruits, milk, etc. highly adulterated. As a result, Cancer is affecting people. Man has suddenly woken up to his erroneous and faulty living style. People are demanding organic food. More and more people are growing organic food grains, vegetables, milk products, fruits etc.
Mr Narendra Modi asking the farmers to adopt organic farming and greater use of organic fertilizers in the wake of rising global demand for organic crops. Organic Farming are more profitable and environmentally friendly, and deliver equally or more nutritious foods that contain less (or no) pesticide residues, compared with conventional farming. India has achieved rapid growth in organic agriculture and now become one of the largest organic producers in the world .Therefore, organic farming has a great impact on the health of nation like India by ensuring sustainable development.

HOBBY SPECIAL

GARDENING A STRESSBUSTER I believe "A garden is a friend you can visit anytime!" Gardens are not just plants growing together in your balcony or the backyard. Some call gardening as an art. And those of you who are into it for years will nod your agreement. It all starts with the beginning. The moment you start a garden, they become a part of your life. The plants become your children. Like a mother who nurtures, nourishes, protects and stands by her children, you become attached to the plants. You ensure they are alive, fresh and are thriving well every day. You go overboard and make investments to beautify and make them most attractive. Because you just don’t want to own a garden – you want to be known as the proud owner of a magnificent garden!
And every gardener becomes an expert over a period – he or she learns the tricks to make it better, learn ways to make their garden look the best, do intelligent things to grow the plants in the given conditions. Like any other field, with practice comes perfection in gardening as well. Gardening is the practice of growing and cultivating plants as part of horticulture. In gardens, ornamental plants are often grown for their flowers, foliage, or overall appearance; useful plants, such as root vegetables, leaf vegetables, fruits, and herbs, are grown for consumption, for use as dyes, or for medicinal or cosmetic use. Gardening is considered by many people to be a relaxing activity. I do gardening because its my hobby and it helps me to keep calm. The arrangement I have made have many different plants like jade plant ,Cappella Live Moon Cactus (Red),Fittonia and Haworthia plant. Their colour combination compliments each other and it makes my arrangement look more attractive. Following are the reasons why I used these plants in my arrangement. SEPTEMBER 2020 - 019
Jade plant Jade presence in the house or office is considered auspicious. This beautiful succulent plant has vibrant green leaves that are symbolic of growth and renewal, closely resembling jade coins/stones, symbolic of wealth and prosperity. The Jade plant gives off nourishing “chi” the positive energy. It is a traditional gift for businesses and business owners place. A Jade Plant near the entrance of restaurants or shops, or in a southeast location brings prosperity and success. It reflects vibrant, well-rooted energy. That’s an ever-expanding energy you would like to see reflected in newfound money. The money tree plant is supposed to produce positive vibrations that will bring prosperity to the owner of the house or business. Cappella Live Moon Cactus (Red) The moon cactus look like living lollipops with their straight, dark green “stick” and the boldly colored spherical top. These succulents can survive in indoor settings, though they do not have a long life as they are a hybrid of two plants. Fittonia Fittonia albivenis is an evergreen, perennial plant forming a low-grown, dense mat of growth about 8cm tall. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine. A very attractive plant, valued especially for its dense growth habit and colourful patterning of the leaves - it is often grown in the tropical garden, especially as a ground cover in shady positions, and is also grown as a house plant, often in hanging baskets Haworthia plant Haworthias are almost always small and very (very) slow growing plants. They don't need much fuss or care and can even go many weeks without water if required. They also tend to look brilliant in unusual containers or interesting soil mixes. These perks mean they can make fantastic easy care gifts and presents for all types of people, suiting either a home or office environment.
They'll get by with not a great deal of fuss or attention provided they're placed in a room with average warmth, away from direct sunlight and given the occasional drink. Why should you choose gardening as a hobby? -Gardening Keeps You Active. -Gardening is Good for Health. -Gardening Makes you Patient. -Gardening Keeps you Satisfied. -Gardening teaches you about Responsibility. And the list goes on. I hope my arrangement will encourage you in gardening. Swati Salunke

WOMAN ICON
SANGEETA MAHAJAN NAGPUR - MAHARASHTRA Sangeeta Mahajan is an activist-photographer who has proven that camera is a double edged sword which can fight against injustices. In addition, it possesses a poetic lens which zooms into beautiful horizons. The journey was not on bed of roses but on thorns, slums, jail etc She spent her childhood and adolesence in slum dwellings and the reapt of success after a series of hardships. She fondly bagged a good deal of awards including the Fuji International Award. For her, it is a mark of prestige that her photos are met with due credit in the international dailies like London Times and London Independence. Her mother was a Marxian and a Gandhian rolled into one. Without her high spirited perspectives, she would definitely have ended up as an ordinary slum girl. During her childhood, they had shifted from Yavatmal district to a slum near Nagpur town. Male alcoholics who mercilessly beat their wife and children were in abundance. Another time, one had threatened them in their hut with a knife. But she and her mother managed to resist him properly so that he never appeared again.
The boldness and courage embraced by her mother nourished her well. That strengthened her from the root itself. Even in the midst of adversities she raised the spirit her social commitment alive. She organized the women in their area and made the debut for Jagruthi Mahila Mandal. She exhibited a flair for photography since her childhood. With her mother’s support, she hired a Nikon camera and started working as a freelancer. In the arena of female photographers in Nagpur town, her entrance was the debut. Simultaneously, there were attempts in abundance to alienate her. Slowly, she got noticed in the world of media as she was able to encounter the enigma called life as well as its ebbs and flows. Her photographs were consecutively published in dailies like Telegraph, Times of India, Hitavada and Maya. In 1993, an adivasi agitation took place in Nagpur. As a result of the rampant lathi charge 113 people died, including women and kids. Her photographs regarding this miserable event got published in the international media like London Times and London Independence.
SEPTEMBER 2020 - 021
It paved the way to ensure her substantiveness as a professional photographer. In the 1996 World Cup Cricket held in Nagpur, she won the International Fuji Award for The Shot of the Day.For the next five years she worked as the staff photographer in Indian Express. When she was transferred to Pune, she resigned . Her next resolution was to go back to the domain of professional photography and gain a foothold there. The setting of Prathibimb Communications was a reflection of that. The projects of mega events, corporate institutions and government departments were in store. But skepticism arose in general as the endeavors were carried out by a woman. Her works erased off all their anxieties. Social commitment is an active constituent of her life. She started 4D Photographer's Club in order to excel children who are interested in this field. Over 2000 students have studied photography here. Simultaneously, exhibitions, discussions and workshops are conducted. In 2008, many huts were burned in Chikli, a slum near Kalamna in the town. This incident occurred incessantly. Once she placed a photo of the burning huts in Variety Square the heart of the city. It bore the caption Normally Burnt or Deliberately Set on Fire? Flagrant responses arose from the spectators. She actively participated in Anti-Posco Strike and Narmada agitation. She was awarded the International Kala- Maharishi Keki Moos Photography Award in 2009. She won the Woman of the Excellence Award given by Swaraved in 2013. Sangeeta Mahajan is progressing with her inspiring success story and versatile talents. Her flag flies high in a field which has been reserved for the unending series of patriarchal tyranny. Her story of success explicitly depicts the history of herculean tasks which she has completed.
And if you ask her about the source of this vital energy which she pursues, she will reply that it was those times when she was hard pressed for the basic security which a house can offer; by living under the leaking plastic roofs of a hut in the slum. She has become the epitome of an empowered woman. Written by Mr. Gopi Aniyadi in Malayalam and translated in English by Dr. Anjana J. Edited by Bhavneet Kaur

APURAV DEVGON Principal I Punjab Dear Friends I daily go to Kotkapura from Faridkot. The distance between these two cities is about 15km. Due to “Over Bridge” construction I daily go by Highway on which there is no “Petrol Pump”. Four years back when I was shifted to Kotkapura I saw many people dragging their vehicles. From that day only I always carry a bottle full of “Petrol” in my car and share it to the needy. I feel very happy when they shower their blessings on me. Sometimes people offer money also, which I have never taken. All the students in my school know my habit and why I share these moments with them… Just because when I am not there, this process should not stop… Even if only one of them follows my footprints, I will feel that my job as an educationist is done… Here is my new poem “Be the reason for someone’s smile…” “Be the reason for someone’s smile..” If you can help a person, You are not great, But lucky, That,
The Almighty God, Gave you a chance, To be the reason for someone’s smile… But why He chose you only, You must think. He gave you this opportunity, Because He believed, Through you, He could send the reward to one, who deserved it, the most, And to whom the gift belonged. He cannot come Himself, But He Knows, Some of His messengers, Will pass His gifts to the most deserved person, Without thinking of any reward for themselves, In return, He gave such messengers a blessing, That they will never lack anything in life, And every time someone comes to them for help, They will be the reason of such peoples smile. I believe. “To be the reason for someone’s smile, in itself is the best gift if you realize.” Apurav Devgon

IMPORTANCE OF READING Reading is one of the most pleasurable hobbies and past times that one can have. It is said that “books are our best friends” and therefore reading books is one hobby that not only entertains us but also benefits us. Why is reading so important? The importance of reading cannot be underestimated. Reading newspapers, magazines and good books helps students to expand their knowledge base and make them more intelligent and wise. Students who read voraciously do better academically and fare better in debates, essay writing competitions and general knowledge quizzes. This is because when the students read, they have to block out unnecessary thoughts in the mind and concentrate only on the book at hand. They would have to focus on what they are reading and when doing so, since they have made the effort themselves, they would therefore not forget it.
Reading helps students know what is happening in other countries and in the universe. Students read about History and Geography, Maths and Science and thus remain more knowledgeable and practical. They notice the illustrations and become better in art and design. Their vocabulary improves and they are more adept in quoting beautiful quotations and sayings. In their personal lives, they read about famous people and keep them as role models to emulate and become better human beings. They learn about the struggles of great people who have come up the hard way and after reading, the students complain less about their own lives. Reading is definitely better than watching T.V. or playing video games. While the former enriches the mind by serious concentration, T.V. and video games are visual treats in which viewers don’t have to think much and exercise their grey cells. Reading good books is nice because reading books, unlike certain interactions, will never let us down. SEPTEMBER 2020 - 026
